I am getting excited about monday! I have been reading and reading everyone's posts. I almost called off the surgery. I was going back and forth with myself. My skinny husband said he would support anything I decide. I went back to my pro/cons list. I am now 100% feeling great! And monday can't get here fast enough!

I was only going to tell my husband, parents, and one friend (who is watching my small children while i am at the hospital). But I decided to tell everyone! i am so surprised all the positive things I have heard!

I finally told my daughters yesterday. They are only 3 & 5. But I explained I was having surgery on my belly and that daddy would be the one to help them for a few days while I recovered. I never told them what the surgery is for. But I asked if they had any questions...only question I got was from my 5 y/o..."will you still be able to dance the black eyed peas experience with us?" The things that are important to them! I said of course! After I heal! She was ok with that :)

Good luck to everyone and thank you to all that have been writing their stories. I have enjoyed reading them.

I love your enthusiasum!!!! I am so excited and a little scared mine is FRIDAY!!! But i am ready for a change....on the diet this week and am down 7lbs!! Good luck!

Hi Sophia,

You and I have the same surgery date!

Now Day 14 of the pre-op liquid diet...still maintaining compliance. chocolate flavor Protein Powder has been the key to my success thus far. Yesterday I was co-hostess of my club's monthly luncheon (a date chosen months ago), and was required to be in attendance. I was able to focus on the guest speaker while sipping ice Water with a slice of lime and ignore the 40 other people in the room enjoying their lunch.

I will have Breakfast and lunch shakes today, and then on to Clear Liquids. I need to be at the hospital at 10:30 on Friday. Looking forward to moving on to the next stages of this journey.

A major thank you to all of the people who have been posting their pre and post op experiences...the encouragement and emotional support have been awesome!

..your willpower in the midst of everyone eating what must have been a really wonderful meal is commendable. lol. to say the least. not sure that i could manage that though. lol.

wishing you and everyone who has their surgery done this week, all the best to each one of you, and we are with you in spirit. looking foward to hearing your experiences as you have the surgery done.

I was banded on the 16 an I am starving I just want to eat some food. I did't have to do a pre-op liquid diet before my surgery. I am sticking to full liquids an trying to control my hunger but it is getting hard. Protein Shakes just aren't cutting it anymore. Does anyone have any advice.

Yeah they will ask.....my bp was way to low before the nurse had me take my meds....but it all turned out well....I think the only part that bothers me now is the port sight and where they fixed my hernia.good luck.

Just came from my upper GI Dr said everything looks great. Down a few pounds today, still with the protien drinks, Water & ice pops. some pain in abdomen still but I feel better today than yesterday. I am not hungrey at all but I stay out of the kitchen when my family is cooking and eating. I think the hardest thing is watching TV with all the food commercials. You never notice all of them untill you can't eat.

Well, I made it through dinner out last night - thank goodness for soup! But I must admit the hamburgers on the menus looked mighty tempting. But, I'm proud of myself, sipped my iced tea and small spoonfuls of Soup, minus the meat and veggies. Had my Protein Shake when I got home.

I'm 7 days post op and feeling good!

Good luck to all those being banded soon!

Good luck to all Feb bandsters! It works you know!!! Your life will be so much better soon. Just think about the good thing coming and not you thinks you are giving up. I have lost 144lbs over the last 2 years. I have reached my goal weight. My life has changed forever thanks to that band! 56" waist to a 36" waist. Get ready to be happy... That's my experience anyway. Todd Hartmann 5' 11" 185lbs 56 years old and feeling 36!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
