thin soon reacted to DivaK in July SleeversHello...I was sleeved on July 2nd and I am doing great. I think I have hit the dreaded 3 week stall but it is o.k. I know this will pass and hopefully sooner than later. I still have some slight incision pain from time to time but not anything that I need meds for. I weighed 210 and lost 4 pounds before surgery and now I weigh 192-193 depending on what my body wants to weigh in the morning...

thin soon reacted to slimcindy in July SleeversWow so glad to hear all your inputs, and so happy and proud of all your weight loss. This journey is surely not easy but definitely worth it. I too have struggled with buyer's remorse and the fact that this is a forever change. My surgery was July 18th and I'm 21lbs down but i guess a little part of me thought that the pounds would just come off over night. i have 3 kids and preparing the meals for the family has been tough because there food seems yummier than my boring food lol. Its not that im hungry but bored of the same food. I already started the puree. Im still having a little trouble with the protein the highest I've gone is 68g. The shakes are tough to swallow. I could only manage to drink one in the morning.

thin soon reacted to KS Fort Worth in July SleeversSleeved July 24th, recovery going well. Only used pain meds for 3 nights. Still 9 more days of full liquids (every Doc is different, it seems, but I am patient...) getting plenty of liquids, and protein numbers are good. I lost about 45 pounds pre-op, so I'm not really worrying about calories right now, although I'm sure they are not too high. Just concentrating on letting my body heal. Rarely actually hungry, and the feeling seems transient. Grateful to be given this opportunity to get my weight under control, for the first time in my life.

thin soon reacted to KikiCC in July SleeversI'll be one month out Monday. My surgery was July 9th. Started at 260, only have lost 20 lbs, I was at a stall for two weeks, which I think is incredible this early. I keep telling myself that if I go about my business, before I know it all the weight will be gone. I return to work Monday.

Well the end of my first week back to work and 3rd week post-op and while I feel pretty darn good, I am pooped! lol I think I've expended alot of energy during the week. My stomach is doing good, no nausea, etc. I had a SlimFast today and it was great! And it has 20g of protein..... hmmmm chocolate AND protein.... yeah works for me!! lol I plan on sitting by the pool and getting some sun time in! Hope everyone has a great weekend!! Hugs!

thin soon reacted to BombShelle in July SleeversJuly 13th sleever checking in!!!! 3 weeks post op. I feel great. No pain and healing well. Tolerate everything I'm allowed to eat. Eggs, cream of wheat, and cream of chicken soups are my go to meals. (they said strain the chicken pieces out but they are so small, moist, and tender I chomp right through them) I'm only down 27lbs but I'm happy. I can see it in my face and neck area. Most of that came off in the 1st week in a half. I lost a lot pre op and in general throughout the year so my surgeon said I'm doing ok. I know that once I get back to the gym and amp up my walking I will drop. Right now...I'm taking it easy by doing light strolling. Chillaxing @ home!!!

When I read this regarding Dr. Ponce's price I was ticked as I just paid 5500.00 so I called and have been told that this Lori person has not been authorized by Dr. Ponce to offer this price. We will know more tomorrow as he will be speaking to her.

thin soon reacted to Honey Bear in July SleeversI am from New Orleans as well. Had my sleeve done on July 26th. Been on nothing but Clear Liquids since. Mainly flavored Water, sugar free Popsicles, and crystal light.
Today I was able to take in black coffee and begin prescript fit chicken Soup.
I have my 1 week post op doctor's visit tomorrow. According to my plan, I should be able to incorporate Protein shakes starting on Thursday.
Except for day one I've been pain free. No feelings of hunger or cravings. At the same time, I have not had a lot of full feelings.
Looking forward to the eventual small quantities of regular food but also nervous about how it's going to go down.
Good luck with your sleeve and Congrats.

