African American Sleevers

  • Popular Post

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

could it be you're impacted and need an enema?

I would drink milk of magnesia every day until then. That is a serious matter.

Since surgergy I drink MOM at least 1 time a week to prevent bowel obstruction/locking.

Hello all. I am a potential sleever in Memphis, TN. I meet my surgeon next week.

I'm from Southaven, Ms...how are U doing with your sleeve?

Hey everyone. Just an update. I was sleeved on 10/22. When I weighed myself at home the day of surgery, I was 214.8lbs. Today I got on the scale and I weighed 206.4. I ended up coming down with a cold so it is a pain to keep blowing my nose and coughing up phlegm. I habe been walking around. I walked twice yesterday. I am going to try to get more protein down today since I only got 14oz down yesterday. I calculated it wrong yesterday. I thought I had 17 but it was only 14. So I need to get more in today.

Hello everyone' date=' just passed my 3 year mark about 2 weeks ago, officially down 305 pounds.

Really glad to be here![/quote']

Congratulations to you!!!

I hope you feel better soon. At the beginning it's hard to get in all your protein and liquids.

I'm on day 10 of my 14 day pre-op. I getting nervous and have thoughts of backing out. Has anyone experience this situation?

Don't give up... Think of your health and the benefits!!!
