Today we went to Lake Geneva, a small upscale town we have been going to for years. Well today for the first time I WENT IN one of those small boutique shops and tried on dresses. Yes, dresses. I liked what I seen! Funny thing is they are those type of dresses that require a second person for zipping. So I go out to this lady whom I thought worked there as she wad brining clothes to other woman asked her to zip me up, she gladly did so and then brought me other dresses to try on. She made recommendations and came back to check on me several times. NOW for the hilarious part,,,, she did NOT work there! She was with her friends and just started picking things o…

I was sleeved back on 3/1/11 and have had better than average results, I could not be happier with this surgery. The results I have had are due to the surgery, plus that fact that I have been working out very hard, going to the gym 4 days a week, and CrossFit 3 days a week, not to mention the daily walking. I am down a little over 100 lbs at this point, and could not be happier, but a few weeks ago I hit a stall, and was stuck there in spite of how hard I worked out, and how perfect I ate. So at the end of last week the scale did finally start to move again, wow was I happy, but that's not the victory I'm taking about, but its the lead in to it. Yesterday after leavin…

As of today, I have gone from a size 52 waist to a size 38 since January of this year (approaching 80 lbs. lost). I now can get back in clothes that fit me in late 80’s (post disco stuff). Well instead of going out buy new expensive clothes I started dressing in the old 1980’s and 1990’s apparels. Hey, they fit; I am saving money, feeling good, what else is there to worry about – right. Wrong, my 20 year old son mentioned to me, a young lady asked him had I been away to prison because my style of clothes looks like I just got out of jail and have not kept up the latest fashions. That kind of burned my grits, not being a slave to new styles and wanting to save a few …

  11. I love reading the success of others and always try to look for people that are around the same amount of time post-op as me. So here is my success story...sleeved March 15th, started pre-op diet a few weeks before that at 271 lbs. I now weigh 209 lbs so that is 61 lbs down. I was wearing size 24 clothes (barely) and now am fitting comfortably into size 16. My weight loss has been very steady with no plateaus (thank God!). I do exercise about 3 or 4 times a week...usually cardio and occasionally weights. I start my day every morning with a protein shake b/c it's easy not b/c I have to. Then I have lunch of 3 to 5 oz meat (really 3 oz b/c I can't fit more than that)…

Hello everyone! One month ago, on May 17, I went into the operating room and received my brand new sleeve. And what a month it has been! The first two days were the worst - I underestimated both the gas pain and how tired I would be. Had it not been for the gas pain, I would have felt great, but it really hit me hard. However, come the day I was released from the hospital, it was all gone and I felt like myself again. I have to say, I feel like my recovery has been a lot easier and quicker than some I've read on here. I have not touched my pain or nausea medicine at all, I've had no heartburn, no depression, no fatigue, everything I've eaten has gone down just fine, and I…

So I went to Fitness Kick Boxing tonight. This is the first time in over a year that I have stepped foot in the dojo. I got there a little early to see the advanced class in Martial Arts in action. While I was standing there watching some grappling I said "Hi Guys" Sho-Sempai (name for a student teacher) looks up smiles and says "Look who got skinny!" Tommy looks up when he says that and his eyes go wide and Sho-Sempai proceeded to take him by surprise nailed him to the mat. I laughed my ass off at that it was too funny. You have to see the visual, Sho-Sempai is 17 tall and super skinny, lanky kid, Tommy is about 40, tall, heavy set with muscles and some chunk. It was the…

  17. You know, NSV's don't happen to often for me anymore. Of course, last summer was my first swimsuit purchase and wearing in 20 years, and now here I am 5 months pregnant, rocking the bump, rocking the wrinkly thigh skin, and you know what I could give 2 poops what anyone else thinks of me. I've gained a whopping 10lbs with the pregnancy, and it's all belly. My butt is getting a little rounder, but really, I'm so grateful to be able to live the life I have today ! ! ! OK--8 weeks out, dropping from 22/24 jeans to everything fitting well in a 16!!!!. Not limited to the plus size dept! Lost enough tummy size that my boobs enter the room before my stomach does! So, so, so, happy to have done this and just want to hug Dr. Jawad every day! BMI down from 40 to 33 as of today--two categories of fat down, two to go. Thanks for letting me brag a bit. Have had several week + long stalls, but just waited them out. 40 lbs. since starting the preop clearances, a little over 30 since surgery 8 weeks ago. Why didn't I do this sooner?

