oh' date=' I forgot the biggest reason - so little kids stop staring at me and saying 'Mom, that guy is so Fat'... that really hurts, and ticks me off. On the one hand I know they're just kids but on the other I feel like their parent should apologize for not teaching them manners...[/quote']

Unfortunately, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you, but I'm glad that it's almost over. ;)

These are all so great and so true! Has anyone said this yet? * I want to be able to wrap a towel (regular bath size) around my body, instead of using the gigantic costco ones or beach towels! Who would've ever guessedmthat towel size is a problem for obese people...

*I want to go to every party, wedding, baby shower, and function I'm invited to...not send a gift because I am afraid people I haven't seen in 125lbs will see me. (I am very social).

*I want to be able to buy a bra at a regular store! (not many places carry 42DDD!)

*I want to run around and chase my students at recess!

*I want my kids (students) to not ask me innocent questions that hurt! (Why is your tummy so big? Are you 'pregnet?' My mom's not fat, why are you? ...all real questions!)

Most of all...I want to be happy & healthy! :)

Oh Patrickcurl, kids' comments can be the worst. I work with four and five year olds (I'm a teacher) and where the parents leave off, I try to make up for. (Mrs. lLambert, you need a Wii fit for Christmas! ....thanks.....LOL!) We talk a lot about differences and kindness to others in my class. My 9-year-old adopted brother is completely blind. He was shot in the face when he was two (He is from Baghdad, Iraq). He only has one eye, and it's fake. His face is disfigured, but he is the most handsome, smart, hilarious, adorable boy I know. He has the most amazing personality! You would not believe the stares, the comments, the vulgarity of what children and ADULTS say to him. It is our job to help teach these kids and adults become compassionate towards others. I have my brother come in regularly to help kids get accustomed to being around someone "different." People just aren't intentional about teaching their kids etiquette around others with "differences". My mom always taught us never to stare or say rude things. When I hear a rude comment, I make a point of trying to educate that child or adult of how my brother ended up the way he is--and I do the same with my students if they say something about my weight, or anyone else's!

Don't let it get you down, I've had kids ask the skinny girls at my work if they're pregnant, and tell them their bottoms are too big! Remember, everything is bigger to them. I've somehow learned to let fat comments from kids roll off my shoulders. Hopefully if you have kids, you can teach them to treat others with love and kindness no matter how they look, sound, smell, etc! We have the gift of empathy. :)

Best of luck to you in your journey!!

Erika

I can't wait:

*To be able to share clothes with my mother

*To have a colorful closet instead of just black

*For my thighs not to rub against each other

*To feel sexy and confident again

*to want to take pictures

*Not having to buy clothes at any plus size store

Ooohhhh this is a great thread!

I have been able to put on my hubby's pants after 90 lbs, but now can't wait for them to be too big.

I can't wait for the doctor to tell me I am "normal" weight.

I can't wait to see my genecologist I have not seen and who helped me start this journey after more than 20 years of documented weight struggles...and cry with her at how far "we" have come.

I can't wait to wear a single digit.

I can't wait to get my love life back with my hubby, I miss him.

And more :)

StrangelyNormal,

I hope it was a good cry! :) (Not a sad cry!) if you're interested, The Seattle Times has done a series on my brother, Hamoody since 2006 when he came to us at age three. :) He is just a sweetheart and the biggest blessing to my family. We adore him!

These are out of order and not recent, but you can search Humoody/Hamoody and find more info on him. I know his story but still cry my eyes out reading it. He is a true miracle! I don't know how to do pictures on this site, but if you're on FB, my name is Erika Lambert, I've got tons of pics of him there :)

Enjoy and have a great day!!

My fiancée is originally from a town called Poulsbo in WA and he is familiar with these stories.

Amazing, just amazing. I'm so glad I'm not around Hamoodi all the time or I'd be in jail. I'd knock someone flat out if they dared say one disrespectful word aimed at him

I can't wait to be unseen as I'm walking down the street. I long for the day that I blend in with the crowd and no longer have to see shocked expressions and hear the gasps and whispers. The adults are worse than the kids because they should know better. I look forward to going into whatever establishment I want to even if the chairs have arms. I want to go to Disney land and ride roller coasters and be able to walk the entire park. Most of all, I want to feel good about being me!

I want to be able to be on the praise team at church again (my husband made me quit after I fell down twice getting off the stage - my legs go completely numb if I stand too long) and help people worship God. I also want to be able to get on my knees (and get back up :-) .

Adding to your list:

I can't wait to:

* look banging in some jeans

* make my boo mouth drop when I wear something sexy

* be able power walk and run without being out of breath

Thought of another one - being able to wear the robe provided at a spa and not having to bring my own so it would cover me.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
