well my 5 month surgiversary was on the 15th! I'm a few days late, but better late than never in my book. I'm so happy that i decided to do the revision and get rid of my CRAP BAND!!! that thing was the worst, especially after it slipped. So, since 10/15 i am down 50 pounds! my blood work is great except for Vitamin D which i am working on now! I am now down 77% of my excess body weight since surgery, the lowest that i have been since college! I have so much energy, that my kids are finding it hard to keep up with me! I can eat pretty much anything that i want, which is a double edged sword! I sometimes 'want' what i shouldn't eat, but a few bites and i'm good…

I went for my two week post op appointment today with my doctor and I am down 25lbs, 10 pre op and 15 since surgery two weeks ago. Before surgery I feared that I would be the one person that would get this surgery and nothing would happen but so far so good and I'm going to mention it anymore to avoid the three week stall, lol. Thanks again everyone for your continued support and words of encouragement.

I can't believe that it has been 6 months since my surgery, I have lost 95 pounds since the day of surgery (who would have thought that was possible). Sometimes I look at myself or do something that I couldn't do 6 months ago and I'm so amazed. I've never been this happy in my life. I feel like I'm living life for the first time instead of just existing. I've gone from a size 26/28 all over to a 18 top and 20 bottom, I sometimes look at my clothes and can't believe that I can fit into them. I love to walk and exercise now and that is something i never really liked before, lol. To say that this has been an easy 6 months would be a total and complete untruth..........this h…

and it doesn't seem real to me at all but the scale doesn't lie, here I am in onederland. I haven't been here for over 11 years!! I still see myself as the same weight that I was when I started my journey. I pick out clothes in the store and when I try them on they are always to big for me, this never happened before. I love my sleeve, this is the best thing that I have ever done for myself!!!!!

I took my Grandbabies to an indoor Water park and not only did I look good in my daughter's swim suit,, I PARTICIPATED! I climbed the tower with nets and went in one of those tubular slides with them, you know the enclosed long winding ones? Yes me, at 47 for the first time ever in my life I did not say I could not, I said I WILL and I DID! I was not self conscious the whole time or afraid of getting stuck. We spent the whole day in the water park and I have the butt burns to prove it:) oh and pics too! We followed the long day by a wonderful dinner of crab legs at Joe's Crab shack,. Swimming makes you hungry or in my case shaky weak from low blood sugar

I have finally gotten out of the 200's! Today I weighed in at 199.5! I had tears in my eyes as I ran naked out of the bathroom and was jumping up and down kissing my boyfriend with excitement. Poor guy didn't know what hit him. When I started this journey I weighed 291 in Spetember 2009. I lost 36 pounds during my pre-op, so for surgery on December 13, 2009 I weighed in at 255. So far I have lost a total of 91 pounds. I still have about 55 more that I would like to lose. But it is amazing on how great I feel now. My back doesn't hurt, my knees don't ache. I can actually run on the treadmill and not feel like I am going to die. Overall I feel amazing. I feel pr…

Hi guys -- last Saturday, I made it to Onderland -- but then went up a pound and then am now back down -- so I'm calling it Onderland! It's kinda funny, I'm thrilled that I'm no longer 200 something, but my eyes are so focused on the remaining 34 or so pounds that I feel almost like I'm checking something off of a list. But in order to make myself enjoy this moment, here's a list of what I can do now and what has changed: 1. I can play 4 hours of golf in 95 degree weather, sweat, etc. and not die. 2. I tie my shoes by putting them up on my knee without thinking about it. (I just reminded my daughter about how she had to put on my shoes for me because I coul…

Hey all! I don't come on the forums hardly EVER anymore. But I do blog. I wanted to post my most recent blog entries in here to update on life at almost 10 months. My current loss is 102 lbs and I weigh 208 lbs. I'm eating too many carbs so that is gonna stop. I have taken up snowshoeing which is a great activity Those are the basics, but thought you guys might be interested in these blog posts. Feel free to comment either here or on the blog, but I will be more likely to see your comments on the blog My most recent entry: Current Struggles at 10 Months Post Op Other recent surgery-related entries from my blog: Weigh-In and Exercise talk (Feb 25th) Things …

