linkybo got a reaction from shellbell33081 in Crabby And Sick Of This Post Op DietSo the torani syrup - I have lots of those! You think mix like a sugar free caramel into a vanilla Protein shake would be good? I'm definitely trying the strained hot/sour soup. Love that soup. Great idea.
This definitely feels like torture. I would give up all my secrets for a bite of soft scrambled egg!
My surgeon is super strict with the diet plan, it even says in bold: NO Jello, NO CREAMED Soups, NOTHING BLENDERIZED, NO YOGURT
Part of me wonders if he really expects people to follow the plan? I mean, if he says three weeks and we all try but fail at two weeks, maybe that's what he expects of us. Haha - those are my tastebuds typing.
Watch out Sexy - here I come! Unless I fall asleep on the way from lack of energy....

linkybo reacted to CrazyCatLady in Crabby And Sick Of This Post Op DietI would like to add a thought from our dear friends at Wikipedia:
"A liquid diet is also used as a torture technique."
Amen.
A friend of mine who is a 2 year RNY post-op said to me: "No one enjoys the liquid diet...they simply survive it. If they're lucky."

Yay! So happy things are going well for you. Won't it be cool when our too small clothes are too big?

linkybo got a reaction from CathyT59 in 3 Week Post Op22 is awesome! Just think, without the surgery, it might have been plus 2 instead of down 22.
I know it's going to be difficult not to be a slave to the scale, but a pound a day sounds pretty sweet to me. Maybe they should take our scales along with our extra tummy space and not give the scale back for 6 months?

Courtney - can you just add my name to all of your posts, because I'm right along with you! My brain keeps going to the little things to worry about, I think to avoid the obvious stuff. I can't have any hair product. Oh, no! And no deod? What if I'm so nervous I'm stinky?!
Next year, we won't worry about how our hair looked, if our skin was moisturized or if we were a little smelly. We'll just be so happy we did it! Good luck - I want an update when you can!

linkybo reacted to 4ALongerLife in NervousAll of your jitters are perfectly normal. I know I couldn't even think straight before mine. I didn't want to tell anyone what I was doing - I was honestly ashamed that my weight was as bad as it was and felt ashamed that I couldn't "get it in control" by my own efforts. I've lost and gained 60 to 80 lbs many times before in my life, but as I get older, it's harder (esply with this lovely hypothyroid).
With all of that being said, I had complications after my surgery (no you won't have these! you will be ok) but I have since told people what my surgery was for and I am rather shocked at the way that it is accepted. With so many commercials and billboards in today's society about this as a way to battle the obesity that is plaguing our country, I guess it's being more accepted? Just stand firm in your decision. This is for YOUR health. Be proud of yourselves. This is not an easy decision, it's not the "easy way out" and you CAN use it as the tool it's supposed to be, just follow what your dr. says. Please do your breathing exercises, advance your diet as instructed in the ounces suggested... and stay positive! Use this opportunity as a way to regain energy and live life to the fullest.
For your daughter, tell her all will be ok, this is for you to be around much longer for her. Best of luck wished to you all.

Aren't husbands funny? (Sorry guys who are reading this!)
Really, I think it's just the non-surgery spouse who doesn't quite know what to say or what to do. My hubby said "I'll do the 2 week, 20 carb a day diet with you!" but he keeps forgetting and ordering mac and cheese and drinking milkshakes. I'm strong, though - people are going to drink milkshakes in front of me and that's their decision. My decision is to follow all the rules and kick some sleeve butt.

linkybo got a reaction from atkinsoncl in Role Call!I agree! Even though my husband is as supportive as possible, if I thought he wouldn't miss me, I'd sneak off and never tell hiim I had the surgery. It's just embarassing to think I weigh this much and the less people who have to know, the better. That's one reason I didn't choose the band - I don't want to have to go back and mess with fills. I want to fix this once and for all and move on as a NORMAL person.
April 10 for me too - gonna be a great day!

linkybo reacted to PonyUp in Role Call!April 10th, Dr. Aceves in Mexico! Thank goodness for this forum and others, I learned so much and besides the normal apprehensions I feel good about the decision. Also, I am not telling ANYONE (other than hubby and only because I had to!) so I really appreciate this site and support of fellow sleevers! I keep thinking how good the first twenty pounds off will feel..or I am at least hopeful of!

linkybo got a reaction from atkinsoncl in Nerves Are Starting To Kick InCourtney - I think we were on the same eating plan as 14 year olds! I was thin and all I ate was a single hoho for lunch and small bag of jelly Beans for dinner. No wonder I'm here now, huh?!
Yay for no more pretending to not exist so people don't notice us. And let's all think skin tightening thoughts so we look awesome in those swimsuits!

linkybo got a reaction from Ms skinniness in 7 Week Gain?!I'm two weeks preop, but it must be maddening to be following all the rules and barely eating just to hop on the scale and see a gain. That's definitely the kind of thing that would make me think "Well, this diet isn't working - I should give up and have a cookie." That scale can be such an enemy. Your gain is probably just your body storing water to repair the muscles you're building - hopefully the scale will show results for you soon! Good luck!

linkybo got a reaction from Jack Fabulous in I Just Got It Done ThursdaySounds like the first week is the worst. I'm not scheduled yet (fingers crossed for soon!) but I love to hear it's easier than c-sections. I've had 4 of those also and they send you home with a newborn.
J.Fabulous - I think our pups are related!

linkybo got a reaction from momtoprincesses in Advice NeededOh, that's miserable! I had gestational diabetes with my last baby and I just had to check my blood sugar wtih a finger prick a few times a day. Maybe your OB will let you do checks for a week and see how your numbers are instead of doing that horrible three hour test? If you just barely tested over, your finger pricks will probably be fine and you can have one less thing to worry about!
