Surgery In Three Days... Anyone Else Get Cold Feet ?

I'm on the same boat like u..

My surgery is Saturday in Mexico.. tomorrow I will be leaving to San Diego.. and trust me I am so nervous .. what something happens and I'm in another country? What about my kids? What about my family?( they don't know about this surgery) Is just the Wat ifs ...i have three weeks that I just can't sleep I guess is just thinking about the day..

I have hope and faith God will be there with me so everything will go well..

Hey Luv.. By now you should be on a plane to San Diego and then off to Mexico. I pray things for you will go well and you will be up and at em before you know it. I heard of a lot of people going over to Mexico to get it done so feel secure in knowing your not the first. I hope things go well for you. Keep us posted.

You can do it! I had surgery Monday! And I feel great!! You can do it!!!

OK buddy... Spill it !! LOL.. How are you feeling great ?? It's only 4 days since surgery !! What did you do ?? What is it like to wake up ?? I know your still only on a Fluid diet but have you gotten those UGH I want a Big Mac feelings or is it just like " meh whatever it is what it is?"... HELP !!

Day 1 sucked! But I expected it!! After that I got out of bed and got moving! I have been very blessed. I made a mental decision to not take pain meds after the IV's came out. I have been just fine without them. Repeat: Day 1 sucked, but since then, all has been fine.

Waking up sucked!!! I'm just focused on getting liquids and Protein in. That is a full time job right now.

What was it like to wake up in the recovery room ? I think I will be happy i'm alive but freaking out b/c of pain... I've been told it's "like being hit with a MAC truck". NOT very descriptive. What do you think ?? Thanks. Lisa

The nurse woke me up when I was in the recovery room. I remember thinking wow that was quick! I don't even remember falling asleep. I was not in pain, just really sleepy. Your bed is propped up, (I was worried about being on my back and not being able to breathe, but it was not a problem) All stuff they may have put in you, other than the catheter and the IV are gone. ( I was worried about that too) I was not in pain, just a little sore. They monitor your oxygen levels with a little finger monitor. I wasn't taking deep enough breaths, so she put the little oxygen thing under my nose and all was fine. Once I got to the room, my mom,dad and husband visited with me for a little bit and put away some of my things. Then they watched me sleep. I finally kicked them out. I got up and walked for a bit later that afternoon. The next day was the mac truck feeling everyone describes. Since that doesn't make sense to you, the best way I can describe it is a little like having the flu. I got tired really easily and I just felt achy and drained. I had some pain, but mostly it was just discomfort, that a pillow pressed to my stomach when moving made better. I was nauseous, but they had good drugs for that. I got up and walked around the hospital a lot. The more you do that, the better you will feel and it worked. By the third day I was a new person. The nausea was mostly gone. I felt like the fog had lifted and my body no longer had that hit by a mac truck feeling. I had a little discomfort at my inscision sites, but no big deal. The first week I got tired easily and struggled with fluids, but never got dehydrated, so I must have gotten enough in. By the time I saw my doctor 10 days post op, I felt great! I hope that helps a little with your questions. I was so worried about all the unknowns myself that I am happy to shed at least a little light to help someone else who is worrying.

My surgery is same day monday 27 too.

I am having cold feet. I am worried I am gonna be in pain, that I won't be able to eat at all, that something goes wrong. I dunno.

But then I think about all the reasons why I am having the operation and the result I am gonna get.

It is confusing really.

Hope we both have a speedy recovery

Everyone is right that the first few days are very hard. But....fast forward almost seven months and my life couldn't be better! All that worry, all the pain, all those emotions have been long forgotten and seem like such a long time ago.

Try to spend this weekend busy getting everything in order at home and make sure you have your kitchen stocked with those liquids. I didn't have much support at home so this site was such a lifesaver to me in those last few days, as it is still a lifesaver to me now. :-)

I never got cold feet till the day of in the gown sitting in the pre op ward lol

Mum had left I was the last person in my section and I rang my mum to come back and told her I feel like going I just wanna leave I had no clothes as she took them all home when I got in my gown and she never brought them back and I was just gonna bolt in the hospital gown and support stocking and hair net lol

Took me about a hour to finally say no its ok just go or I will leave and I forced myself to lay down and go to sleep but yeah if you didn’t panic or get cold feet your wouldn’t be human we all go through it.

I was scared for a couple of weeks before hand my date was moved forward twice!

So first thought I wasn’t getting it till next year then they changed it to this year actually was meant to be this month but they changed it again for may so I thought I had months to prepare then that letter come saying oh no its may 15^th so I was like holy sh*t!

Everything was crammed in to a 2 week period the tests the going to group meetings all of it just slammed me so I found myself thinking about it and crying for a few nights at the shock of it all being RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW!

I was sleeved yesterday. I was a little nervous but I kept reading posts on here and that helped me to be at ease. So far I am just sore but the pain meds help. Can't wait till I get rid of my first set of clothes.

Tracy thank you so much. I have Fibromyalgia so I'm quite familiar with the achy pains and exhaustion. Soreness..I live with it so I guess I will feel a little worst than normal. thanks for being so descriptive. I feel so much better now and can't wait to go in. Monday can't get here soon enough ! !

I am going through the exact same feelings you are. But I got my pic taken with my 5 week old great nephew today and other than the baby I hated how I looked so I am going to move forward. I am also using this forum as inspiration. Feel free to communicated with me too. I can use a few VS buddies!

Yay two more days ! ! Super excited for both of us ! ! Let's keep in touch for sure ! I will have my phone that day so I will need company. You can find me here as long as I'm awake.

I will be packing all weekend for my big move next Saturday so I won't be on as much but I will talk to you before our surgery. What state are you in and what time is your surgery? I'm in NY and my surgery is between 9 and 12 depending on another patient.
