African American Sleevers

  • Popular Post

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

What's a gladiator smoothie?

The gladiator smoothie is the healthiest smoothie at Smoothie King. Get it plain with any type of fruits from the list. The small cup is 180 calories and 45g of protein. I usually do strawberry and pineapple or strawberry and raspberry. The rest of the day I eat my hard boiled eggs for snack or breakfast...a few shrimp or piece of chicken for dinner and my water. Its easier for me. The smoothie also makes me full.

How about maybe starting a group instead of using a thread? Just my 2 cents

I think that would be an excellent idea!!!

PLEAAAASSSSEE just make sure you let it be known to all if you start the group, because I have come to love this thread and dont want to lose out on the conversations and support as I am sure others feel the same. Thanks for starting this

I'm not sure if ATLGirl is still posting in this thread since it's from 2011 but, I wanted to let you all know there IS a African American Group. Just look under Community and then Social Groups. :)

i had one of these today with peaches. Yum

I just noticed 41 g of sugar. I still lost 3 pounds in 3 days but I wonder what our docs say about sugar content. I might havr to make my gladiator smoothie at home with raw honey to avoid the sugar. Btw I tried the gladiator with strawberry protein today... yummy!!!

Hi, new to the site and checking out all the tips and motivation. I'm scheduled to be sleeved in November which seems like years from now with the recent decision to have surgery.

My Doc would have a fit. If the sugar is high I wonder how many carbs are in it ? Be very careful with sugar and carbs

Yep...41g of sugar...1 carb. I will try to make one at home. Surprisingly the 41g of sugar is the only sugar I have in a day. My doc said just eat less and protein first....protein protein protein. Are any of you all using myfitnesspal

Can anyone recommend a good gas pill?
