Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..

Recommended Posts

I haven't been in a serious relationship in a couple of years. I am curious as to the affect surgery will have on my love life and friendships. I'm scheduled for July 29th

I've been going a little crazy and dating a lot! It's been very freeing to feel attractive again. But now I'm really noticing my loose skin and may slow down until after plastics when I imagine I will feel more confident about allowing someone else to see my body.

It's hard regardless of she you start back up. I don't care how good you feel or look, it's hard to put yourself back out there. I've had my heart broken a couple times already but it is what it is. Got to keep on smiling!!

I know I look and feel great, but those voices in all of our heads can and will get to us from time to time.

Here's a pic. I am very happy about my changes but there's sooo many reminders of my fatness.

Well I am recently single now, its been a while since I have been single. The man who I was with we both had came to a mutual understanding that the relationship that we were in wasn't going anywhere. We lost the passion we had with each other, the major reason behind loosing that said passion is because we lived apart in different cities. He is still my best friend, and was with me when I made this life decision to have this surgery. I am not in any hurry to get into another relationship but I will say I do like the new upcoming attention that I have been getting, makes me feel pretty and wanted again. I am looking forward to going on dates again.

I was sleeved 4 years after my divorce from a 15 year marriage and didn't date at all in those 4 years. Jumped back in the pool after about 40 pounds was off, (1/2 way to goal) and have been at goal for about 5 months now. The last 9 months have been... interesting! For a while there, I'd have 4-5 dates per week, all first dates. I was determined I wasn't gonna miss A THING! I even found one who's had the sleeve a year before me which was kind of exciting, but there was no "spark" :-(. After a while, it gets disappointing and exhausting to keep doing that. In those 9 months, I'd only found one who I REALLY wanted to date and he turned out to be a player, (broke me a little for a while), but I was determined to get back out there! Recently found what I like to call "a little bit 'o normal"... Nice man, good career, kinda hot, age appropriate, rides a motorcycle, (non- bikers are deal breaker for me) and he makes me feel beautiful in spite of my "loose fit skin". Trying not to get too excited too soon, but life is good right now!

I'll never understand this, but it seems to be the trend..

to me it's like.. "Hey baby, I want to do something that's going to guarantee I'll never be fat again." What kind of idiot says no to that?? Sign me up for a girlfriend that's not capable of gaining weight ever again please! lol.

Hi all .. One thing I find weird is that some people seem to think that weight loss will solve relationship issues.. Or help you find someone..maybe it's just me but..I don't to be with someone who only wants to be with me cause I'm thin or look a certain way. I'm not doing this to find love or to lure a man. I'm doing this for me for my health and my own wants..not the wants of some hypothetical dude who wouldn't have looked at me twice pre op.

I get hit on alot!!!! Lol even at my highest 379! N getting along has never been an issue for me. Is not a cure to relationship issues

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
