Where Do I Start Exercising?

Recommended Posts

Work in an office in front of a computer 8 hours a day. I weigh 327 and had a knee scope done two months ago which didnt help much. At my weight and other hurdles where and how much d I exercise?

Right now, I'm just walking at least 30 minutes a day. I was sleeved April 24th and I feel like I just don't have the energy to do much more than that right now.

Try walking in a resistance pool...just do a few laps at a time and work up until you can do more. Some places that do Physical therapy have it to where you can go and use the pool.

If you can't do much at once, try just 5-10 minutes at a time. If you go to a store, park farther from the door. A pool is a great idea too since you can normally do more without hurting. Just ease into exercise.

Thank you for all the advice. Ive never ran in my life and would love to run a mile one day.

One other thing you can try. Instead of taking the elevator all the time (if you happen to come upon an elevator), try the stairs once in a while. With your knee issue, up the stairs might be better than down the stairs, but after my 11 knee operations, they were all tough until my legs stregthned up.

As soon as you're cleared, walking and light weights are the way to start. Once you've gotten a bit of stamina back from the walking, I suggest the recumbent bike, especially for building up the knee muscles in a low impact way. Also, walking on a treadmill MIGHT be easier than walking in the wild.

Thank you for all the advice. Ive never ran in my life and would love to run a mile one day.

I am not a runner either but I have been walking about 2 miles every day or every other day for the past few weeks. I have had both of my knees scoped and weighed 361 when I started this. I was sleeved on April 18th. Start walking in small increments and build up to a comfortable pace. You should be able to talk without being out of breath. Work up a sweat and bring a bottle of Water with you as you walk. I have an ipod and put that on and go.

I normally try and walk before I go to work so it is cool out I am not a fan of hot weather. I was just cleared to lift things so I am just doing some basic weight lifting curls as mentioned above muscle burns even more fat even when resting. Also I want to lose fat not muscle so siting on the couch will not do you any good.

The sleeve is a tool not the magic bullet. We all know that this is the begining of a new life for us and we have to be even more diligent on what we put in our bodies and what we do for exercise, if not we should have never have risked our lives for this surgery. Sometimes I need a kick in the butt. I am on a short stall stuck at 302 and so badly want to get under 300. That is my first goal then 25 lb increments until 200.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
