:hungry: I just had a ginger and soy tuna steak from Bumble Bee and it was awesome!! It comes in a little foil pouch already seasoned and cooked. I heated it up in a saute pan with it's own juice and it was really, really good!:clap2: It's kinda high in sodium (soy sauce will do that) but once in awhile for me is ok. You can find it in the regular tuna isle. for a 4 oz pouch here's the Nut. facts: 170 calories 2.5 total fat 40 cholesterol 1000 Sodium 3 carbs 34g Protein it was worth my $2.00 (sale price) just thought I'd share.

:help: Hi everyone, I had an x ray today as the surgeon had thought that I had a tubing problem but worse he said that I have a problem in the ballooning,. and that it is no longer connected. Sorry I don't know if there is a technical term for this? but that my band would need to be replaced. I am not thrilled at the thought of having to be re banded, my weight pre banding was 250 lbs and I am now 206, I was banded in September 04 and to be honest I can say I don't really know what it is like to be banded as I have had to really diet and watch everything I eat just to maintain this weight. I would appreciate all your feedback as I am really anxious about this and I k…

i started thinking about how much i have spent POST banding....pretty scary.... $200 4 fills, covered by insurance, $50 each $2,400 16 fills*, not covered by insurance $150 each $750 fill under flouro $1250 fill under flouro $1400 fill under flouro (this was actually an ER unfill) ------------------------------- 6,000!!!!!!!! holy crap. my share for surgery was 1,000. just curious what others have paid for 'aftercare' *i had to get a LOT of fills in the beginning because my fill was getting trapped in a pocket in the port. when i got a fill it never reached my band so i had to get several till i was over 4.0 cc and my dr would listen to me.

Does anyone here have RLS? How did you know you had it? What do you do to relieve it? Do you take medicine? Over the past 3-4 weeks my legs have felt like I need to keep moving them and when I lie in bed they feel weird - not painful, just like they are annoying me. I don't know why this is. Someone said maybe RLS. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi there I had my first band a year ago last November. A slip was diagnosed almost a year to the day later and the local doc took me in straight away and replaced my band. The old band was a VG and placed around my stomach. Apparently the new one (the 10cm/4cc size) has been placed around my oesophogus. In fact, I have even been able feel the difference when I'm eating. Yesterday, after a couple of hours in front of my pc, I stood up and stretched. At the peak of the stretch something popped in my chest and I've had a feeling of discomfort there ever since. It's worse if I put my chin on my chest when the sensation becomes stronger and spreads around towards my back. …

Hi, I just went to my nutrition class tonight and the nutritionist said we could never drink caffeine again?!?!?!?! Also, no alcohol?!?!?!! She said the caffeine restriction is because of the risk of gastritis. I said "well I haven't has gastritis from caffeine for 35 years... why would I get it after I have the band? She said she didn't know! HAHAHAH! Also, for the alcohol I was like "Are they crazy?" and she said she also didn't know why they restrict alcohol. All I know is, there is NO way I'm giving up either! That being said, has anyone had trouble with gastritis due to caffeine after being banded???

I know we have some nurses and medical people on here, so I have a question. My white blood count has been elevated for about 2 months now. The say the end of my high range is 11.0 and mine is 12.9. The doctors keep retaking my blood work but it's not going down, and they don't seem to concerned about it. I am concerned though because I remember last year when I had my hysterectomy my WBC was high because of a sinus infection (11.9) and they wouldn't do surgery till I got it down. Now with wanting the band, I don't want infection in my body. I haven't felt sick at all? :phanvan Any advice.... Thanks,

I have been reading and reading and this forum is stocked with great information. The one thing, though, that perplexes me is that, what is so different with the band? I have read about many banded ones still being hungry so I get confused as to what exactly is helpful about the band. If we eat like the doctor advises pre-band would there be any need for the band? Does the band sincerely help you eat better? Eat a lot less? Think about food less? Curious mind needs to know! While I understand it is not a miracle cure, is the "full" feeling that complete that I will never think of another diet? Thanks! Kelli

I am mostly okay, but a little sad, to find myself a slow loser. I am almost 3 months out (the 27th) and have lost 16 lbs. Seven of that in the first month (week actually) on liquids. I need another fill (currently at 1.3ccs), but still.......I am insulin resistant and do take Actos, but I avoid bread (although it goes down easy) and never eat sweets. It is discouraging to see others losing 30-40 lbs in 3 months. I am realistic in the fact that I lose slowly compared to others, I always have. But I feel like I am spinning the wheels and getting nowhere. It is a little disheartning and discouraging. I had a banana for breakfast with a protein drink, a beef and broccoli Lea…

Before the band I was on birth control pill (4 months ago) and lets just say my "Mr. Perfect" and I had a long awaited tryst the other night, not even thinking the deed was done, and because of the surgery I went off the pills and had a complete loss of memory when the ever so rare "Mood" struck. The next day my chest and esophagus were a little sore, but I had no problems. Hey guys, I need a little help with some recipe ideas for 1 or 2 people. If I make a big dish, I'll eat some left overs, but a good portion of it goes to waste. There are 2 reasons for this, 1 is that my fiancee doesn't often eat what I make, opting for fast food or something else (which is fine, he's a skinny butt), and 2 if he eats what I make, he doesn't often eat leftovers. I need ideas for recipes that can at the very least be cut in half, or made for 1 or two people. Even if it's for 2 people, if I make it I'll eat the leftovers. Hi! I was thinking back tonight about my first visit with my surgeon. I'm not banded yet and am awaiting a surgery date. During the visit he told me he's done 40 bands (by the time I get mine that number will have most likely doubled because he's doing about 4 or 5 per week). He said that of those 40 people, three people have had their bands removed. Two because of acid reflux and one because of a hole that occurred either during or after surgery. This hole was located just above the stomach somewhere. The surgeon gave some explanation about "shearing" away part of some membrane to get behind the stomach or something, and maybe because this person had already suffered f…

When I got home I drank water and about 3 hrs later I was hungry so I ate Cream of Wheat. That was fine, It helped the medicine I use stay down better. I am on the learning curve!:nervous

Hello all! I have some questions regarding the fills. After you get a fill, do you have more problems getting down things than before- or do you just get full quicker. I am having some problems with meat which I really don't want since it is hard to do low carb without it, but on the other hand, I feel like I can consume more than I should be able to. Like, I can eat 2 eggs and 1 piece of toast in the morning, and I am not overly full. Plus, I only stay full for 3-4 hours. I told my surgeon this at my first post-op visit, and she acted like I was just being a hog and I should only need 3 oz of food at one sitting ( I might add that she is a twig). I got this band …

Hi everyone, I came home from NYU yesterday after being banded monday. All went well. I of course have some of the usual symptons of nausea, slight fever, and light swelling and sores but not bad at all. Overall I'm doing well. Dr. George Fielding was great, the cuts are very small and not even black and blue. He also fixed my reflux which I already appreciate because normally I would have indigestion from the liquids only diet. The worst part is the nausea which hopefully will go away in a day or so.I keep thinking about this great journey I've just started. WOW!!
