Nj2- congrats on fitting into a 14, that's major!

Good luck everyone with their upcoming fills, yay progress!

I have been stuck a few days one pound away from being lighter than my DH :( I will be so excited for that to happen. In other news, I fit in a 16 the other day and I thought it was a fluke but I decided to try on another pair and they fit too!!!!! I was just into size 24 prior to my band, whoohoo a 16 now!

My goals are less snacking and less wine ;)

Stating our goals is a great idea! I've got to get my daily Water in (I'm behind already today) and I've got to get back on track with eating leaner proteins! I've worked out in some form or fashion just about every day this week (except Wednesday). will try to make it back tonight while hubby is at work, and tomorrow after church. I feel yucky on days I don't exercise. I don't know about anyone else, but allergies have been working me over this week and I think that has an effect too. Happy Birthday and Congrats on the 14 NJ2NC! Meredith...you are so right! That's exactly how I feel. I may be a little obsessed too...I dreamed about my upcoming fill last night! LOL!

Just got sick for the first time. Made some salmon. Not dry, very tender and juicy. Not sure why I got sick. Felt stuck though. Any other time it's been because I took too big a bite and it passed after a little while. I'm not at restriction because the qty I can eat is still too much. At least I'm scheduled monday with the doctor.

kymie9899, I just had my first really stuck and then sick episode, too. I've been stuck before but only for about 5 minutes and then it would pass. This time is about 30 minutes of real pain and then out it came with clear mucus. Yuck and ouch! My last fill was last Monday and only with .3 cc Tonight I was eating chicken (in a sauce) and I may have not chewed well, I'm not sure. I'm going to go liquid and mushies tomorrow to let everything settle down. Before this I never even had a PB. Was coming to the site for info and thought to check on our Jan forum, and there was your post, too.

Hello to everyone, really love this forum. BTW, down 27 since banding 1/18. Happy weekend to all of youse and good job.

Hi Kymie and others that are plateauing!

I believe we are all in the same place and let me help you with what helped my system get back on the weight losing track. A good fitness friend of mine said that my body has adjusted to what I was doing and I needed to shock my body back into weight loss mode. So he told me to eat stuff that I would not normally end. High in calories, e.g. bread. I havent eaten bread since my pre-op diet in Dec. I ate stuff like sweets e.g. a cookie here and there. I did this for about a week and last week I lost 4 pounds. PLEASE PLEASE do not decrease your calories. You are putting your body in starvation mode and when you do eat, it will hold on to whatever food it gets and will not metabolize it properly. Which will put your metabolism back where all of ours were prior to lapband. That was mostly why all of us are overweight. Continuing the excercise but PUSH UP your CALORIC intake. I promise you that will help. I have been distant from the site because I was so down because I hadnt lost any weight for like 3 weeks and didnt understand why. Then this little (which it seemed at the time), but turned into BIG piece of advice has my body in the losing mode again.

Love you all and lets keep this losing train moving!!!

Kemisha

Hi mish, I have been doing that about once every 10 days or so, have more calories than usual, just over a bit, not too much. We'll see if I plateau.

Kymie, bummer! I haven't been stuck yet, glad you're seeing the doc tomorrow.

My second fill is tomorrow morning. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi everyone, second fill today! I tried to convince her to do 2 cc's, but she wouldn't, only 1 cc (tried the 1.5, still no dice, LOL). But the good news is that I can go back in 3 weeks instead of 4, and that will put me within the still free fills (3 months after surgery all fills are free). So I'm at 7 cc's in a 14 cc band. I don't feel any different yet, but hopefully it will come!

Hello all, Sound like a great idea.. My goals are:

1. Drink 64oz of Water today and another 64oz tomorrow.. I'm lucky if I drink 24oz per day normally I'm terrible with drinking water.

2. Get up off my butt and and get on my treadmill for no less than 30minutes

3. Chew slower, first time last night a piece of steak went down and wasn't chewed well, I felt every inch it traveled through my body wasn't a good feeling.

I reached 2 out of 3 goals. I did get up and go to the gym and worked on my 'couch to 5k' (iphone C25K free app) and I chewed much much slower. I'm still not getting all that water down, that has always been tough for me. I do get in 3 Protein Shakes per day, thats about 33oz of Fluid but I'm just not that thirsty in between and after waiting 30 minutes after I eat, I just simply forget to drink.

