. I was also sleeved by Dr. Hungness on May 12th and my experience so is the same as yours I had a nice recovery, I'm getting my Water and Protein in and I'm also down 25 pounds, what food stage are you on...

Me and my husband both had surgery Thursday. Me at 8am him at 1040. Two days post op and I am so glad we did do same day. No need to explain what im feeling or vice versa. He is in more pain than me. But we still managed to push out a nice mile walk.

Although now I feel like I was hit by a truck? Is there a limit on really how hard we should push? Everyone says walk walk and more walk. Just dont want to cause more damage?.

I'm needing some prayer and cheerleaders. I'm exactly one week from surgery and down 13lbs. I should be excited but I feel so bad the weight loss means nothing! I still can't get everything down and daily pray that I don't dehydrate due to severe heartburn. They kept me in the hospital for 4 days because of it and still no combination of drug is working. I'm concerned about potential Hair loss and needing to live with this pain. ..It's way too much. Really feeling like I made the wrong decision right now. Who knew that heart burn could be so significant? ??@!@@@

Diva, praying for relief for you soon. My husband and I are 2 days postop, and its funny how different we both feel. He is in alot more pain than I am.

I am worried about dehydration as I barely got 8 oz in today! Keep your head up, this too shall pass.

Mcluvin, my doctor says I should be walking from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed. You guys just have to listen to your body. If you feel like you've been hit by a truck, then you should rest.

You are so right, learning to listen to my new body!

McLuvin you are a sweetheart. I'm doing much better 10 days post opt. Every day I get a little stronger and a little smaller! 20lbs down! My heartburn is now manageable and I'm getting my Protein in. The body's ability to heal itself is nothing short of a miracle. Be encouraged and keep sipping. .. one day it will all go down.

So now that I have had my Pre-op (3 weeks before surgery) I'm more nervous then ever. He told me about the hair falling out, when I asked him how long I'd be out of work he says it depends, some people have went back to work after 3 days. I'm really. He feels like I'm not going to have issues, he's says it's not to far off from when I had my gallbladder removed as far as pain goes. My biggest fear is the whole sipping and drinking and making sure I get all my Protein and Fluid intake in... am I alone on this? Has anyone had these fearing going into surgery?

Hair fall out is no joke -- I cut 85% off at 3 months out and still fall out at almost 6 months out now. Im getting over 100g of protein daily and take all of my Vitamins. You have to sip and walk like its your full time job to prevent dehydration and Constipation. Trust me I learned the very hard way. I had surprise hiatal hernia repair pain from hell. Things do get better but its not easy for everyone -- I'm on Instagram @Sleever1212. Good luck!!

Trust me...it gets way better. I'm almost nine months out and just 20 pounds from goal weight of 130-135. Just follow the plan set by your doctor and exercise. Eventually, everything falls into place and you won't remember the beginner blues.

I had a hernia repair and I have to say my surgery was not bad AT ALL! I think it is different with everyone, with a wide array of variables. Some people don't like surgery and it will just be horrible regardless, some people's pain tolerance is very different and some people's surgery recovery is just down right awful. Try not to base your expectations on others experience. Use it as a tool of Preparedness but not as a crutch for fearfulness. You got this!!!!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
