New diet i found

I've been chugging down grape juice but feeling a little guilty about it. (empty calories!) What are you guys drinking?!?

All I drank on my 1/2 day 1 (that's as far as I got with it, after my mid-afternoon low blood sugar slump) was coffee and Water. So maybe if I had added in some Cran-grape? I might not have slumped so badly? I'll be looking for replies on what else you folks are drinking...that might help me.

Right now I'm having a bowl for an afternoon snack. :hungry:

Hey Kathy - that seriously may explain your low blood sugar slump!! I'm going to assume that THIS is the reason for the juice - so we don't feel like we're going to pass out!

Hmmm......Funny, what are you drinking? Did you ever feel the feelings that Kathy did?!?

I am just drinking Water and black coffee. I don't know why you had the blood sugar dip. Maybe it is a telling sign that you have some hidden carbs somewhere in your diet and the slump was a signal of your body being dependant on it.

I try not to do fruit juice, because for me the sugar in it triggers a craving for sugar. But from what I can tell, if it is 100% juice then go for it. I just stick to black coffee and Water, and I have even gotten rid of all artificial sweetners. Trying to keep everything fresh. LOL I am getting a little ocd'ish about this all LOL

The Soup is so tasty, and it is a negative calorie receipe. For those who don't understand that, it means that it takes more calories to burn this Soup in digestion than you are taking in by eating it. The more you eat, the more you lose simply because you are filling up on a food that is basically nothing. BUT it is full of water and nutrients from the vegetables. Its a fabulous concept! LOL food that makes you lose weight. Didn't we all see these on the front cover of the tabloids in the checkout line? LOL But it seems to be working, and I am happier than a pig in slop.

I hope everyone is doing well. I will let y'all know what my weight is tomorrow. Are you as excited as me?

Yup, that's it. I agree with that 100%. 'Cept my carbs aren't hidden, they are all over the place! It's just worse than I thought...oy vey. No wonder I can't get below 180. Too many carbs! And my body sure did tell me so, didn't it! It was so odd, I just got the shakes and felt like I needed to eat! Next time, if it does that, I'll be sure to have some fruit juice ready. Thanks girls!

Kathy this might have been a very good thing for you! It opened your eyes to something that might be what has been stalling you. I think before you go on the diet you should try to ween yourself down on the carbs. That way you don't have such a dramatic craving. I would be so scared that it could hurt you!! (((HUGS)))

Ok...so my official weigh in this morning and I am down to 320. Total loss this week is 13 pounds. :)

I have 2 questions.

1. I usually have a ZeroCarb Isopure shake for Breakfast. Should I skip this?

2. Bananas are one of the few foods that dont work well for me. Any suggestions for what to do on that day? Could I just make it another veggie day?

I started yesterday. Aside from being hungry around 8 PM I did great. I don't think I was actually hungry I think my head was thinking I should be eating more. The Soup is really good. I think it will be perfect for the days following a fill.

The Soup is really awesome! and yes!! I will be doing this till it gets old, or I get old. Which ever comes last. LOL

I asked about the bananas with my nutritionist. She said I could just do milk that day, and try to find some other potassium rich foods to try. Either that or take some supplements.

As for the Isopure, I actually stopped drinking mine while on this diet. Just because i wanted to follow it to a T. But it is up to you. I think customization is important to make you stick with it!!

Good luck everyone!! I hope you all enjoy this! I can't beleive how many people are starting this diet! LOL

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
