Great job! I can't wait until Monday since I'll move to the soft food stage. Cannot wait to eat something other than a Protein Shake or Soup. (Not that I have any appetite...) I'm down 8 pounds so far.

Wow!! I don't get full quick. I honestly think it bc I had the Lap band. Dr removed it the same day as as I was sleeved.. I'll eat a little more than 1/4 of a cup of refried Beans with 1 slice of cheese(muenster) and 1tbs of home made salsa verde and I'll be good for 3 hours ' date=' then have my protien shake... And so on.. I have lost inches.. I was a size 14 now I'm a 12.. I guess I'm going to lose it more slow becuase I'm not a virgin to wls? Good luck to u. I'm going to schedule an appointment to see the nut.. :)[/quote']

Keep in touch looks like we are about the same size i too have gone from a 14 to a 12! Goal weight 120-130 at my one week appointment i was 186 cant wait to see what i am at my 1 month

Well saw my surgeon today....I was sleeved on 8-22-12 was hoping to get to go to soft/smooth/puree foods but nope, one more week on Clear liquids and Protein shakes. On the positive side, at least I get something and the shakes fill me up! :) I get to start the soft foods next Thursday.

Date of surgery I weighed in at 221 down to 200 today. Off all meds and good Blood pressure. Soon to be under 200 and it feels so good!!! People are noticing and commenting...I'm so excited for this new journey.

Hope all is going well with everyone else...I have soft food ready and frozen for the day I get to indulge. Counting down!!!

God Bless you all...I enjoy this forum and the information and suggestions I find here.

I was sleeved on 8/21. My post op appt. was today, so I thought I got to go to full liquid/puree, but I was told I have to stay on liquids for a bit longer. I cried really hard when I left the office! lol I'm so sick of Protein Drinks and would KILL for some food! I too am a SF popsicle maniac! They are the only thing keeping me going.

I was sleeved on 8/02 and just this week got to have pureed foods. The first few days have been challenging, to say the least. I thought I was ready to eat food but have found that liquids go down MUCH easier. I had some refried Beans tonight and brought home a container that probably has 4-5 more meals in it. They taste good but just not much space in there and if I take one bite more than I should, I regret for at least 30 minutes. The best thing I have tried so far is grits with some extra milk to make them thinner. I have not tried blended meats at all yet.

Good luck to all of you getting to eat now. My advice is to go slowly........

I'm 4 weeks out and haven't lost weight for 2 weeks. I was sleeved 8/7 from 179 now 165. I've been eating 1000-1200 calories daily. I workout everyday and weights every other day. Not sure what I'm doing Wrong..

I had surgery a week later and I average 400 calories a day! My NUT says 500-600 is average for the first few months and at a year increase to 1,000. What does your NUT reccomend?

Ok, now for some TMI talk... How is everyone doing as far as going to the bathroom? Is anyone else really constipated all of a sudden?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
