I'm pretty early to have a NSV, but I had to share. Even though I'm single and don't have to "hide" food from anyone at home, my lifestyle is so hectic that I am always on the go and consequently it seemed like I was always eating in my car. Not really a fan of fast food, with a couple of exceptions- but it wasn't a big deal to have other food I bought at the store to "eat and run". Consequently, my car always had food crumbs on the floor or cup holder. I just went and got my car cleaned today (1st time since surgery 3 wks ago) and realized I might be able to keep my car clean now because eating in the car is going to be a thing of the past now or at the very leas…

My biggest goal I've had long before vsg, was to run a half marathon. It's always been a dream of mine ( weird I know). So registration finally opened the other day for the Disneyland princess half marathon. You run through the theme park and through LA, with characters and bands along the way. I SIGNED UP!!!! It will be 2 days off my 1 year surgery anniversary. I'm soo excited. I Hit the gym tonight for some training ( I haven't been since my mom was in hospital over a month ago) and was able to run for 21 minutes straight!! That's a new record for me. My last record was about 7! Aaaaaaaaaa!!!! I can't believe I'm actually going to make my dream come true!!!

Friends, I am shattered. I entered into OT with a hope that I will lose quiet some weight with VSG. But 10 weeks out, I'm STALLED. I lost quite some weight in initial two weeks (26 lbs), but after that - it just seems to have all ended. Just 2 lb loss in the last two months (8 wks), and that too is supposedly the Water loss/gain as it keeps fluctuating!! Help me with ideas to move on from here!!! I'm feeling so frustrated that sometimes can't even sleep due to this stress. I have not been walking/exercising, but have started that too in a hope that it'd work some wonder, but have been useless as of now. My diet is fully regime driven, with no extra carbs or fats and I'm…

I had my surgery on January 13 by Dr. Aceves. I am 5'8" and started at 232 lbs and I am 56 years old. I had been a yo-yo dieter for as long as I can remember and recall my mother telling me in third grade that if I didn't stop eating so much we would have to shop in the "Chubby Girls" section of the stores. You can imagine what that did for a 9 year-old's self-esteem. Anyway, I bounced up and down between size 10-14 in my 20's and 30's. I was diagnosed with MS when I was 28 and sometimes it was difficult to find the energy to exercise, but I love to run and tried to do as much as I could when I was in remission. Divorce, a long MS relapse, and menopause led to a gai…

So, I have never liked having my picture taken. I only really like looking at myself while I'm performing, so I'm okay with pictures of me in costume or during a performance. The first picture here is of a performance May 2010 . I really didn't lose much if anything from that point. My surgery was March 2011. The second picture is of a more recent performance, June 2011. I've lost another ten pounds since then.

My weight has fluctuated over the past six years I've gone from a size 9 in juniors to a size 18 in women's. So needless to say I refused to give or throw away any of those old clothes. With the sleeve that choice was the best one I have made. I have so many old clothes that are still in style I have not had to go and shop for any new ones. I am now down to a size 11/12 and I can fit some of those old 9's I have in my closet. I am so happy I always try to keep a goal pair of jeans that are one or two sizes below where I currently am. To have a constant visual of the effects of the sleeve.

Can some of the 'pros' give me some pointers for posting pics? I looked and could not figure it out. I found one place where you could add a picture, but it would not take my 'link' in the actual post. I would like to know how to post the pics in the body of the post. I have a MacBook if that makes any difference in the directions I need to follow. I am no good with these types of things. I don't even know where I should save the pics on my computer in order to post them later. Right now, they are in Apple 'pages' and on my desktop. Thanks for any info!!

So I just updated my ticker and realized I have lost half of my excess weight! Woo Hoo! Now I still have a lot of weight to lose but this is a great realization! My doctor set my goal between 230 and 260 (started at 417). There is absolutely no way I would be happy with that! I set my goal at 175 and figured I would just reassess when I reached that. Did you all stick with your doctor's goal or set your own? I just feel 230-260 is too high. I've been at 200 before and wasn't even happy with my weight then.