One member asked the question: Is sleeve surgery “taking the easy way out”? This question really got my juices flowing and thinking. For all of us who endured the agony and anguish of bariatric surgery, we recognize there is nothing easy about this most important matter. Let see, how easy this is? 25 intelligent reasons for making our choice. 1. Exercising and working out with little or no results (life long) 2. Yo-yo dieting with little or no results (life long) 3. Heart disease 4. Respiratory problems 5. Stroke 6. High blood pressure 7. Elevated cholesterol 8. Diabetes 9. sleep disorders 10. Gout 11. Discrimination …

Hi everyone, I was sleeved on Oct. 29,2010 and I am doing wonderful now. I am loosing weight wonderfully, I am exercising and I am diabetes free!!! So everything seems like it is going great...But its not!!! NONE OF MY CLOTHES FIT!!!!! I know, I know. If that is my only problem now...but it is a problem. Before sleeve, I was wearing a 30/32 womens. Now most of us know that it gets really hard to find anything to wear when you get above a 24W. I was living at Lane Bryant and Avenue. But now, I recently brought some pants sized 22/24 and I have room. My mother has a jacket which is a 3X and it is too big for me. I AM SO LOVING MY NEW BODY!!! Thank you sleeve!

I am finally in Onderland! I never thought it would get here. It sure has been a long time coming. I entered bandster-hood in July 2010. It has truly been a life changing journey. I am still struggling at times with making the right food choices, but consider myself a work in progress. I am truly blessed

Haven't posted in a while, but wanted to share. Tomorrow is my 12th wedding anniversay and I was able to fit, comfortably, into the nightgown I wore on my wedding night! DH will be so surprised....I don't know why I saved it, but found it in a drawer as I was doing yet another closet purge. I'm so glad I hung onto it While its been expensive having to buy clothes, I am so proud at being in a 14 - not a W 14, a 14 -14. When I started last Feb I was pushing into a 24W. I have now bought and worn 2 very shapely dresses that show off the waist I didn't know I had. It is beyond a kick to know that I look good...still working my band and am not sure where I will finall…

On Tuesday the 15th I will be 6 Months post op... I can't believe how time flies!!! I guess as they say, it happens like that when you're having fun. I feel incredible (aside from my stomach bugs, which I'm taking care of right now) and my panels all came back amazing. My PCP is very impressed and when I told her I'll be running a 5K her eyes went big and shocked like. LOL!!! She is really beside herself and she told me I got it right this time... (surgery ) Not only that, she told me to stop all of my high blood pressure medications. So... NO LONGER HYPERTENSIVE!!! Thank you sleeve, thank you Dr. Aceves for believing I could do it, and thank you to all of …

I was sleeved November 11, 2010. I have now lost 81 pounds and no end in sight. Started this journey at 334 the day of surgery. I actually went to a conference last week, flew for the first time comfortably, no belt extender, could use the tray table, actually enjoyed the flight! As others have said, enjoying life so much more, no pain in the legs, knees, feet. Walked miles a day at the conference and was in great spirits all day. Enjoying so much that I have missed the last years, bowling, golfing, walks, swimming. It truly is amazing. I have so much more self confidence now than I have had in 30 years. I do workshops and retreats and was always lacked confiden…

Dispite all of the problems with indigestion, and my stomach hating the hell out of me, I'm now 198 pounds! I haven't been under 200 pounds since I had my son 13 years ago!!!! OMG, I'm so excited! I went shopping again this weekend. I only lasted in a 20 for a week, I'm officially an 18; I can't quite get the 16's to fasten yet. But, the Goodwill has a 1/2 price sale on Saturdays so I'm not really that concerned. I feel good, most days. I'm experimenting with eating "real food", and I'm actually losing weight. I can't tell you how elated I am. Thank you to everyone on this site that has been so supportive! I'm sharing in this milestone with all of you!

