Marissa,

I'm sure you'll have lost even more weight by the time you have your surgery, just stick with it. Encourage your mom to stay on the diet. Apparently have the smaller liver is a huge benefit in surgery of this type. Good luck to both of you!

Hello Everyone! I was banded on the 14th, still kinda sore around the larger incision. I've been doing the Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes. Yesterday, I tried some blended potato Soup (2oz) and did fine with it. I'm just curious if anyone is having problems with getting in all their Protein? I do get full much faster. I've had some indigestion, but not much. So far, the worst part is having to sleep on my back. I can't wait for my stomach to heal enough that I can sleep on my stomach! Also, what kind of Vitamins are you taking?

I dont start eating "mushies" till wednesday (surgery was on the 15th) but I can agree with you that getting all my protein in is a challenge. I dont have an apetite at ALL. I'm taking a Gummy Vitamin as the chewable was giving me a gag reflex and really didnt feel like vomiting at this stage, or ever. Worst part the first two days was gas, now its like you with the sleeping. I can never get comfortable. I feel like a pressure on my chest or maybe the band pressing inside, idk, but i hope that goes away and soon.

Good luck!

Hi fellow Feb. banders! Just got my surgery on the Friday the 17th....I am still sore but making progress! I am finding this clear liquid diet very hard, but Tuesday I will be able to add some Protein shakes....never thought I would look forward to them this much! I feel like I have lost my best friend....food :(

To Mrs. Curtis, thanks so much. I am not nervous at all and in past situations have had a very high tolerance for pain so I hope that holds true this time also.

To Rnb24, grieve like you should. For many of us food has been our "friend" until we got to a point that it wasn't anymore (overweight). I know I will feel the same way---sad and angry probably but it will all be worth it soon.

I know how you feel. I have a big family and so much of what we do involves food. If I feed you, i love you. That sort of thing. But I have learned that I can still cook for them and also to make it more healthy. It is going to be a long road but we choose this road for a better us. Hang in there!

First post since surgery on Thursday...no lie its been adjustment. Which is weird considering all the blog reading and research I did. I was not aware I would feel as much restriction as I do. I can't finish a Protein Shake, I really can't finish anything. I am not hungry at all. I still have a lot of gas...feels like a pill stuck in my chest. I did nap today for 3 hours and on my port side. I am sore but recovery there the hardest bit is getting used to drinking and slowing down and making sure I get some nutrients. I have to force myself to drink some broth. I got sick and tried to puke but all that came was burps and lots of them. I wish I could make myself burp but its just not a talent I have. I am taking gas x strips and walking a bit. I got really dizzy and nasauous today..but I think it was because i was dehydrated. I had some broth and a sf popcicle and a sf Jello and that seemed to bring me back to reality. So today is not a good day but I am hoping tomorrow is better. I actually had a good day yesterday watched a few movies and seemed to be doing well...not sure why I fell apart today.

Well, I check in tomorrow morning at 5:30 for surgery. I was not required to do a pre-op diet, just clear liquids and the "fun prep" today. I have my broths, SF popsicles and SF Jello ready for week one. I don't add protien shakes till week 2. Mixed emotions this evening. I am excited and happy one minute and the next I think what in the world am I doing???? I sure am thankfull that I stumbled upon this site.. everyone has been so helpful and informative. Its scary kinda cuz I have read peoples recovery stories and they range from being up and about, feeling great first day all the way to being dead would be easier! I guess I can just hope for the best! Wishing all the rest of the February group the best and speedy rocoveries to those yet to go! See ya on the other side! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
