Anyone ever done a 'colon cleanse' ?

Recommended Posts

I keep seeing these infomercials, and ads/websites online about colon cleansing, and the pictures of the gross gross stuff that people, umm... eliminate from themselves while doing it... and if there's a chance that there is that kind of crap inside me, I want it out!!!

Have you seen those pictures? Oh man...

Anyways, has anyone ever bought a colon cleansing system, or maybe tried that Master Cleanser/lemonade thing? Did it work? Did you feel cleansed? Did you expell huge, massive, clumpy, disgusting things?

For all I know, and I've read this as well, that it's all a scam, and it's totally unnecessary, but I just want to know what you guys think, and if you've had any experiences with it.

Thanks!

Mandi

haha, I know. I can cleanse my colon pretty well myself with a chicken, Frank's RedHot sauce and banana pepper sub from Subway! Just curious about the 'other' ways :)

:omg: I have had a Colonic in the past before being banded and you would be surprised at what is left in your body even if you do have regular BM's. But I never ordered anything I went to a professional. It is an experience. But normally your body is still not getting rid of all the waste it produces.

What constitutes a 'professional'? Is it a doctor that does it? Is it a one time thing? Is it where you get the tube/water in the butt? How much ... umm... bleh, was removed?

Sorry guys if this gets gross! I'm genuinely interested!

The lady I went to was licensed and it took about 45 minutes for each session, I can't remember how much it was because she did a package deal for me and my mom.

This is what the table and set up looked like where I went. It really isn't as bad as you would think.

I bought a colon cleansing packet several months back and have been too chicken to try it. I have had Constipation problems ALL of my life, and take daily prescription that is suppose to help, but like with everything I've tried, it works for a while then doesn't. I am suppose to go back to the doctor later this month, but he wants to do ANOTHER colonoscopy (the first was non conclusive - too much impaction).......and I just don't want to do that now (really because I'm having other issues and don't want to deal with that now). Something I have tried and works pretty well is warm salt (non idoized salt) water........there is a website (don't remember it now) and more specific instructions, but I just usually do about 8 oz and about a tablespoon of salt........do it first thing in the morning (which is about 10 am before I can drink that much)....it will work in about an hour or so, so I normally do it on the weekend.

You could use what some dr's prescribe to their patients to prep for a colonoscopy:http://www.tufts-nemc.org/medicine/gastro/Colon-prep%20Fleet's%20Phospho%20Soda.htm

I've used the OTC prep and the prescription prep solution and both are wretched, but both totally clear you out.

From a medical standpoint, colon cleansing are NOT necessary and could cause electrolyte imbalances (loss of potassium). If you want a healthy colon, stay well hydrated, eat fruits and veggies, get in Fiber in the form of whole grains and stick to a low fat diet.

First of all...of course Mandi....leave it to you to bring up this particular topic!!! Colon Cleanse???!!! ewwwwwwwwwwww I have never seen these infomercials....what the hell are they doing in Miramachi!!!!

Second of all: LMAO @ Big Paul....okay....now THAT was funny.

Lastly: a PROFESSIONAL?? They have people who are PROFESSIONAL POOP SHOOT CLEANSERS???? OMG!!!! What kind of qualifications did they have to get for THAT? (or are they merely chimney sweepers on their day off?). Who THINKS of this stuff??!!! God you learn something new every day...and here I thought I was so cosmopolitan!!! Ummmmmm....do they have professional nostril cleaners too???

*shakes head*.

I'm stickin' to what Elizabethsew said.

*mutters to self*.

I ordered a kit from ebay ..

http://cgi.ebay.com/the-Colon-Cleansing-Kit-intense-colon-cleanse-detox_W0QQitemZ120003644729QQihZ002QQcategoryZ67555QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's created by an herbalist who studied herbology, etc. blah blah blah.

So I put together the stuff, it's made of ginger, psyllium husk and some other stuff, with apple juice for about 5 days..

All I can tell you is... the very next day I started to see large....long.. almost 2 feet long of stuff come out. Black, rubbery, then orange.. then weird things.. I can't say what they were but all I know is it cleaned me out like never before. My belly was the flattest it's ever been and my skin broke out for about 2 days..from detoxification. Then after 3 days it started to clear up.

I felt a burst of energy during the cleansing. I felt alert.. happy, smiley, shiny :).

Lost 7lbs doing it. 7lbs of garbage, etc. You are allowed to have juice, and some other things on the list but that's it.

Scary stuff but was unbelieveable. I'm going to order another kit. I haven't done this in 2 or 3 years.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