I had lapband surgery two years ago. I have lost 114 pounds. I have between 15 to 20 pounds left. It would of been off by now, but I reached a size 8 pants and was just comfortable. My surgeron is encouraging me to see the big picture and hit the numbers on the scales. I know, you are thinking a size 8 pants... are your trying to be anoerxic??? No I'm not. I weigh as of 0700 today 168 lbs. Shocking huh? But that is the truth. My goal is to be around 150 -148. I am only 5ft 3in tall. My stomach is not the prettiest, but I doubt I will pay for a tummy tuck since only my husband sees it. I look good in my clothes. That's a lot of money to spend. My advice.... t…

Just a small scale victory, but somehow, while on vacation in Hawaii, I lost almost 7 lbs! Plus, I finally broke the 240 lb barrier, weighing in at 239.7 lbs! I felt like I ate a lot of junk food, but the truth is I wasn't eating much at all (too busy having fun to eat!) and most of it was Protein. That plus snorkeling and having fun in the sun all day means weight loss galore. So, thank you, sleeve, for making my vacation a weight loss success along with a vacation success! Now if I could just kick this stupid cold I picked up on the plane ride back (*grumble grumble kids who don't cover their mouths when they cough grumble*)

Okay . . . first time attaching pictures. I haven't been on as much as I used to but just wanted to do a quick update. I should've taken more "before" pictures . . . but wasn't really camera friendly. Go figure! lol Well I'm 4 1/2 months post op. Day of surgery I was 285 and am now 228. So down 57 lbs and if you throw in the 21 lbs I lost PRE OP that is a total of 78 lbs. I still have quite a bit to lose, and sometimes feel like why won't it come off faster but I'm happy nonetheless. Congrats to my fellow "sleevers" who post regularly and keep me motivated. Thanks and keep up the good work. You guys are all inspiration to me and everyone on here.

I am a bit over six weeks out and finding some foods I use to eat and enjoy I am have problems digesting or just don't have a taste for any more. Foods such as oat meal, okra, Water melon, bake chops, just to mention a few. I was advised after sleeve surgery patients would have to learn how eat again. They are very much correct. food now is an adventure, learning what is healthy and nutritious. Reading labels, going to restaurants and ordering from the child plate or at best splitting an order from the menu. Leaning what to eat, what not eat, how much, how to chew, how slow to eat are just a few new ways of the sleeve patient. A few months ago I knew nothing of G…

Just a quickie – since I realize it’s been a minute. My life is STILL chaotic, but my weightloss is on track, thank GOD. I can’t believe that come March 21, it will be 6 months since my life changing surgery. I am 73# down, and have lost more than half of what I need to make it to *my* goal. (My PCP wants me down to 160# which is fine – but I know once I get to 175, in MY head, I will be a TOTAL rockstar) I still have my eating issues (like being a perpetual “snacker” – even with healthy stuff), but for the most part, I’m extremely proud of myself. I’ve been spending time between home and The Big Apple, and I must say that the change of scenery has been EXCELLE…

I was so happy this morning when I stepped on the scale and after the digital screen did it's little dance for what seemed like FOREVER...there it was. The numbers 199.0. I honestly didn't think I would be as excited as I was but the emotion got the better of me and I did a little naked happy dance right there on the scale. I started this journey at 251 lbs (highest weight) at 5' 2" on November 18th. That was the day I went to my doctor's office, stepped on the scale and was utterly shocked at what I saw. I immediately sprung into action. I lost 20 lbs prior to surgery and had my sleeve surgery on December 27th. It has been an interesting journey so far and I'm look…

So, in 2 days it'll be 1 month since my surgery. Not only am I down 45 pounds, but I found out that I'm also down 2 pants sizes! Woot! I had to go shopping to go back to work because none of my pants fit. I'm officially a size 20 petite. Granted, I could get the 18s on, but they rested right on my incision and it was a little uncomfortable. The 20s gave me a little more room in the waist so I can hike them up or pull them down so they don't rest on my scar. I'll be in an 18 in no time. It's still not easy finding a 20 petite. I guess it won't get easy until I'm out of the Plus sizes to find something for short people. But, I'm so happy I'm not in a 24 anymore…

