Well, today will be one month since I made the best change of my life. I am down 32 lbs and am feeling wonderful. I just wanted to let anyone who is thinking of having this surgery or on the fence about deciding if they want to or not, all I have to say is....Do it! I know it's cliche' to say this but the only thing I regret is that I did not do this sooner. i will say that the pre op diet and first two week post op are very hard and is the worst part of the whole thing. Liquid diets are very tiring and had those same doubts as everyone else after surgery of, what did i do to myself. But as week three and four came and I could move into putting normal foods into my…

  2. At this time last year I had my first battle with band being too tight, ended up with gastritis and had fluid removed from band. At that time I weighed 155 pounds and was ecstatic about the fact that I had lost 63 pounds and was well on my way to being healthy and happy for the first time in more than 20 years. Several months past and I even had a breast reduction to relieve constant headaches and backaches from the weight of my breasts. To make a long story short, I had a fill in Sept due to gaining 15 pounds in the months since the fluid was removed. For the next 3 months life became a daily struggle to eat properly and get in excersize. Thank God I hadn't gained any fu…

I had my 6 month follow up and it went great. All blood work within normal limits. Still off blood pressure medication for 3 months. Down 72 pounds. I did not buy new clothes untill I hit onederland. I have gone from a 22/24 pant to a 12/14 and a tight 3x to a L/XL shirt. I even bought a shirt in the juniors!!! it was an extra large but still JUNIORS!!!! We went on vacation and I sported a regular swim suit instead of a swim dress.!!!! I am loving it.

I just popped on to have a look at the plastic surgery section, saw one of my old posts and realised I hadn't been here for ages. I have surpassed my target and now weigh 112 pounds and wear a uk size 6.... Cant even believe it myself! I will try to upload pics from Xmas day here. I look like a different woman but now need a TT and a boob lift as it's all gone South! It's 2 and a half years since banding and 84 pounds lost....wow what a journey. Keep at it everyone it's so worth it xxx

Today has been the first nice day outside since my surgery in November. Before I knew it was that freakin nice out I had done 30 minutes free step on my WII and 20 minutes of just dance. Then we left to go out a lunch/dinner at a Hawaiian restaurant and I could not believe how FANTABLOUS it was out. I actually spent more time at the restaurant thinking about coming home and taking the dogs for a walk! So when we got home I took them and we walked farther than any time every in the last 4 years of living here, then I brought them home and decided that the yard needed to be picked up, so I put on my tennis shoes AND walked to Walgreens about 4 blocks away to by yar…

After six years of researching and going back and forth on whether or not this is what I want to do, I finally made the decision that this is what's best for me. That was 7 months ago. It has taken me 7 months of jumping through hoops with my insurance company (Anthem Blue Cross), but with the help of my doctor's amazing nurse, I finally got everything taken care of and will be having my surgery on February 25, 2011. That was last week that I got my appointment date - now coming this week, I have four appointments for pre-op - blood work, doctor's one on one visit, nurse's pre-op appointment, and an upper-GI. Next Monday, 2/7, is my final appointment before my surgery…

Which surgeon is the best to go to in Columbus Ohio? I know this is a hard question to ask but I am so stress out over this decision. I have been doing my research but it's so hard to choose because they all do the same thing . So I would just love it if you guys can give me some advise and give me your opinion of who y'all think is best.

It's pretty amazing to me how this surgery has changed my life. My one-year anniversary is coming up and I can't believe the number of ways my life and health have changed. Obviously, the main one, is how I look. People who have not seen me in awhile are simply blown away. I am half the person I used to be. Original size was 28 and now I am a 12. My wardrobe that was very carefully collected and cultivated over the years is completely gone. Ask me if I care. Shopping today is a THRILL! I have not told people how I lost my weight and the only ones who actually know the truth are my family. Works for me .. I know people around me are very critical of this surge…

I've been telling my boss to order me new work pants as mine are getting looser and looser ( I work in a bakery- very close quarters). It was crazy busy yesterday and he went past me with a big tray of bread. He accidently hooked my pants and pulled them down to my knees!!!! Thank goodness my shirts are huge ( and long)!! We all were laughing til we cried ( so did the customers). Broke our stress from how busy and guess what? He ordered new uniforms!!!

Since I've visited this forum. I've lost 33 kilos! I looked in the mirror this morning, curled my hair, put my best skirt on and jacket and went for a job interview. I went to McDonalds afterwards because my fiance wanted a burger and low and behold, when my fiance went to the bathroom a guy walked in and looked straight at me for a while, I smiled and he blushed...Then he checked me out when he thought I wasn't looking. Best feeling in the world! I just hope he wasn't looking at something like a booger on my face or something like that. I've got another 30 or so kilos to go, but I'm feeling pretty good right now :-)

Yesterday made 7 weeks to the day that I had my surgery. Today, I weighed myself and I have lost a total of 56 pounds. That means I am exactly 56 pounds away from my long term goal! 7 weeks and I'm already 1/2 way there! This first 56 pounds was no picnic, but it was worth it. I know the next 56 pounds will be, too. Whoot!!!!

