Any of you expereincing a tighter band with this heat wave and humidity that is going across America right now? I know for me, this week my band has been much tighter ever since this heat wave & humidity started here in Cali, my hunger is completely gone, I have to remind myself to eat just so I get in my protien and decent calories Craziest thing..but I'm lovin' it!

Hi Guys- Just wanted to find out how all the June babies are doing! I was banded on 6/15 and I have had 2 fills(one real fill and 7 days later a little more) I'm down 32 lbs. but have been for several weeks- i'm at a plateau and I don't like it! I know I sometimes make bad food choices- the bad thing is I can eat just about anything.......I'm trying to go for Protein, fruit and veggies- but sometimes chips and chocolate find their way into my mouth! I'm tightening the belt now! Going to join the local fitnes center- weights, bikes, treadmills, classes and I'm committing to 4 days a week. Must drink more Water too! And how about those Vitamins I bought and haven…

I've recently moved to the pensacola area and I am having a hard time finding a fill doctor.(unfill) I even went to the er today and they said sorry we don't do them. Charged me 160.00 to tell me that...My band is tight right now. I am not able to do any solids and liquids are even hard. Water feels like a golf ball and you can hear it gurgle. I've been banded since 3/18/04, lost 80lb. I love my band but I'm a liitle worried. I've called 6 doctors and no one will see me because they didn't do the surgery. Imagine if patients with heart -by-passes were treated that way. If anyone could recommend someone I would be grateful. Any wherer in Florida, Alabama or even Georgia.? …

Does anyone know anything about the process that someone who is insured through Tricare Prime has to go through to have our insurance company cover the cost of the Lapband procedure?

So I go for my unfill appointment today, and the doc agrees that this is the right approach. Naturally, I have no idea how much is in my band, since they don't tell us. (They're in the "too little, too much, just right" school.) So I'm thinking he can take out .25 or .5 cc and that would do the trick. As it turns out, my TOTAL fill was only a little under 1 cc!! I was amazed; I figured it was somewhere in the 3 range. As I described my symptoms, of course the doctor felt it necessary to observe that these are symptoms of slippage. ;-)Hi bandsters how are all of you doing. My name is Miranda and I was banded by Dr Holsaeter on July 28 2005. I went into my first fill on Monday. I have a VG band and I received 4.5 cc of a fill. I still have no restriction. Maybe a hint more but not enough to make a difference on what i eat and how much i eat. Is this common for first fills? I called the Doc and I come in next friday to get more. Can anyone tell me what it feels like during the actual fill to be filled at a great point(i.e. a feeling in your chest, or maybe even throat?). I know its diff for everyone. I did it ! I hit my first goal. I weighed myself this morning and I officially lost 50 pounds ! (51 to be exact) Not much longer before I get to my next goal: to weigh under 200. Right now I am at 203, so hopefully in two weeks time you will hear me screaming with delight again. Unfortunately, the following goal is to weigh less than my husband (that has been my dream for the past 12 years). He weighs 185, so I've got a bit to go. So I was at work today and waiting for a patient who was running late and reading a book and chewing some gum. I'm in my 2nd week of liquids post banding and feel like I have really icky breathe and a bad taste in my mouth all the time, so I drink tons of water but the gum was really helping. Sugar free of course. Anyway my patient finally popped in with his family and startled me into moving around really fast and getting things together for his test. About five minutes into the test I suddenly realized I had SWALLOWED my gum! I didn't even think twice about it when it happened but then I started panicking because I remembered my band and I got worried. Really worried. H…

I had my surgery 6 months ago and have lost 40 pounds with 7 of that being pre surgery. My question is, do most of you follow a diet plan or do you eat whatever you want but just less of it? Also do most of you exercise? I would set up a poll but I don't know how to. I guess I thought with the band I would just be able to eat whatever I wanted but I would be eating a lot less of it and therefore I would lose weight. I seem fairly restricted during the day although I am able to eat more then I think I should. And at night I can eat what seems like a lot to me and I don't think I get that "full feeling". why is it that i have the hardest time eating food thats really good for me. like chicken, or cauliflower...and salad....but if i went to eat like....chips and dip...or chocolate..or icecream, it goes down just fine.....kinda fustrating huh? i don't get it!!!

The clinic I was supposed to be having my surgery at is no longer taking patients. The public clinic has a 2 year wait list. I want to crawl into a hole and cry. I'm not going to be able to do this. I can't wait 2 years. My spirit will die long before then. Just when I had hoped for a better life I had my hopes taken away. Will it be marginally effective at all to just follow the diet as if I was banded? Will it still work eventhough I won't be having the surgery?

I'm going for my consult with Dr. Spivak next month and I was just curious to see if anyone has UHC and if they covered the procedure. The lady at Dr. Spivak's office did tell me that UHC is one of the insurance companies that will pay for the procedure, if conditions are met. I'm trying to think positive, because if they don't pay for the procedure, I will more than likely not have it done, and least not now, I'll have to wait til my teenagers are more "dependent, financially".

OK boys and girls...We have all discovered things we have long past forgotten how to do, mostly because our fat was in the way and we couldn't do it, but...drum roll please.... I crossed my legs at the knee and my top leg actually went over my knee insteead of stopping at my ankle and making me sit like a man!! I was so excited I had to go 'show and tell' it to all my co-workers!! Of course they all laughed at me. Next victory......High heeled shoes!! ( maybe after another 30 pounds)

I need to know if any of you had your first fill less than 6 weeks after surgery. I scheduled my 1st fill 5 weeks and 3 days post-op thinking it was 6 weeks 3 days. I even got plane reservations and don't know if I can change them now. My Dr. said 1st fill 6-8 weeks post-op. Any input would be appreciated.

