Hi everyone. :) I don't know how many of y'all remember me....~ I was banded on August 13, 2010.......... and on October 5, 2010 I found out I was 12 weeks pregnant. Yep~ I was just about 3-4 weeks pregnant when I had the surgery. I also had two fills in that time span under fluoro..... I was SO scared of potential effects all this would have on our child...... All totally unexpected - we were on the pill - very long story that I shared back here last Fall. Anyway.......... I wanted to share that amazingly our perfectly healthy baby boy, Carson, was born on March 29, 2011. He weighed 7 lb 14 oz, 19" long. I gained ZERO. :) I never got "unfilled".... and had no complications, and by the grace of God the docs say he is perfect. :)

Just wanted to share.....

let the weightloss begin! haha~

Michele,

Yes, I remember your story. Congrats on your healthy baby boy! What a blessing. How encouraging for others to hear about no weight gain etc.

Ladies and gents,

My weight loss seems to have slowed down, rather frustrating, but I am losing 3-4 pounds a month, I feel incredible and am going scuba diving.. I have not dove for 7 years due to the excess weight. I have lost 62 pounds and am at my weight for last time I went.

I would like to lose another 20- 25 pounds am trying to be patient and know that is doable by August.

Bonnie

Hey everyone!! I haven't checked in on this thread for awhile even though I am an August Bandster as well! I was banded on 8-10-10 and am currently down 63 pounds and am absolutely thrilled about that! I feel better, I look better, I'm able to move better. It's great. I am desperately needing to refocus myself and my health, though. I've been going up and down with the same five pounds for six weeks now, mainly because I'm loosening up on my eating habits. So I have planned out my menu for this week and plan on sticking to it. Another downfall for me is drinking alcohol. I don't do it as much as I used to, but still probably more than I should. Again, that's a focus fo the week -- no drinking. Lastly, I know that I need to step up on my exercise. I had been doing so well and have falled out of that habit as well. So I am vowing to exercise three times this week. All these are things that we know we should do -- now it's just time for me to do them!! It's great to hear success stories from all of you -- let's hope we all keep moving the same direction and keep losing whatever we need!! :o)

Michelle - I was thinking about you the other day wondering if you had the baby or not. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is fantastic news.

I get to have a two fer surgery. They are going to do a hysterectomy, and I can honestly say I'm so relieved. I've had nothing but issues over the last year. My OB/GYN is going to see if my general surgeon can perform the gallbladder surgery where she does her surgeries. If not, then I'm going to have to go under 2 times. If he can, then they will do both surgeries at once. I should know this afternoon. On a happy note though, her scales say that I have finally broken through the 254-256 plateau that I've been stuck at for nearly a month. I was down to 252.8. I wanted to cry I was so excited.

ETA - I was told that I don't have to have my band unfilled. That made my day.

Okay guys I have arthritis in my knees. I was taking Tylenol Arthritis Pain for it and it worked wonders. Now my band is too tight to swallow them though:( Suggestions on what else I can try?

Are you able to cut them in half?

Surgery for the gallbladder was yesterday. It was harder than the tubal, but it doesn't hurt as much as the lap-band did. It took nearly 3.5 hours for him to do a surgery than normally takes between 1 and 2. My gallbladder had attached itself to something else in my body, and he had a hard time getting it out.

Hello Everyone. Thought I'd pop in and see how everyone was doing. I had my doctors visit yesterday and he told me the best thing ever. He said I only have about 10-15 more pounds to loose. :D He thinks I can accomplish this by my May appt which is towards the end of the month. I'm keeping my hopes up I can do this!!

Hi, everyone! I haven't been around for a long time either. I have the thyroid issue too and weight loss is agonizingly slow. I have had at least 7, maybe more, fills and I still don't think I am at the right adjustment. This has been a frustrating journey. I'm down 42 lbs which is great but a lot less than I thought I would be at this point.

It was good to catch up with everyone. :)

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