Hello everyone, I am seven weeks out, and approx. 50 lbs lighter with 25 lbs. to go reach my goal of 200 lbs. Feeling great, having a wonderful time researching new material on nutrition, Vitamins, and different types of food to help me in my weight loss journey. At the gym and meeting new people in the support group has been a significant appreciation to my self esteem. One of the best things to happen to me is my sex life is alive again, my wife says she can but her legs around me. Things are happening to this 59 year old guy that I thought was long gone forever. Waking up morning feeling great (you guys know with I mean), not having to take the “little blue p…

Apparently LapBandTalk is wondering where all of it's former members went and why us "old timers" no longer post. So far the first 4 pages, to my surprise have been "I'm doing great, lost my weight and enjoying my new body" type posts. I was the first bust thy bubble with complications. I figured those who had bands prior to VSG would at least enjoy the read if not want to share your story to prevent another poor soul from going through what we have. I did NOT go looking for this thread of LBT, they sent an email out asking where some of the "Old Timers" were and I figured perhaps some of you who used to post there may have changed your email address but would still LO…

It's been a while since I have posted. Since my Mom lost her husband in December, I have been spending much of my time there. I hope you are all doing well. Missed you guys! I thought I would post an update, as I reached goal last week. I never dreamed my life could change this much in such a short time. I still have work to do on my body, but am getting there. The support I received from the members here, was vital to me being successful. I could never thank you all enough. (((hugs))) Here are some before and after shots.

It's been six months since the surgery. I've lost 73 pounds (but have actually been 99 pounds heavier than I am now). I'm still not in onederland, but I'm approaching it. The NSVs have been wonderful. People are noticing not only the difference in my weight, but also the difference in my level of energy. I feel great! A few small NSVs - sitting in a booth this week and not worrying if I'd fit! Realizing that I no longer get in a weird position to tie my shoes! Wearing some tops that I never imagined I could fit in again. Feeling kind of normal sized, even though I know I'm not, yet. Spending a Saturday running errands instead of hiding in my house. BIG NSV - allowing…

Hello how is everyone today? Myself I’m doing a-ok!!! I am 5 months post-op. I am posting this a day early because I have limited computer access at the time; I have to do this when I can!!! I’m so excited and didn’t want to miss this opportunity to express it. 5 months ago today I was revised from the Realize 10cc Band to the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy by the good Dr. Aceves. I was 272 Lbs and miserable, unhappy and felt like a complete failure. I was hopeful though that I was going to undergo something that would reverse the state I was in at the time. No surprise here, but I was absolutely correct in my assumption of hope!!! My friends were so right in con…

Just a quick update. I haven't been losing as quickly, but I will take whatever I can get! Still haven't gotten back to exercising. That is on my "to do" list I did had a good week this week, and lost 5 pounds! So, I am now at a total of 111 pounds!! I lost 13 of that the 2 weeks before surgery, so 98 since my date of surgery. I am finally in the 250's, weighed in at 258!!! It seems like this journey is just flying by. I remember posting on here when I was all excited to break the 300's! This is so exciting and I am just trying to enjoy the ride. I am getting excited about a vacation to Hawaii in a few months! It would have been miserable going there at 369 pounds! I am …

So here's a bit of photographic proof of just how great this surgery is. I know that when I was researching this surgery, photos were the most compelling argument for me to just do it. I can't wait to see what another 3.5 months will bring.

Hey losers! (and soon to be losers too!) Lost another pound today...27 down! Went through the wardrobe today cos we're off on holiday to Sri Lanka on Tuesday and most of the clothes I thought I would take are TOO BIG! I'm SO pleased...i'm loving this journey on the "sleevetrain!"! Wonder what i can wear on holiday?? Mmmmm least i don't have to wear the tent...now we can sleep in it!!

I am having my VSG on March 15th. I have every confidence in my surgeon. My doubt is.......will this work for me? I have been on Jenny Craig three times, Weight Watchers twice, HCG drops, Adkins, and caloric restriction. I always gain my weight back. Now that I am menopausal, I can look at food and gain 2-3 lbs. This surgery is my last hope............will it work?

My Surgeon says to check with my Dr. on what to take instead of Pristique, I have tried a few others in the past and had bad side effects. Just wondering if anyone has had a problem switching to something that can be chewed or comes in a liquid form? I'm the most nervous about this at the moment,. My surgery is sceduled for April 11th so I know I will have to taper of sometime soon..not sure what to do I would appreciate any input anyone can throw my way!!

