after a week I fell off the wagon of the pre-op diet

Recommended Posts

moment of weakness, I ate a few pita chips. 3 more days of liquid preop and I know I can make it but I just am STARVING tonight, I was so busy today didn;t get to have my Protein Shakes (I have to be near a bathroom or I will be in big trouble within 10 minutes). Just drank one so hopefully this was my only screw up.

ok, shall i send in my doberman dogs to rip you to shreds?

keep up with the Protein as that helps you stay full..bathroom or not..did you ask your dr about immodium yet, that will give you some ease..and drink...(also help with fullness)

yeah its hard but worth it..no more, pinky swear

carolinagirl - you are hilarious!

dolphintattoo - I'm sure you're not the first one to have a slip, nor will you be the last! You're only human. It is hard and although I am still in the early part of my journey, it will get easier, especially when you see the results of your hard work. Keep the faith and hang in there!

I understand completely. I had a very hard to sticking to the diet. I was starving the whole time. For me, the shakes did nothing to satisfy my hunger. I was told if you must eat something, eat a very small amount of very lean Protein. I was told no more than 2 oz. I know it's really hard. I felt like crying the whole time I was on my pre op diet, but it will be worth it.

It does not get easier, so toughen up or you are in for a long journey!

my what a supportive post, must be hard for you to remember what your early days were like. I have seen enough of your posts to know this is not your first unhelpful post, but I'm not a newbie to internet message boards either so I know enough to avoid feeling bad because of a know it all.

Keep telling yourself that you can do it. I have days that I am starving and days that I have to make myself eat because I am not hungry at all. Don't be too hard on yourself. It's a lifestyle change and doesn't happen overnight.

It is definitely hard! But keep the end result in mind, this part is only temporary. You can do it!

It will be allright. I fell of the wagon more than once. My surgery went perfectly. And yours will too. The pre op diet is brutal. If you do research you will see that some surgeons require as little as 24 hour liquids for surgery. No worries!

Just the fact that you are staying pretty close to your pre-op diet without the lap band, a big congrats is in order. Luckily, my doctor didn't have a pre-op diet. Before I got my lap band, I was at the point I couldn't stay on any diet at all.

3 days left? You've so got this! You are almost there. I'm watching you and following close behind.

How much weight did your doctor tell you to lose before the surgery? I was told to lose at least 10 pounds.

All you can do is your best. If few pita chips is the worst you have done, it can't be that bad. I'd say just put it behind you. Good luck.

Day 7 on pre-op for me!! Yes..it is soooo hard but I have not "caved". I'm not saying this to upset you....I just don't want the guilt of a slip to jeapoardize the whole process for me (or else I woud have done more damage than a few chips). Get back on the pre-op and you will be fine. Put it behind you! Good luck!

Day 8 of 14 prep and today was the worst. Mostly b/c the shakes are starting to taste awful! I chugged two more and a bunch of Water and now my cravings are gone. :). You can do it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
