Banded For 5 Years! Haven't Reached My Ideal Weight Yet!infact Gained! Most Of It My Own Doing...but Please Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I have been banded since September 2007. I weighed 235 pounds. Now almost 5 years later I am 194. I lost around 50 pounds in first 6 months. But after that try what I may the weight wouldnt budge. So I lost motivation. Only plus side was that I was eating healthy and trying to exercise regularly. I did maintain the weight for about 4 years but last year due to major life changes(change of country, job etc) I have put on around 15 pounds. I have found now another doctor to give me a fill and monitor my weight loss. I feel like a newly banded person now. Have lost 2 pounds in 5 days since being filled again.

During barium swallow and all, it was discovered that by trying to push down food and drinking so much Water with my meals I have actually dilated my food pipe. :-( I repent my lack of self control. I want this post to be a message to anybody whose weightloss has plateaued to NOT GIVE UP. DONT GO BACK TO OUR SAME UNHEALTHY EATING HABITS. OR YOU WOULD END UP WITH TWO STOMACHS LIKE ME!

Would appreciate all support...

Thanks for the tip - we need to learn from others experiences. I am loosing only about 5 lbs. a month (banded Jan 31, 2012). I lost more the month before surgery - 15 lbs. Trying so hard to stay motivated - I just want to lose 2 lbs. per week!!

I was banded in January 2011 and am now back to my pre-banding weight. Needless to say, I am discouraged. I don't have any allergy problems or anything like that - I just can't seem to lose the weight. I am going to have my fill level checked this week and maybe that has something to do with it. I do have some vomiting from time to time - so I don't think that I have too much fill.

I really sympathize with all of you who are discouraged. I have taken up walking and given up alcohol and red meat but am at a loss as to what else to do to speed up the process.

So what does the doc say about stretching your pouch? Will it ever go back if you start eating small amounts again>>>

Hi dear,

it is hard to find that perfect fill volume once you do that it becomes better...its taken me 5 years to find that... but I know others are luckier they have lost all their excess weight in less than a year. In past 10 days I have lost 5 pounds. things I am doing differently now are,

1- No Water 30 mins before or after meals. NO WATER OR ANY liquid WITH THE MEAL.

2- alcohol consumption stopped. i will have it only on special occasions now.

3-I walk everyday for 30 mins.

Try this. See if it helps.

Keep us posted.

Yes Judych and Happy Healthy,

Good news is that my esophagal expansion is not that much....it is there...but not scary like other pics he showed me in which people had expanded theirs to a new stomach size! He says human body is very adapting...and if i behave well it could return to normal. He has given me 3 months after that I go for an Endoscopy to figure out if any difference has been made.

Take care everyone! Dont lose motivation....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