So at the start of my journey a year ago I weighed 309 lbs. At the day of surgery I was 251 and today I'm down to 170.2. Yes I am an addict to my scale. I mean so damn bad that the battery died and I swear I went into convulsions. It's hard to believe that this is my body and I do take pics almost everyday so it will register in my head that yes I am thinner and not the 300lb blob that I still see myself as. I'm not to comfortable in my saggy skin just yet but hey heres what I look like in my first tank top since I had surgery. My hard work is starting to pay off I would think. If you are undecided still, do it and you will not regret anything at all. My hubby has ev…

Hiya! My name is Karen and I was sleeved on May 10th, by Dr. Nick Nicholson here in Dallas, TX. My recovery has been fairly uncomplicated and I have amazing support from my husband and family. I am a nurse and I went back to 12-hour shifts after two weeks. I still am not hungry and I have lost about 35lbs since pre-op. My husband jacked my scale and hid it from me because I was weighing myself everyday and I had a stall for about four days early on. I now weigh once a week (wednesdays) and I concentrate on the NSV's that seem to happen daily. The decision to have this surgery has totally changed my life and I am so thankful that it actually happened! I was a cash…

  24. Hey fellow sleevers, Today is my 8-week surgiversary. I have lost 42 pounds and still have a lot to go. But I have gone from a size 26/28 to a size 20 on the top and 22 on the bottom. My shoe size has gone down from a 12W to an 11-1/2 normal width (I'm 6'2", and my mom used to say that if I had smaller feet, I'd blow over in a high wind, LOL). I made my first purchase from the “regular” size women’s clothing section the other day—an XL T-shirt that fits beautifully (yes, it’s stretchy!). I have learned how to eat—what to eat, how much, and when. I have also, through repeated trial and error, learned how NOT to eat—fast, thoughtlessly, without a PPI on board, wi…

Was at my sisters wedding on Friday and had a blast. It was so much fun. Everyone was amazed at how I looked and kept calling me things like skinny, slim and tiny. Kept hearing you're melting away, you are disapearing etc etc. I love all the compliments and at the same time it makes me feel a little weird. I don't know, but I still don't see me as skinny etc. In the past it was always at this point that the tides would turn and I would gain what ever I lost back. The best thing is that the ones that know me better, didn't say those things but did ask how I felt and how was my over all health with the weight loss. That is when I got animated about it all because I haven…

Hi! I have been a close follower of the forum, more in the initial days post the surgery. It helped reduce my stress level as whatever concerns or questions I had was shared by someone or the other. Lately, I have been visiting the forum less and realize that I have also been less disciplined and motivated with my regime. I am happy with the overall progress at an individual level but when I compare myself to any of the case studies, I think I am an outlier . I had my VSG on 6th Jan 2011 with the pre-surgery weight of 202.6 pounds (am 162 inches). Today is 12th June and I am 159 pounds. A total loss of approx 43 pounds. I had to post the outcome of the evening on the forum, because I knew it was the only place where people would understand. Background info, I saw the doctor this morning and she said I can try advancing to slightly fuller liquids like yogurt or cottage cheese, being very careful to see what I tolerate. I was expecting the worst. So as I slowly lifted my eyes to the digital scale display on the wall I see it............bam! 7 more pounds gone. Wow I love surprises like this. I am happy to announce I am now smaller than I have been in 10 years!

I am three months out today, and am down 61 lbs since surgery. I was a high of 322 on the initial consult in May of last year, so total I am down 113 lbs. I have done it all by following the low carb rules, portion rules, and drinking over 100oz of Water a day. I still drink two Celebrate Vitamins ENS shakes per day to get 50g of Protein. These also have all my vitamins in them as well (I still have to take one 500mg Calcium supplement though). I haven't had follow up bloodwork yet, but soon. I would say my average day has 900-1000 cals and 100g of protein. I also take 4g of Coromega-3 gel Omega-3 supplement. This really helped my mental sharpness come back around m…

I am five weeks out from surgery. I'm losing steadily, and have fortunately not had any stalls that last more than a couple of days. Hope I didn't just jinx myself. Here are some of my NSVs: I had knee caps under all that padding I had to sleep last night with a pillow between my knees (I sleep on my side) because my knee bones were crunching each other. LOL. I walked laps at the hospital where I work today and not once did I feel out of breath My knee arthritis is not hurting me at all right now. Before surgery I was so in pain that I dreaded going up and down the stairs in our house. My seat belt doesn't ride up into my neck because of so much stomach and boob. …

Ok... so if you've read some of my posts recently, I've been complaining about being in a stall or not losing inches or anything. I received some killer advice on this board and took it to heart. I stopped consuming 2-3 Protein shakes a day and decided to get most of my protein in via food, I stopped weighing myself everyday, and I up'd my Water intake by double! So, here I go last week with all my changes and what happens? I get hit with my kids' cold/flu! I've been out of commission since last Thurs and am finally back to work and feeling somewhat normal. The bad news? I havent been able to eat anything substantial since last week and have only been able to finish …