  15. I've surpassed my goal by 5 lbs as of this morning, so I figured it was time for a success story post! I had my VSG done on August 9, 2010 by Dr. Alberto Aceves in Mexicali, Mexico. I was 25 years old at the time. I had been overweight or obese since I was about 11, although even as a kid, I was always a tad bigger than other girls. I was raised by my mother, who always had a weight problem and got me to be her diet buddy. In high school, I recall constantly doing the cabbage Soup diet with her and never getting past day 4, when we'd have massive binges. As a teenager, I hit my all-time low weight of 145 lbs (I am 5'5") due to bulimia and excessive working out. Unfortu…

6 months ago, I was at my highest weight in my life. I couldn't even walk to my mailbox and back without being out of breath. My driveway is only 2 car lenghts long, so that is very sad for a 32 year old woman. I would walk to get the mail, walk back in, and have to lean over the counter to catch my breath. I would take out the trash, and have to rest if I made more than one trip. I could barely make it thru a shower. After I showered, I would lay in bed naked. Once I got a flat tire in my neighborhood, and had to walk like 4-5 houses back to my house, which isn't a far distance. When I got home, I didn't think I could even make it inside. I was sweating and dizzy. I even…

I'm now 12 day post op and I'm just about back to feeling normal again. My energy level has improved each day, and I don't tire so easy with walking. I spent 3 days in the hospital because of an unexplained fever, which sucked because it's hard to really rest with nurses and aids coming in and out of your room so frequently. So far I have tolerated everything I have tried easily.which in my opinion has been a blessing. Also so far no heartburn, nausea or other complications. I have to thank god for it being such an easy journey so far. If anybody has questions I am more than willing to answer. I would love to pay the board back for all the useful information it has provid…

I stepped on the scale this morning, and for the first time since I was in my early twenties (15 years ago!) I am in ONEDERLAND! I had to step on again just to make sure. No one else was awake in the house, hubby already off to work, but I wanted to run out the door and dance down the street! I know not many people would understand this, but thanks to this lovely site, I know there are a few of you fellow bandsters that would get it.

Wouldnt consisder myself a success story yet, but here goes..... I had surgery on 3/15/10. The surgery literally saved my life. There are times when I still see 342lbs when I look in the mirror, but then there are times when I will catch my reflection and say “damn, I’m skinny!”. Is that weird? Anyhoo, a year later, I still have great restriction. Some days more than others. I can usually pack in 2-3 oz of dense Protein plus about 1-2oz of veggies in one sitting. 5oz max (meat and veggie) at one time. My hunger hasn’t really returned, I just get an empty feeling in my belly, though cravings have come back and usually attack me around my TOM. Too much sugar mak…

Hi Guys, I am feeling good about my weight loss - I am down about 115 pounds from my pre-surgery weight and people tell me I look great. I feel great and I am thinner now than I have ever been in my adult life. So what's the problem? I have seen some very dangerous habits developing in the last few weeks and months. When I get home at night - I start grazing. I'll eat crackers and Cookies -- even chips and pretzels sometimes. Never many at one time, but over the course of an evening and on a weekend, the numbers are adding up. Cookies have always been my downfall and they still go down way too easily. I almost feel like, since I am so limited as to what I can e…

I started this journey at 290 pounds, and promised myself that when I reached my first major goal, I could buy some new clothes. Today I weighed in at 250! Mission accomplished! Guess who gets to go shopping this next weekend! New underwear first--the old bras and panties are way too big. Next goal is 225. I'll actually think about getting some new jeans and tops then. BTW, I went to the thrift store this weekend and bought some broomstick skirts. I didn't even check the sizes. If they are too small, I'll fit into them someday, and if they fit now or are too big, I'll put a drawstring through the elastic casing. I'll be able to wear them until I'm almost at my …

I was 530 when I started my pre-op diet for the surgery and 499 when I checked out of the hospital a day after my surgery. I'm currently 432 lbs. That's AMAZING to me. Even still, the idea of that I still need to lose AT least 233 to get to my goal (at or just under 200lbs, or "onederland") can get pretty overwhelming sometimes. I am so excited I have decided to do this but I'm finding myself very nervous. I have only had one surgery in my life, (gallbladder removed last year), and I think the actual SURGERY part scares me more than the recovery and new way of life that follows....and I am a nurse! lol. 45. I starting my seventh week since being sleeved and I'm seeing some significant changes. I've dropped 54 lbs since my pre-op weigh-in and 73 lbs from my high weight when I made my decision to start down this path. I'm also seeing some slowing in the decline of my quick weight loss of the first of the few weeks as I've moved into regular foods. If only it would continue but I understand the process. I'm beginning to add some exercise into my routine (3-5 mile walks) so I know this will help my metabolism. I'm using an app for my Blackberry to track the foods I eat called Calorie Counter by Fat Secret. It gives me Protein counts and seems to have almost every kind of f…

Wow, I never thought I'd be saying this, but lately I've been choosing healthier foods compared to junk foods because I want to stay healthy. There just isn't enough room in my stomach for bad and good foods, and I will reach for a protein bar over potato chips now because it makes me feel better. There it is, small short and to the point. Hello all! So I weighed in this weekend to see the scale read 219.2lbs. I have not been under 220 in 15 years! This Wednesday it will be 12 weeks out from surgery and I have already lost 63lbs! This does include the 8 pounds that I lost pre-op. I just wanted to share the good news. I am really shocked and excited at how fast I am losing the weight! YAY Sleeve. It was not easy at first but it really has been worth it! Denise

Here are my 5 month post- op pictures. I think I only lost 11 pounds since my 4 month post op pics, but I still wanted to share. I am comfortably fitting in to my size 20's now and wearing them in public, LOL! In my 4 month pic, I just wore the jeans for the pictures.