I am just so excited and smiling from ear to ear....I had to go to a funeral today where I saw someone who saw me last time in July (pre-band). She said I looked great and had I lost weight? OMG, I can't believe someone noticed already!!! Yes, my family has noticed which is wonderful, but when someone who doesn't see you much and all says something....WOW.... What a great feeling!!! And another wonderful feeling is getting dressed for the funeral (you know, can't just throw on anything)....I put on a skirt and top that was too small last month and it fit great today!!! I am jazzed....

My first REAL goal of double digits was realised when I got up this morning. I am soooooooooo excited. Mind you I was naked and weighing in at 99.4kgs. I screamed for hubby to come in and he came running and opened the bedroom door and there I was on the scales, naked and screaming. After telling hubby this is the second place I wanted to tell. I weigh 195. I would like to lose 70 pounds. I've been fighting these 70 pounds for 10 years and they are beating me bad. It seems like most of you had more weight to lose then I do. . . still I feel desperate and am really considering getting the band. Is it worth it for 70 stubborn pounds?

I am getting banded on Sept 14. I was scheduling the time off with my manager but then thought about my company's rules regarding sick days. They say that after 5 consecutive days of being absent, you have to go into short-term disability. I know I was thinking about the worst-case scenario. My question is, how long (on average) were you off from work? (I have a desk job in the stressful financial services industry.) Thanks!

Hi Everyone, Before plastic surgery, I had 2.5 in my lapband. Today I went to get a fill. I am one month post op from my PS and ready to lose my last 20-25 pounds. During my PS, I asked my plastic surgeon to remove .50 from my band so in the event I had to vomit from anesthesia or take big meds I would be able to and not do damage to my band. I have been pretty hungry, but basically I havent done that bad with the lack of restriction. I was surprised to learn today that instead of the 2.00 I thought I had in my band, "I HAVE NOTHING!!!! Some things to remember about being a member of LBT. When we all joined,there are rules and guidelines we all agreed to follow. One of them is to show respect for other members. I had a dream last night that I was at the surgeons office having my consultation. He put me on the scale and said NOPE, you don't qualify, you are 11 lbs under the accepted weight. Boy did I cry (in my dream) I remember saying to the doctor, can't you just write that I'm ###lbs or if you want I'll come back next week. I can gain 11 lbs in one week, I really can. Please don't shut me out, please please please I need your help and I have no where else to go. I've done all this work for nothing Can you imagine gaining 11 lbs in 1 week LOLOL !!! but in my dream I was convinced that I could do it. Now tell me I aint' sick dreaming about this sort of stuff LOL.

I have my date. It is OCT 12. I am so amazed at how soon that is. She originally gave me Sept 29. I said that is just too soon. Now all I have to do is wait for ins. I am a bit scared. The pessimist (sp) in me says this is way too easy insurance is going to say no. Well anyway, I am really excited about starting my new band life!!!!!

I am so hungry! I had almost no appetite surgery day and the next but this third day is something! I drink my protein and water and I am full for about 2 hours but then I am so hungry! ANybody had to deal with this! HELP! lol I AM GETTING REALLY FRUSTRATED! I know that my calorie intake is way down but how many calories can you get in by just drinking. I am really hungry though. What can I do about this I can't see this for 2 weeks I don't think I will make it! Help!!!

Wow i never thought I would write those words... I was Banded on Monday the 29th. I am still in a bit of pain.. I really don't know why I thought it was going to be less painful.. Maybe I am just a wuss... I am so glad that it is all over now. And I am recovering nicely. I have no real appetite at this time but I am sure that will change... i had an itch and all of a sudden i felt something under my skin...i am assuming it is my port...it is right above my largest scar... anybody have any feedback

Does anyone find that if they skip breakfast because they are too tight in the mornings etc do you find you arent really hungry till after lunch whereas if you have something for breakfast you are starving a couple of hours later? Does this happen to anyone else?

I am two weeks out from surgery. I see the doc for follow up tomorrow. I have lost 12 lbs. But seriously LIQUIDS only ...... My family and life are too complicated. I cant watch someone without a nibble or two. They all go to dinner what do I do? some times soup but then what soup only goes so far. I was careful the first week but then added one scrambled egg w/ cheese. then mashed potatoes. then tow prawns w/ tartar. then egg foo yung. rice with gravy. cracker with cheese spread. only an ounce or two at a time /a fork full then wait 5 min. I can believe this.I have done everything that they have asked.I have had eight months of doctor supervised diet and exersice class in whice I have to drive sixty miles to do. Mental evaluations.I am diabetic INSULIN DEPENDENT and other co morbities. They spent almost $5000.00 for my meds last year alone. Thier excuse NOT fda approved. It is and has been since 2001. No scientific evidence. Does not improve health outcomes. Intervention is not proven to be applicable outside a reasearch setting. WHAT A CROCK OF ----. I was wondering since I am stuck at a certain weight can I try fasting for a week to give my body a jump start. All I would drink is protein drinks, juice watered down and lots of water. Has any one ever tried that?