In a former chapter of my life, I purchased a nice selection of very nice lingerie. Naturally, once I did this, I immediately gained all the weight back I had lost (it seems like it only took 5 minutes). I packed my niceties away for another day. THE OTHER DAY IS HERE! So I can wear my lovelies once again!!! NO more granny pants!! Here's more NSVs: Shoes fit better, men pay attention to me, women pay attention to me. I can sit in any chair, I flew on an airplane and was actually comfortable, can sit in a restaraunt booth, me knees don't hurt, my 3x belt is too large, I have met really wonderful people through this forum. For those contemplating this surgery or feel…

I am considering getting the vertical sleeve surgery. I weight 220 and I'm 5'2". I am 46 years old. I've been fat 20 years now, and I'm so tired of it. I think I eat out of habit I guess. My doctor suggested the sleeve, but I am scared. And right now I'm finishing up a big work project so I'm waiting until at least summer for that reason. I am wondering what specific regrets any of you have. Like what was different than you thought? I think the fact that it is not reversible scares me. Also not being hungry, managing a different kind of diet, not knowing what the slimes ARE (I keep reading about them)....I'm just very afraid to make a mistake. So please give …

I put this in Post Op and I think this night be a better place! I am embroiled in pre tests right now and hoping to have my surgery in April or May (my doctor thinks it is possible). Naturally I have quickly become addicted to this forum and I love coming here to read the stories and the many different aspects of this process. Earlier this week I happened upon Julie's post which included a link to her You Tube (juliarh) of her dancing to Celebrate 100 pounds. My husband and I subscribed and we have been watching her vlogs from Week one on. I have learned so much! I feel I know her and her life in Paraguay and have been given a gift from her insight and voyage…

The husband was taking some clothes out of the dryer ( he does not do this often) and he pulled out a pair of my jeans and said "Who's are these" I gave him a funny look and said mine why? He said "No, way, they like Tammy's".. Now mind you, Tammy is his sister and she probably wears like a size 1 or 2. I laughed and said thanks, but I am no where near Tammy's size. He really was shocked, he could not see it on me, but when he held up my new size pants it suddenly hit him. I really don't think he is capable of seeing sizes, his own or mine.

15 weeks post- op and 50 lbs lighter!! I LOVE my sleeve!!!

Hi, I am a fairly new bandster and it is taking me a while to catch on to all of the lingo. But I can't figure out "Onederland" I see it alot on this site, but...??? Then there is "sweetspot" I think I got that one figured out, but how do you know when your there. My surgeon told me I would feel like I felt the first week after surgery, no appetite or desire to eat. I am not there yet. Is that how the sweet spot feels?

Just a quicky here; while I was in Hawaii, I discovered that I can now comfortably wear a 38 inch waist jeans, shorts, and slacks. The last time I could fit into pants with smaller than a 40 inch waist, I was 18 years old. I'm well on track to "bottoming out" at around a 36 inch waist by my birthday in June, and given how solidly built my legs and butt are (TMI?) that's going to be just about cloth on muscle and bone, very little fat. So that's a tremendously great feeling; to be fitting into clothes that I haven't fit into since I was a teenager! And only 9 months out! Huzzah!

So today, I did something I have been longing to do for years but what too scared. I joined a gym, and actually went, got the tour, and did 30 minutes on the treadmill at a brisk pace. I didnt think I could talk myself into the door, let alone complete a 30 minute workout. I know it doesnt sound like much, but for me it was a major accomplishment.

I didn't know what to post this under. I finally decided on success stories because I figure its a great success that we even wory about these things. So..... heres my question. How much have pants sizes really changed. I am 5'7'' and weight 143. I wear a size 6. Now.... about 10 years ago I weighed 132 for a short minute and when I was a teenager (way more than 10 years ago... I guess it was the early 80's I weighted 135) I don't rememer EVER wearing a size 6 before, not even an 8. The difference is, when my weight was low before I was not in good physical shape. Not sickly, I just didn't exercise and was sort of soft. Now I run and lift weights (not hard co…