How did everyone else do?

Erica, going from a pre-band 24 to a 16 is FANTASTIC! congrats big time on that. I found I can get into those Lane Bryant 14 womans, but I can only fit a 16 in the misses dept. I'm still psyched about that tho! my goal is to be able to shop in any store that I want to! not quite there but working hard everyday.

Today I'm wearing a 16 misses jeans at work with a semi-fitted shirt (Still a little lose) and have gotten several compliments about how I've slimmed down..I guess this is really my first time out of the baggy clothes that people are really noticing the difference. They see me with my gym bag so that helps with answering the question "what are you doing to lose so much weight?" lol

JustDoIt130, Happy Fill Day!!

Sounds like we're all on the right path of getting healthy as well as thinner, if not totally on the scale at least NSV's. My doctor ony does fills every 6 weeks from what I'm being told. And if he feels you don't need it at your 6 week interval, he won't do it. My 2nd fill or shall I say my next visit is 4/19. So far, I'm doing well. Actually, it's been 3 weeks since my first fill and the past week, I've noticed a lot more restriction then initially. I don't think the band was working for me as much as my head was working for me the first 3 weeks which I'm not complaining. However, since Friday, I've had some episode's of being stuck on food I hadn't been stuck with even days before.

Saturday afternoon, I had a major craving for Dunkin Donuts coffee roll. It was my TOM although I had a hysterectomy 20yrs ago, I still get the "phantom" urges of sweets during this time most months. I decided not to fight it and treat myself to it. I took one small bite, chewed real good and felt just a little feeling of something, then another and then a 3rd bite and I was so uncomfortable for a good 40 minutes. "Someone" was trying to tell me something, and I didn't listen. I came home and threw that donut in the garbage as fast as I could! I did eat some turkey chili for dinner that night and had no problem. Yesterday morning, I ate egg white scrambled eggs and took one bite and had that same feeling of restriction and stopped eating them. Waited a bit, and tried it again and did fine. Perhaps I was swollen from the day before, I don't know. So far, today, I did fine but learning something new everyday. Still loving my band and how it's helping me to stay true to myself.

Erica & NJ2NC: Kudo's on getting into smaller sizes. I think most of us have lost enough weight where people are actually noticing it and saying something which helps our psyche and self esteem. It also helps to start wearing smaller size clothes and a little more form fitting which makes it more noticeable. Keep up the good work and love all your support.

3rd fill today. Now at 7.7 cc in a 14 band. This one should do the trick!

So question for all you girls that I "know"- this has been discussed on other threads, but want your opinions:

How soon after a fill do you feel restriction?

For me, I don't know cause I'm not at restriction! This fill today, I'm not feeling really any different- but I am on liquids today and mushies tomorrow, so maybe I wouldn't feel it til I started eating solid food.

Kymie- 7.7 cc's, I am at 7 in a 14 cc band. Tell me how it goes! I have my 3rd fill in 3 weeks, she does 1 cc at a time.

Meredith- I would hate having to wait so long! But better safe than sorry. I think that this is really a learning process, which is why I asked about how long before people think they feel restriction after a fill. I agree with the head working for me- and it being a good thing. I have had a couple times I just want to sit down with a spoon and a half gallon of maerc eci (on another weight loss board I used to frequent we spelled our trigger foods backwards, LOL).

NJ2NC, good for you reaching your goals! I have a hard time NOT drinking, especially while eating. I can't wait til the time when I cut up my lane bryant card!!

The funniest thing about my losing weight so far are my pants are waaaaay too long! LOL! I'm going to have to have my mom hem all of them, then I can wear them for a few more pounds.

Thanks Meredith and JustDoIt130,

I have a standard size band, I asked what size it was and he said there's large and standard and I have standard, so I suppose I have a 14cc band too. I only have 4.5 cc's in there and I feel no restriction at all, on Friday I ate some meat that wasn't chewed well and could feel it go down rough, thats the only time I ever felt anything or if I drink a big gulp of Water or Protein Shake it feel like a air bubble going down. Since I only get .5 cc's a visit it may take me a good while to feel real restriction. I go for fill #3 on 4/27.

Happy Fill Day Kymie9899

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
