Sorry for the delay in posting my update, but this is the first day (3rd day post-op) where I felt well enough to be online, and up and about.

My surgery was May 16th and let me be honest, it was ruff. I woke up in extreme pain from the incisions and gas. Thanks to the good nurses at Sentara Potomac, they helped to alleviate a lot of the pain by keeping me full of pain meds and acid medicine. But still, the first day and night was ruff...I was constantly sleep deprived and receiving pain meds every two hours.

On the second day, Thursday, the soreness was gone but the gas almost knocked my socks off! I mean, literally, it brought tears to my eyes. I was constantly burping but it didn’t help too much. I then started walking the halls and that helped TREMENDOULSY!!! By that night, the gas had subsided.

On Friday morning, I woke up and was feeling about 80% myself. A little internal pain but it was manageable. I was discharged and sent home. Once I started the pain meds and other medicines at home, the level of pain dropped. This morning I woke up and felt SOO MUCH BETTER! I even went outside and drove to the post office. Today my goal is to sip, sip, sip...and walk, walk, walk.

I want to personally thank EVERYONE on this forum. If it wasn’t for you, I would have nothing to read to know what to expect. It feels a lot better to know what to expect than to walk into a situation with no clue!

Through it all, I can say I do not regret the procedure at all. Overall, it was what I expected! Please keep me in your prayers and I can only hope I see a fraction of the success I have read about on this forum!!!

Glad you're home & doing better. My surgery was on Monday, 5/14, and each day gets better and better for me too! It takes me all day sipping, but I do manage to get all my fluids in now. I think all my surgical gas has left my system now because I dropped 2-1/2 lbs just yesterday! Anyway, I'm glad you're doing okay now!!

Same day as me! :D Glad to hear you're doing so well, I think being out of the hospital and back into your own space helps a lot too! Your doctor lets you drive?? I'm not allowed to until at least my check up next Tuesday. How are you doing with getting in your fluids/protein?

No my docotor dose'nt let me drive, I chose to drive..lol. When I drove that morning, I did not take the pain meds until I returned. I had to get to the post office, so I planned accordingly :)

As for my Protein, the first day I only got in about 30grams...but yesterday, I got in my whole 50g! I was pretty happy about that :) .

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
