everyone is doing so great

i had my 2nd fill on tuesday they wouldn't put in a full cc becasue it is holdiay and they would be afraid i would get sick

that stinks but she said i can come back in 2 weeks if i don't feel restricted becasue i haven't as yet

happy and heathly holidays to all and may next year be a skinny one for all of us.!

Hello fellow bandster's!!

I had my 2nd follow up with my Dr. today. Down 11 lbs in 1 month!!! Yayyy! he says I'm right on track, even though I feel like I should be losing more! My last fill was Nov 22nd, he filled me to 4 cc's. i convinced him to tweak it a little bit, which he did. I know have 5 cc's in my band. I just wasn't feeling like I had that much restriction, if I let myself I could really chow down!! Hopefully now i'll have more restriction. Also, I really noticed a hugh difference in my clothes fitiing, I've gone down 2 sizes!! I wish I could say it is all with the help of the band, but its definatly more in our minds, eating the right things and exercising are and will always be the key to our success!! I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy, HEALTHY, New Year!!!

Hi Fellow October Bandsters

I hope everyone is doing well. I have been a little missing in action for a few weeks. I have been occasionally reading posts, but not posting. I have been in a little bit of a standstill for the last few weeks weight wise. I had my first fill on 12/14 ( 3ccs in my 11 CC band) Then out of the blue, I lost 4 lbs when I got on the scale on 12 /22. So that was a nice motivator, it brought my overall total to 41 pounds including the liquid phase. YEEEEAAAAHHHH. I know that during that stall period, I had stopped letting me and my weight loss being one of my primary focuses. I was starting to fall into some old bad habits. I was taking care of everyone else first and me last. And when i do that, I don't concentrate on what I am suppose to eat and eat only when I am suppose to eat. I am going to refocus and do what i need to do to take care of me. I am glad that I can always get back on the bandwagon. Now if i can just get the exercise in constinently, I will be doing a lot better.

Merry Christmas and have a Blessed New YEar.

take Care,

I hear ya ! It's so easy to slip back into the bad habits that were use to.

At least your back on the wagon, the band really makes that possible. Don't you think ?

I work out at a Physical Rehab Center. They rent out there Gym, so I jumped at it.

I pay $25.00 a month. I'm sure location will change that price though.

Point is, you can call around, and find something, (if you want) and not get contracted in.

It's a thought for the NEW YEAR !

MERRY CHRISTMAS !woot.gif

Hi fellow October bandsters,

Things are moving along nicely for me. I was banded on 10/25 so tomorrow will be 2 months. I've had 1 small fill that seemed to help a little and Ive lost 38 pounds since the week before surgery when I started liquids. Nearly 40 pounds in 2 months sounds excellent to me!!! So glad I have this site and can stay motivated.

I am just checking in. I hope everyone had a great holiday. I had my first fill on Tuesday and then Christmas afternoon had a bout of the stomach flu. The surgeon's office called in some anti nausea meds and I have been on liquids and really soft foods since. But at least it kept me out of the Christmas goodies. It's almost the New Year. Time to start making some resolutions!

Everyone has lost so much more than I have! I am very excited for you all!! I did best after my second fill, but now I have gained a couple back. I have an appointment for my third fill on the 11th. I hope that finally gets me where I need to be. I thought I was there after my second fill, because I was never very hungry. But after about 4 weeks, it got a little slacker and I am eating more (AGAIN) I can gain weight so easy! Come on Jan 11th I am ready for ya!!

The Band works on a Fill after Fill process. So you have to keep going in, and getting fills until you feel restriction.

Unless you have a Dr. that will Fill you under Fluoroscope. Then they can see how much to put in, and not over Fill you.

So be patient, or ask about Fluoroscope.

Good Luck !tea.gif

I try to fight off the Head Hunger, same as I tell everyone, but it's hard.

I still count my calories daily, and that helps allot, but I'm ready for a new fill,

and Tame this Hunger Beast.

Hi October buddies! I gained 1 lb in December and I'm ok with that. Considering all the goodies that have been around. We also were gone for a week over Christmas break and that was hard to keep track of my calories. Excuses I know but I'm back on track and will go to the grocery store today to get supplies.

Y'all are doing so good losing! I hope to join you soon.

Happy New Year!

Cyndy

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
