Sleeved Aug 27 and doing great. I'm down 23 lbs which boggles my mind. I'm on liquids plus I eat an egg or two a day, bananas, oatmeal, and some milk (pudding mostly). I'd never been lactose intolerant before but I need to take lactaid with any milk.

For exercise I'm trying to walk 30 minutes a day or so. I had an umbilical hernia fixed and can't do any heavy lifting for several more weeks. I've been getting about 400-500 cals a day. Today I got around 750.

Aug 30th. Down 21 lbs! I'm not excersing yet...I have some back and hip problems I'm hoping will ease as the weight comes off and then I'll start walking and maybe some fun zumba classes at the gym. Mostly Water, Protein smoothies, juicing and yogurt. I did try some refried Beans today and was able to eat a little bit ok.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Iggy...you'll be in my prayers

Iggy. What happened?

you can read the full version in the stories section (its called the story you dontmwant to read but should) but basically i hav a 1 in 400 complication for any surgery, internal bleeding. it causes severe spasms which can only be controlled with muscle relaxants, which you cant take because your blood pressure tanks and it puts you in danger of heart failure. until the blood is worked out of my body i am in pain and very weak. i thought the cat scan would have good news yesterday but it isnt disipating as fast as we hopped. i may be stuck in bed several more weeks.

August 22nd was surgery day. Hw 265, dos 250 now 242. Slow loser. Hurricane Isaac messed up my diet requirements. I had to eat what was available. Thankfully I am doing fine. Protein Shake for Breakfast, 1/2 cup Protein based food for lunch, egg whites, Greek yogurt or something for snack and dinner 1/2c protein based food. Not getting all my Water or protein in though. Protein approximately 50grams, water about 40-50 ounces. Glad most of us are doing alright. I hope you feel better soon, IGGY.

I started my pre-op diet at 282 on 8/14. I was sleeved on 8/28, weighed 271 the morning of surgery. I had my 2 week post-op check today, and I'm 255. A loss of 27 pounds since starting the pre-op diet, with 16 pounds loss since surgery two weeks ago. I'm good with this :-).

My surgery was 8/29.

I was 333 before pre-op diet.

318 day of surgery.

303 this morning. :)

So, 15 lbs since surgery, 30 total.

My first doctor's followup is Monday (I had to reschedule) and I want to be under 300!

My surgery was on 8/17. I still can't believe I'm on the other side after a year of work and planning. I was 267 in January, got to 250 on 6 month required plan, was at 240 on day of surgery (after two week liquid diet), and at four weeks out tomorrow... I've only lost 13 lbs, but I'm happy to see the 220's - even on the high end. I am already down a size and about 20 inches. So I guess the fact that I'm a slow loser in pounds will keep me pulling out the measuring tape in the months ahead.

I am on soft solids, but get to broaden my options on Saturday. My two vices are brown rice chips and dark chocolate. When I stalled after two weeks, I was terribly tempted to turn down that aisle at the grocery... but my head won over my emotions (thank goodness). I eat boar's head turkey with low fat cheddar, cottage cheese, yogurt with blueberries, fajita chicken with salsa, chili. I'm a lazy eater, so I'm glad for the ability to eat so simply. My liquids go down fine, but I've found that warm Decaf chai with a dash of almond milk goes down the easiest... and cold Water with MiO. I supplement with 1-2 shakes a day... but I'm finding that, while they went down well at first, I'm starting to have difficulty. I actually dumped on a shake last night, and I've been using that same product for many months. Many feel too sweet to me.

Also, I am supposed to use chewable Vitamins the doctor provided, but they are the only thing that has made me come close to throwing up... also, too sweet. :(

I'm so glad for all who are doing so well... and I am carrying Iggy close and wishing her WELL!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
