  5. My surgeon / NUT recommends waiting a year. Whatever you decide, keep in mind that you will feel tipsy quicker and then feel sober quicker, but your blood alcohol level will remain elevated. So be sure to have a driver, even if you feel fine, because if you get pulled over and do a breathalizer, you may be illegal. Be safe!

  7. Your body has been through great trauma. Please don't hold your recovery against it. We all heal differently and have different post-op experiences. One who did not experience an allergy and vomitting will likely settle in a bit easier. Everything I've read tells me that this too shall pass. It will get easier. We must believe this. I am almost a month out, and am getting on okay, but suffer extreme fatigue by the end of the work day and struggle to stay awake while driving home. It is horrible! I am choosing to believe this is only temporary. Wishing you WELL, dear.
  8. I find that eating protein first doesn't allow any room for much else. I've been doing yogurt and blueberries in the morning, a turkey roll up with low fat cheddar for lunch (or chili if it is served at work), fajita chicken with salsa for a snack, and cottage cheese for dinner, along with two protein shakes to ensure I reach protein goal. I couldn't possibly add a starch. Wishing you WELL, dear. I know you will find what works for you.

    I use isopure low carb chocolate (25 grams protein), and I have a stash of Premiere Protein pre-made shakes (30 grams of protein) for a quick grab and go. This stage will go by quickly... you are going to do great! There are people older than you who have already reported great success.
  10. Mine surgeon's plan is: Day 1 clear liquids, days 2-7 full liquids (protein shakes), days 8-14 mushies, weeks 3 and 4 soft foods, weeks 5 to goal... well... I haven't gotten that far, but I'm guessing it includes a more normal diet low in carbs and high in protein. ;}
  11. Every time your nurse walks into your room... ask her for nausea medication. That's what I did, and I never had an episode. You're going to be just fine.
  12. the best way to get rid of water is to drink more water. How are you on your water and decaf fluids each day? wishing you WELL!
  13. A friend of mine learned to knit/chrochet on youtube. That would be a great activity for your hands! I've considered it myself.
  14. I didn't have any changes that I've noticed. I can still tolerate my shakes, etc. I did find that beef broth was far more flavorful and satisfying than chicken broth. I've read that you can experiment with temperatures and that your sleeve may enjoy warm beverages, like decaf tea and broth, over cold ones, or room temperature. I have found that a decaf warm chai with almond milk goes down so smoothly that I can get in a whole 10-12 oz. I'm 11 days out. Wishing you WELL, and hoping you find what works for you!
  15. Do a search here for band to sleeve revisions. It may help educate your decision, with words of experience. Best of luck with journey!
  16. theworldaccordingtoeggface.com has great ideas for bariatric eating. Best to avoid the carbs while in the losing phase. I've read that keeping your carbs at 40 grams or below is best for losing... also protein first, then veg, then fruit... then you shouldn't have room for the stuff that stalls your loss. Good luck!
  17. Another thought is to replace electrolytes. If you are flushing too much salt from your body, and sf gatorade once a day may help. Feel better!
  18. I agree... going back to the beginning makes sense. If you have issues with carbs, remove them. Detox your system by returning to very start. Liquids, then mushies, then soft foods... protein first, then veggies, then fruits. If you make the right choices, you shouldn't have room for the triggers and fat-producers. Drink at least 80 ounces of water per day. Take a 30 minute walk, minimum. You can do this! You already did!
  19. Go to 'theworldaccordingtoeggface.com' and search purees or mushies. I'm three days into mushies and doing great with ff refried beans with salsa and cheddar. It is a trick to not overeat, let me tell you. If you do, you spend the next hour keeping your mushies in your tummy, as they creep into your throat. Yuck.
