I have heard from lots of folks that due to the rapid weight loss, skin gets saggy and your color does not look good. Is that true? I guess age would be a factor also. Thank you for your reply. I am 36 so would love to hear from folks my age.

I've noticed that some of the people who get the RNY surgery look a little dried out, skin wise. But I haven't seen that in sleevers. I suppose its because of the Vitamin deficiency in the RNY patients.

I only know one person who's had the sleeve personally, but know plenty who've had RNY who look older. I think it's due to the rapid loss versus deficiencies. My neck has slimmed down SO much and I've noticed some slight excess skin. Not to the point where I think I look older, but I'm 34 and the skin is tightening up each week. If I were 50, I could see it being worse and actually bothering me.

I am 34 years old and everyone says how much healthier my skin looks (glowing, without breakouts which I used to get alot of because of the type of food I was eating) and my hair is shiny and I recently took my oldest daughter who is 18 now to an appointment and the older receptionist asked her why her older sister filled out her papers... She had to say... Thats my mother! so I would say YOUNGER! I do use face creams though and moisturize daily with one that has sunscreen.

I'm 47 and have been told that I look younger. The skin on my face and neck seems to have bounced back and I don't have any wrinkles yet. I certainly should because I have smoked for ... wow, over 30 years and am constantly in the sun. A lot of things come into play, especially genetics. I think skin with more melanin in it (darker skin) resists wrinkles a little better.

I'd rather take a few wrinkles than bloated and sick any day. That's how I was.

I'm 34 and I feel younger, I also get the whole glowing thing. My aunt did ask me if I was pregnant because I just had a radiant glow about me.

I'm pushing 41 and I don't have people telling me I look younger but I do get loads of compliments. I've always taken care of my skin/face so I'm lucky not to have any droopy skin around my face/neck.

I was at a business meeting about 1.5 months ago and was talking with a senior manager (female) about work related issues during a lunch. At some point age came up and I mentioned I'd be getting the "4.1 upgrade" this summer and she turned to look at me with a completely stunned look on her face. She told me she was going to ask someone how old I was and I just took it as a compliment!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
