I have been overweight all my life. My highest weight was 262. I weighed 242, 25 years ago, so you can see it's been a long time struggle for me. I am diabetic, have high cholesterol and high blood pressure, but it just didn't stop me from eating badly. I finally decided I wante to live! I went to see Dr. Kim last April. My insurance company had about a 4 month waiting period, and some hoops to jump through.

My husband started the same time I did. Since he had more to lose than I did, he went first and had his surgery in October. Due to financial challenges I had to wait till the new year to have mine. He lost 60 pounds pre-surgery and has lost 35 pounds post-surgery. I am not sure what his goal weight is but probably another 100 pounds.

My only regret is that I waited so long to do this. My primary goal is to get off all my medications and get in good shape physically as well, BUT to be honest, I can't wait to shop for clothes that are not in the "Fluffy girl" section. It would be a first since my teen years! Then I am trying to decide on a type of job where I can use my newfound fitness and added energy.
