Before And After Gastric Sleeve Surgery Photos

Recommended Posts

My first before and after photos.

It's only 2.5 months out, and being low BMI obese, I knew it would go super slow. My fat is very fluffy, I was size 18 and pushing 20, with thunder thighs to make Barney the dinosaur proud. So even though my pounds were low, I was too big for plane seats etc.

But being low BMI, the loss is so much slower than many, which is frustrating even though I've had no stalls except the two weeks post surgery. So maybe posting this first progress report will encourage other low BMI obese friends.

The first pic is right before surgery. I'd lost 13 lbs already on pre op. The second is today, 2.5 months out and only 19 lbs less. I have done 8 weeks of Jillian Michaels app on beginning level, not doing any high impact.

Can I ask your height, weight and BMI stats? Im 5’2” was 41 BMI and was finally diagnosed with severe sleep apnea which allowed me to be approved at 35 BMI. That’s when my surgeon asked me to drop 10-15 pounds. Everyone at higher BMIs lose faster and reading your post kinda makes me sad that I’ll lose slow too. And, what is fluffy fat???

You look great [emoji847][emoji847]

Just thought that, on the last Sunday before my surgery on Thursday, I'd show you where I was up to now (4:20pm on October 8th, 2017).

Will get sleeve op this week. And, probably between January and Easter, I'll have the hernias sorted. LOOKING FORWARD TO BIG CHANGES in these profile pics.

The red/pink shirt was tailored to fit me in late 2006 when I'd reached about 185-186kg. It's looking baggy now that I am 162kg.

And, from 11.5 years ago ... when I was at my all-time high (almost 192kg or 422 lbs). The T-shirt is a XXXXXXL (6XL); I have it somewhere. Might get my wife to take a photo of me in it before surgery too.

Hi everyone- just an update... I’m still doing very well maintaining after 2 years. I did gain 20 lbs back but that’s from working from home, vacationing, snacking during the holidays, and drinking. It’s much easier for me to lose weight now. I can eat about 3-4 oz depending on what so eat. I still always eat my Protein first and my bad carbs last. I take my Vitamins religiously and drink lots of Water.
My life is very happy and I’m still so glad with the choice I made for my life. Having no gallbladder has also been an easy transition. I’m between a size 10-12 and although I gained weight, all my clothes still fit. Exercise is what I’m lacking because I work from home now and have been working at 430am. That’s been making me tired.
Happy New Year... and Ill try to keep posting my updates as best as I can! Hope everyone is doing well...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
