Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

M scheduled for my surgery April 26th and I was curious to see who else would be walking in the shoes of April with me. Tell me how you feeling? What's on your mind? Any worries? Second thoughts?

I'm 3 weeks out today, and looked down at my lowest lap site to see..... 1 cm of white suture sticking out, in a loop. WTF? Odd that it should decide to make an appearance now. Now wonder why that site's been so itchy!

I also have that with my lower left. Funny thing is, my upper right one opened up a bit as the glue wore away and I don't see any there. LOL

I was sleeved 4/12..... To date I have hardly NO APPETITE! I am thirsty alot and the smell of protein grosses me out. Its rough lol. I am getting in my water but am soooo over this protein shake stuff! Are any other early April Sleevers going thru this?

I was sleeved 4-10 and feel the same way! I wish I could guzzle water! I tried special K protein and that seems to be ok even tho it has 18 g of sugar. It doesn't make me vomit! I like the babyel light cheese!

I have just been sleeved 2 wks. ago and am starting to get hungry on some days. I am worried that I am not going to lose weight.

I too am done with the protein shakes, and am glad that I found one in a shot form so I don't think that I am drinking just for my protein. It is at the point that I don't want to eat just too keep the calories low. I am averaging 650 calories a day. Some days are lower and 2 days were close to 800. When doing so I am averaging 70 grams of protein.

My doctor wants me to transition to solid food for protein to make it as natural as possible when it is safe to. I know it is not good, but I am on the scale almost everyday and it worries me when i don't see the scale going down when I am in the "honeymoon" phase of my surgery

Any suggestions?

Step Away From the SCALE! I am 3 weeks out and I only touch a scale at the Dr.'s right now.

I had to quit weighing. Once I got off the liquids, which was mostly soup, saltines, broth, I started losing. I think all of the sodium, even though a lot of what I ate was low sodium, made me retain water. I did not lose any weight on my pre-op liquid diet...again, I think it was too high in sodium. Also, I noticed that I will weigh the same thing for four or five days, and then all of a sudden, I have afive or six pound drop. My friend said she would stay the same for a month, and then drop 10 - 12 pounds. She did that consistently for 6 months... So everybody loses a little differently. Again, don't forget the NSVs...they are very important. I celebrate something every single day. Like, for instance, I painted my toenails. I actually gave myself a pedicure. That has not happened in a couple of years. I could actually cut my toenails, push back the cuticle, and paint them....my bladder incontinence has completely disappeared. I have only lost 30 pounds, and already, there are a mutlitude of victories and things to be grateful for. I can only imagine what is in store for us!!!!!

Thank you Ladies,

I will stay away from the scale from now on. Kiki, I think you are right. The sodium can cause it as well and after I posted I found out another reason that I can retaining water

so I will wait until my 4 wk post op and see where I am at. I will let the little accomplish out weigh the scale for the moment

Since were all april sleevers heres my question.how many pounds did u loose 2 weeks post op? I would really like to see if their are big differences. I lost 15lbs., anyone else............

Post op I lost 12 pounds in the 2 wks. the rest of my weight loss was pre-op

At 2 weeks postop i lost 23 pounds, yeah! I call in my weight every Thursday to my dietitian.

I have lost 24 pounds at 4 weeks post-op from day of surgery.

I was 10 pounds down at 1 week. I did not weigh at 2 weeks, and then I had heard about the 3-week stall...so at 4 weeks, I am down 24. I weighed a few times and it wasn't moving, and then I waited a few days and it was down 6 pounds...so I try not to weigh every day or think about it every day. I have probably lost 31 pounds total...I did not lose weight on pre-op liquid, but lost about 7 or 8 pounds during the month before surgery.

I am exactly three weeks out, and tomorrow I start soft foods. I love the protein shakes and how easily I get in my protein, so I'm worried that I will gain weight when I transition to food. I've just started getting a little bit hungry, but what will happen when I get real food tomorrow? I'm really worried :$

The number of pounds lost is definitely interesting to hear, but a total body percentage is probably more meaningful. I've only lost 22 pounds, but that's 10% of my body weight from surgery day. Whoo hooo!

ilikenu - I complained and moaned so much those first three post-op weeks. Liquids?! For three weeks?! But I want food!! Well, I've been allowed soft food for the past week and let me tell you, it's not all I thought it would be. I think I was imagining the feeling I used to get when I ate a huge meal and that feeling is gone, baby gone. It's nearly impossible to get the 80 grams of protein a day that my Nut wants me to have, and I feel like eating is more of a chore. Those protein shakes you could just sip, sip all day. Now I have to remember to stop drinking, wait 30 minutes, find something smushy and spend the next 20 minutes eating an ounce of food, only to wait 45 minutes for another drink. I know things will get better, but it's definitely not as easy as I had hoped.

BUT - refer to that first paragraph! There is 10% less of me than there was four weeks ago!
