 I am irritated. I gain over 3 lbs and then lose 2. well its PMS week and I have gained 2 back again. I am working out and stay8ing active daily. I was so hungry this wknd and ate. I didnt go too far off kilter and it wasnt junk food either. Now the 2lbs have made their way back according to scale at work. I tried to get 1st fill appt and they tell me docwill be out for for a week and wont be back till my appt. Its always something. I am trying to be patient as I know this isnt instant but come on would ya. Im gone look into options of seeing if other bariatric practice will do fills as well. I am going to wait for sure but weighing my options.

Neenee, sorry if I worried you, that was not my intention. Your surgery may have been done a bit different than mine or my doctor may be really conservative. I suspect the hernia repair and the way my port is "attached" has something to do with the long activity restriction for me. I've been doing power and incline walking to make up for not being able to do the other activities.

I'm not crazy to attempt P90X at this point! I did try a couple P90X routines before surgery and I hurt so bad even though I could hardly do any of it. I just got Power 90, which is the previous version and used to work up to P90X.

Keep up your good work and let us know how it goes on Thursday.

I hope I didnt mess up anything running. I hear P90X is a beast. Im no gonna mess with that yet. I am still jogging with C25K and be picking up pace even more. I am nervous about port since I dont feel it as much as I did on touching my stomach 2 wks ago. Cant wait till next Thurs for my fill.

they have p90 no x that is a little milder but still challenging im doing that my goal is to do it 3 days a week and walk/elliptical 2 days a week i just started last saturday.... im hoping the excercise will kick up the weight loss i go for first fill thursday

Can someone please tell me what is

C25k, P90X. Before my surgery I was not into exercising.

I know under in time I will have to do more then the thread mill and the bike.

Yesterday I did 30mins on the thread mill and 10mins on the bike. By the

beginning of December I would Like to be doing 45mins on the thread mill and 15mins on the bike.

C25k is Couch to 5k. It's a 9-week program to build-up to being able to jog/run a 5k. It works by doing walking and jogging intervals with the jogging time gradually increasing.

P90X is a set of DVDs for a 90-day intense workout. It is too difficult for me at this point so I ordered Power 90, which is the ealier version. P90X = Power 90 Extreme. They are a mix of cardio, plyometric and resitance routines by Beachbody. My Power 90 DVDs should show up today or tomorrow.

you runners are an inspiration, I can't imagine it, my husband jogs and I hope to someday too.

Anyway so I waled my regular 1 mile each of monday and tuesday, yesterday I had to do some field work and walked 1.6 miles, so I feel I will definitely get my 7 miles this week.

Great job everyone else on excercising.

Zen I haven't heard in from you lately, are you going to do that charity walk - how have you been doing?

I was banded 9/15. Love this thread! I am holding myself accountable to working out as much as I can. Before I got surgery I did a boot camp program to try to get into as much shape as possible before I had the surgery. I LOVED it (not during, but after each class I was exhilarated).

Anyway - I started again Monday going to the gym 4-5 times a week.

This week I did 30-40 minutes on the cross training level on the elliptical and then did the adductor and abductor machines for my legs for about 10 mins each day. Let me tell you my legs are sore! But I love it.

I have plateaued the last couple weeks. I saw the dr for my two week check up on the 30th and since then I have only lost about 5 lbs. I have a fill Tuesday and am so excited to get it going again.

It is exciting reading everyone's posts. I was not much of an exerciser but am plugging away on the treadmill. My port sticks out a bit and is still tender, so I don't think I could do much ab work right now. I found a 20 min resistance band workout on Sparkpeople, maybe I could do some of that and leave out the ab work. You guys have some great ideas though, and working up to a 5K would definitely be a goal, even if I walked the entire route. I am still really tired, but not working out does not make me less tired, so I might as well work out, right??

You guys are doing so great! Good for you :blushing:

I am not. I walked on my treadmill today for the first time since my last post. This is my biggest post-banding challenge for sure.

You go girl. It's a start. I have mine in the living room right in front of the TV, so I can't miss it. I know you will walk today too!!

Hi all, went out of town last weekend - ate too much, but the food choices were good anyway.

I didn't get the 7 miles in last week but close- 6. part of my goal is to actually walk like a mile each day - where hikes are extra- but I'm going to use my hike to say how many miles I walked. so I didn't walk every day but I did walk- LOL.

you all are doing great- recognizing that you are trying, pat yourself on the back, and encourage yourself,- it's practice not perfection-

Last week went great - 2 miles on the weight loss program on the elliptical, 4 days a week.

Tonight is the 2nd night this week, will do two more this week.

My Fridays have been packed as of late. I need to find a way to get more exercise in though.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
