to my buds in Sleeveland

starting Water aerobics next week, can't wait,. bought a one piece nice bathing suit that looks good on me. ;)

haven't gone to gym , in a long time do to ortho problems mainly with my knee - wish i had tried to go to gym earlier - i think others have knee problems or whatever too and you go exercising - but tomorrow is a new day

besides swimming, i am gonna try the eliptical, very slowly, to see if I can do? i use to be a wiz, and i loved it so much - wish me luck

i know i should have started the water earlier, but here i am, better late than never

i even bought a couple of nike shirts and 3/4 length stretch pants - they were on such a sale, plus i had a coupon too. it would have been a sin to pass up these clothes - people have been shot for less than that

all above i bought at Kohl's

the weight you lost has to go somewhere :(

this hanging skin looks so bad, and you can't hide when you are in a bathing suit :(

only about a handful of cover-ups left, end of season, so its just me and the bathing suit - in person - "hanging" around

i've been enjoying life a lot more these past months, do to the help of a certain new tool that you can't buy in a hardware shop :D

81 degrees & sunny here

take care all

If you are going to be doing Water aerobics you should invest in a unitard. I bought one online at swimsuitsforall.com and loved it for water aerobics. You look better than in a swim suit because it holds all of you in and, since it has legs (thigh coverage), nothing can hang out.

Oh, and for aerobics, the swim unitard is more comfy than a regular suit because it provides support to all the jiggly bits. It's not just better from an aesthetic perspective.

Hi Kathy! Happy Tuesday! Is it Friday yet?! :) I LOVE water aerobics. I have been taking two hour water aerobic classes, twice a week in the evenings for about a couple of years now.

BTW, 81 degrees!! GET out! That would be like a cold front for us here! LOL!! It was 108 here in Texas yesterday, even hotter today, up to 115 with heat index! Wake me up when it is October!! Have a FABULOUS day!

Hope you enjoy water aerobics!!

I am going to my first aquafit class tonight. I am almost 2 weeks post op and took a cardio/weight/step class last night that absolutely kicked my behind!

I am hoping the class tonight is a little less pain and little more fun!

Happy loosing ladies!

Hi Kathy,

I am pre-op and have started my own makeshift Water aerobics in my pool...only when the neighbors aren't outside:)

I bought some water ankle weights and I jog the perimeter of the pool 4 times in one directions and then 4 in the other against the current I made. Then I swim a few laps, do stretches, twists, etc. Let me tell you, it is a work out! The best is that it is easy on the feet and knees and it is sweat free! I am sure you will love the class.

Good luck to you.

Carol

I was told to wait a month before going into a pool. Did your pcp say it's fine to swim already. I would love to start. I am 1 week out

My plan for after surgery is Water aerobics too, I love swimming, and the low impact factor. It will def be my work out preference.

I'm actually starting today on doing some of it pre-op with my pre-op diet.

Swimming burns the most calories.

Depending on the suit you bought and the intensity of the class I might recommend a sports bra also. I did aqua zumba for a year and a half (and just started up again) and there's some jumping involved. I took a few "regular" Water aerobics classes too and still wore the sports bra. I bought a one-piece sportier suit but it did nothing for my chest. Most of the women in the class wore them too, which is where I got the idea. I'd just recommend one of the seamless kinds, instead of cotton. I like Champion brand seamless sports bras from Target. I've never tried the unitard thing but I might since my one-piece is too big now. Definitely go for comfort and performance over anything else... which is easy for me to say since I go to a females only gym! :)

Good luck! Have fun!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
