My port incision is infected :(
I had surgery on January 26th and breezed through with no problems and was healing well. Then last weekend I noticed it was weeping and puss-y. My doc lanced it and has put me on 2000mg of antibiotic a day. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced a port infection post op and how did it go for you? Thanks!

Still Tired and Weak 5 days post op
I am 5 days post op and doing great. No nausea. No vomiting. No surgical pain. I still have the gas discomfort but I understand that's normal and it is subsiding. I am still feeling very weak and tired. I'm up and fixing my food, walking the gas off, and reading or knitting but I am getting exhausted and have to lay down for a nap. Did anyone else experience this kind of tiredness?

Psych Eval
No worries on this. I am a crisis counselor with a master degree in counseling psychology. As it turned out, the psychiatrist my surgeon sent me to was someone I had worked with for years! Their job is to make sure you are ready for the major changes your going to go through, and your expectations are realistic. They are not there to turn you down.

after a week I fell off the wagon of the pre-op diet
It will be allright. I fell of the wagon more than once. My surgery went perfectly. And yours will too. The pre op diet is brutal. If you do research you will see that some surgeons require as little as 24 hour liquids for surgery. No worries!

First day of full liquid diet
Drink your water. My surgeon had me on the 10 day liquid diet too and it was hell. It's the worst part. It get immediately better after surgery. I am 4 days post op and doing and feeling super great. Hang in there. These next 10 days do not represent what it's going to be like!

Am I dehydrated?
You don't ever have to wait for a doctor to send you to the ER. I bet you feel just terrible , to the ER and let them take care of you.

The dreaded BM talk
I had my surgery on January 25 2013. I used a $2.00 saline fleet enema to get things going. The pain medications given to you during surgery, in recovery and for post op pain are opiates. They cause constipation. I had this same problem when I broke my leg and with my gallbladder.
