6 months out, starting to struggle...HELP!

Recommended Posts

I was banded 4/2012, since i have lost approximately 35 pounds. The last 2 months, not a pound. I have had two small fills however I NEVER feel full, I only get stuck. Recently I have been eating more than I know I should be able to. I am also exercising. I have a fill scheduled for 1/17/13 but I need some help getting back on the success train. I am praying my weight loss doesn't stop here.

Hi Md - I am sure it's frustrating for you. Tell me about your exercise - what your are doing - frequency at which you are doing it and the time of day. Also how many hours of sleep do you get each night ?

We don't eat to feel full any longer we eat to feel satisfied there is a big difference. Stick with your alotted amounts and that is it. Weight stalls happen and sometimes longer then we want. Up you Protein and slack starchy carbs if your eating them.

My experience was similar but now, 6 months later, I can look back and I know I would have done things different. I too was getting stuck a lot. So, I went in to have a small amount removed. Since then I've been too open and seldom get satiated on small amounts of food.

I look back and I now understand that I believed I was eating like a bandster but I really wasn't. I still ate too fast, too much and chewed too litte. I'm going in next week to have that small amount of saline put back in. I believe I can now eat like a bandster and get more from my band.

Cheryl is right. Make sure you're getting enough Protein and look for the satisfied signal. No need to feel full. You spent so many years with that feeling and so many of us relied on the feeling to sooth and compensate for us. Eat slowly, eat small and chew big.

You have to remember a lot of times you think your hungry when your really not. That's what my problem has been at times. You should be eating 3 small meals high in Protein and two Snacks. When I started I exercised a lot!! Like two hours a day 6 days a week. Try cutting carbs completely that helped me too. I'm two years out down 125lbs and counting. :) you will figure it out I promise. Good luck.

So true. Over these holidays I'm finding myself standing in the kitchen for some reason and grab something to munch on even though I'm not hungry. Old habits die hard.

I eat 3half cup meals and only a snack if I need it. Everyone is on different amounts according to doctor and what they said about not eating to be full is very true. It is one of the reason most of us measure so we know when to stop.

I think I need to get back to the basics with eating healthier foods, pre planning, and more exercise. I stared a couch to 5k app on my phone yesterday. It wast too bad. Good luck...you aren't alone!

Your weight loss will only stop if you want it too....

If it were me I would go back to tracking calories and portions.... The simple math should move the scales. I would also make an appointment with the dr and have a frank conversation with him about getting back on track.

Best of luck to you!

SLOW DOWN!! I am 4 years out and I am seldom hungry, it has nothing to do with my band it's just me. However, I got fat because when I did eat I ate way to much of the wrong foods. I ate because the family was eating or I didn't have anything else to do. I got a fill in July that took me to 5CC. I was fine until mid Nov. and I was getting pains when I ate. No clue about why so my DH made me go in on Dec. 5.. Doc gave me another .5 (he didn't read my intake form). I took it and hoped for the best, I had been loosing and gaining about 8 lbs forever. Well now I had to rethink some things. First---I did 2 days of liquids as told. I eased in slowly and I went back to watching HOW I was eating. I don't measure but I had gotten lazy and the portions were getting larger. Also I realized that I was taking bites that were to large! This is what had been causing my pain after eating, I found that by going back to the basics I was able to drop 6 lbs. in that many days. The goal is not to feel full, full is not necessary for us to survive. When you eat slowly it gives your brain time to get the message that you are eating. You may find that you really are getting enough without causing yourself discomfort. I get the Water in by struggle, I don't drink when eating but sometimes forget to drink during the day. I am trying to keep things moving. Keep an eye on your measurements and how your clothes fit. I remember the scale not moving but the jeans getting loose. You will do fine if you follow your rules. A weekly weigh in should be fine right now, your body is still adjusting to the changes you've made. Good luck.

@ Lee...I am an er nurse...I work 3p-3a, i must admit my sleep is not the greatest. Sometimes it comes between sleep and exercise. Usually when i am at the gym on my own time I do cardio for about 30 mintues on treadmill or eliptical and then light weight training. If I am with my trainer we usually focus on core strength, balance, endurance, and weights.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
