I wrote through his website asking for information a week ago. Finally on Tuesday, I got a reply that they got my message and would be sending me some information.

Still waiting. Is this a typical response from them?

I usually get really fast replies so this has surprised me since it was a basic inquiry (when coordinators/doctors just forward typical intro forms/information).

I like prompt answers so it makes me hesitant to even consider his practice, but I figured I would ask if this is the norm.

Dr. Kelly doesn't use a coordinator any longer, so not sure what website you used. His work # is 1-619-793-4869. His assistant, Omar's cell is 1-619-395-5347. Their website address is wlsclinic.com. Their email is info@wlsclinic.com. Im going August 23rd and am very happy with my decision based on all I've read, and the people I have been in contact with who have been there.

That is the website I used. I got a reply from Omar on the 3rd with no other replies. I'm happy that it worked out for you. :) I have heard so many good stories so I really wanted that information! The longer I wait for any basic information from them, the more I feel like many he isn't "my" surgeon.. if that makes sense.

I understand. He responds back to me very quickly. I normally text him saying I have more questions, to call me when he gets a chance. You have to do what's best for you though. Since I haven't BEEN there yet, I only have verbal preop experience. Best of luck making your decision. I know when I started the process, the first doctor that came up on the google was one that was cheaper, I don't want to name throw, so I won't say who, but I wasn't comfortable with things I read during my research. But then again, I don't like to request info, get the info, and then the coordinator calls me everyday for over a week. It's like they are trying to make a sale (literally). So, I really like the lack of a sales person for Dr. Kelly, but maybe he does need another worker?

Dr. Kelly is also working on a new website so hopefully some of these issues will be resolved. Right now he's almost strictly word of mouth and that's kind of inconvenient for everyone involved. It's also very weird for Omar not to respond so I'd question that, too... yes call him directly!!!

I echo what everyone else is saying. They are, as Finding Myself said, working on a new website. Text Omar directly, that is the quickest way to contact Omar/Dr. Kelly. Response time is normally very quick.

Another email they use is: wls-clinic@hotmail.com.

Good luck and stick with Dr. Kelly - you won't be sorry!

This may or may not make you feel better, but...

If you emailed Omar between 6/27 - 7/4, it was during the time I was there. Omar repeated more than once that he had no time to sit down and respond to emails. There were three of us who had surgery on 6/28, and we all had family members with us. A few days later, there was a lady who came that brought 3 family members with her, and Omar was run into the ground. Omar had 10 ladies to run around, and they were going all kinds of places and even to the casino until after midnight. Omar said he could hardly keep his eyes open trying to keep everyone happy. I think everyone went home on 7/3 or 7/4, and he had two more patients in the hospital at that time.

He might have been slow to answer your email, but it was because he was so busy being attentive to people who were in the hospital / hotel. Calling / texting Omar is the best way to get a response.

Oh jeez.. didn't mean to go there! Well, I hope I get a reply soon. I did write in the date range you specified, though.

Yes there was a lady with 3 family members there, it was me. And we offered numerous times to get a taxi but both he and Cecy refused every time. They did go to the casino but he was having a great time with someone else and I was not left

alone at the hospital. It was even his idea to go! That was the whole point of taking 3 people with me, so that no one was stuck at the hospital the whole time and so that my mother wouldn't be

alone while I was having surgery in a foreign country. We handled their arraingments before we left and never asked for their transportation. And the supposed 6 hour shopping trip is a big fat lie! We were gone maybe 1-1 1/2 hours, and it was our scheduled shopping trip. I shopped in one store and he took us back to the hotel because he had to go to the hospital. From what I heard you were laid up in your hotel room having a bad day and missed your trip and made him

take you on another trip! So sorry that I have a great support system! But Omar was very well compensated for his time let me assure you! Also did you forget to mention that you happened to stay for 2 extra days expecting them to cart you around everywhere after your package was supposed to be over! I'm not trying to be ugly here but I don't think it's very informative of you to bash other people when you don't even know the whole story.

I think that what you are both trying to say is, thst omar was super busy, regardless of the whos and hows of it. I took two family membrrs with me, but they both had surgery slong with me. Imho, taking 3 ppl is fine, but having Omar do anything for them, (whether he offered or not) was taking him from his patients, and they are the ones paying for care. No need to tit for tat, that's not what the poster was asking, and it doesnt hold well for Dr Kellys impeccable credentials, or make Omar shine in the best light. And thats what should be at the forefront here.

I'm sorry and wasn't trying to bash. The point was that Omar seemed to be running himself to death trying to keep everyone happy, so it may be the reason that you haven't gotten a response during that time. Omar is very attentive to his patients in the hospital and the hotel, and he is probably trying to catch up.

I sent Omar a text asking if he had caught up on his emails, and he asked to make sure you had his cell number, 619-395-5347. I would urge you to email him again or text him if you are uncomfortable calling before you give up on him and Dr. Kelly.

That's exactly what's being said, nobody is putting blame on anyone, the only point Sunny is trying to make is that Omar was busy doing what he does, what he loves to do and that is seeing to it that everyone is comfortable and happy. We all had a great time, it was fun getting to know family members of other patients. Omar is great and if he doesn't get back to someone as quick ad usual it's because he's taking good care of someone else at the moment.

No, it wasn't what sunny said. It was how it was said. When I read her 1st post about the other family it reads like Omar was being overused. Period. And the blame was solely placed on another family. And not worded in any nice way. We forget that when we type things out nobody knows the author's intent and I can see why it was offensive

And apparently she felt upset enough to remove her post. which nobody on this forum should have to feel like

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