thin soon reacted to phoenixgen2 in July SleeversI had my surgery on July 10th. I had three full weeks of thin and thick liquids and am moving into the pureed stage (FINALLY). For me the physical aspect of the surgery has been going very well. I am healing great, my surgical glue and scabs have all fallen off and I am starting vitamin E oil to minimise the scarring. I do have some problems in the morning. I am tired, a bit turned off of eating or drinking anything, and feel yuckie overall. I have been told that it is my body adjusting to my new smaller stomach and that it will pass. I did feel better this morning than I have in the past week and a half. My biggest struggle is the emotional rollercoaster that followed the surgery. The day after I was released I was sent to the emergency room with as it turns out...severe panick attacks. I only found this out after 18 hours in ER and another trip via ambulance the next day. Three weeks out and I still have mild panick attacks, but they get better each day. Xanax helps a lot. I went from taking 3 a day when first diagnosed to just one a day (yeah me!). The other side of this for me was the sadness and depression. I was depressed before my surgery due to the emotional trauma of being obese, but after the surgery I started to have depression spirals...bad ones. I would cry several times a day, I couldn't think positive to save my life. I went to both my doctor and a psychologist and they said that emotional turbulance is normal the first couple of weeks to a couple of months. Part of it is due to the fact that I just hit my life physically and emotionally with a big mack truck, my relationship to food which had been a security blanket to me had changed, and as fat is consumed by the body the stores of estrogen in the fat is released causing more moodieness. The biggest hurtle I have faced is dealing with "buyers remorse". Knowing that my life will NEVER be the same again can be very scary, but I know in the end it will be wonderful. I just have to get past what I am calling "hell weeks" After upping my antideperessants a little bit, I am getting better at focusing on all the benefits that are heading my way as a result of the surgery. It will be a long road, but I know that the emotional turmoil is perfectly normal, and above all...temporary. I just take it one day at a time.

thin soon reacted to tjloser in July SleeversI was sleeved July 10th. I'm down 19 #'s and doing good. I am now on puree and coming up with a few ideas to keep myself from getting bored with what I'm eating. another week or so and I will be on regular food and boy am I ready. I will start working out tomorrow as I just have not had a lot of energy but I figure I have to start sooner or later so I start now. Congrats to all July sleevers. We're finally on the losers bench!

Swimming is also great for those who have spine issues. I have oestoarthritis in 2 vertebrae and one facet joint that is litterally frozen and does not flex much at all. I use water weights in the deep end and do water jogging in place of normal laps. Basically that is running in place while I hold the waterweights down with my hand. I'm almost always vertical and try real hard not to hyper extend my spines. So regular lap swimming is out. I can acutally do more damage if I'm not careful. For those of you who have severe back pain, be sure your doctor or therapist knows what you are doing in the water. Water can really be your friend when you have physical limitations.

I am three weeks out and was cleared to submerge recently. I've been swimming (breaststroke) every day since for 30 minutes a day and loving it. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I burn about 500 calories every time I swim and it is great for all sorts of muscles especially the dreaded batwings. I am not a gym person AT ALL but have occasionally been into jogging (couch to 5k) however here in the Middle East it is BLINDINGLY hot right now so I am thrilled I have been given the all clear to use a nearby pool at a friends apartment who is away for the summer. I am liking it so much I may even join a gym club somewhere in time, so I can use the pool. I plan to add 5 minutes a week to my swim until I reach an hour. Can't believe I just typed that, but I am. Goodness, is there a chance I may become an exercise junkie? LOL

Its my new favorite thing!!! I'll admit I totally DESPISE exercise. I do. Sorry but I don't workout. Ive lost 110 lbs with little exercise. I'm sure I will pay for it with loose skin, but.... Anyway my surgeon really wanted me to try swimming. But for me putting on bathing suit was out of the question. But I put my big girl panties on and sucked it up and got a bathing suit and didn't care. Now I go to the pool a few times a week and I'm loving it!!!! I stay for hours and I really work my legs and arms. So easy on the joints. Love it.