The milestones keep coming! According to the BMI chart for my height, I reached "normal" status over the weekend. No longer overweight :-) I, personally, think BMI calculations are garbage, but it is nice to finally be clinically normal. I also am steady in size 12 pants and, for some reason, that really had an emotional affect on me. I really do feel like a normal person again for the first time in so many years. I've been having some tough times lately with my eating limitations, but having this constant progress is so helpful. Feeling fantastically average...

  13. Hmmm... well - here it goes... I guess I'm just mentally drained where hard core weight loss is concerned quite frankly. Before I continue let me be clear I may still lose some weight... however as far as really working my butt off and continued food restraint... I think I really am done. Period. Yes I'll continue to do my early morning running, I'll still do my workouts (this will be always and forever) and I'm probably going to add in some muscle toning exercises. I bulk up really easily so this is actually going to slow down the losses a bit. However, I'm NOT going to actively push more workouts to post higher losses anymore. I'm also NOT going to do low carbs…

  14. July 1st marked four months since I threw caution to the wind and joined this adventure. And, man, am I glad I did. I've lost 70 lbs. but the more amazing part is all that I've found. There was a confidence and self-assurance lurking under all the fat that was dying to come out! It's led me to apply for and get a crazy promotion, start running and most importantly, begin asserting myself in my private life. I've always been the one to "take one for the team". Not so much anymore. Amazing things that have happened in the last four months: 1. I've gone from a 24 to a 16. 2. Got an amazing new job- I attribute this completely to the post surgery confidence. 3. I wrappe…

  15. My insurance approved my sleeve today! Nothing like cutting it close, my surgery is scheduled for July 13th. I'm still freaking out. Can't help but be nervous. But I do have a question, those of you who have had your sleeves awhile, do you still worry about getting a leak? or is it only in the first few weeks? Does the stomach heal over? I've tried researching this but have not found to much. Thanks for the input! Hopefully I will be on that loser's bench real soon!!

I went shopping today with my wonderful husband. We hit Lane Bryant first since I needed some bras. Nothing fit right. All the clothes were too big. What a pain in the ass. We hit the mall and spent 6 hours shopping. I finally found some bras at VS (haven't been able to shop there for so long). Had to take 2 of everything into the fitting rooms to figure out what size to get. I'm everything from a 16 - 20 in normal clothes. Everything I tried on in Womens was just too big. My tops are between a L and XL. I was able to buy clothes at the Limited, Lord and Taylors and Talbotts and everything was 40-60 percent off. Woo Hoo,. My bank account is empty but my close…

So I've been in the 220's for about 2 months now and I was 220 exactly for 1 month. I was getting frustrated because the scale wouldn't budge and all I wanted was to get in the teens. Well let me tell you all that yesterday morning when I weighed myself I was 213, I was so excited. Not only did I break into the teens I'm almost of out them already. I know I keep saying this but I love my sleeve with all my heart and without her none of this would have been possible.

Anyways I have been working my way through my closet from 5X shirts to 4X to 3X to 2X, and giving away (donating) the stuff that is WAY to BIG on me. The past few days I tried on some of my tighter fitting 2x shirts, ones that had shrank to more of a XL and they fit, they fit well!! Today I went to JC penny's because they were having a huge sale, Saint Johns bay polo shirts for 9.99, Nike dry polo shirts, and so on. well to my surprise I fit in every single XL shirt I tried on even the Nike and Adidas ones that are known to run small. I was trying on pants and shorts, I'm …

I haven't been on here a lot...but just had to share. My husband had surgery in November and has lost over 100 pounds and looks fabulous! I have lost over 77 pounds now and I feel great. My loss has not been fast-but it is in the right direction, so I am happy! Unfortunately I am a carbaholic, so I really have to work at not having bread. With our higher energy level we are tackling some yard work that was not done for quite some time-so my gardens look beautiful, our shed has been cleaned out and washed down, overgrown ivy and pine trees have been trimmed, etc. I now walk two miles, a couple of times a week with a friend, when we first started I could barely do th…

Hi. Here is my story. I researched the lab band procedure for 2 years before I actually had it done. My surgery took place on 4/1/10 and started out at 227 lbs. I've had 2 fills only-.5 cc in band when placed, 1st fill of 2 cc and then .5 cc last fill. I've lost 63 lbs. so far and almost to my first goal-160 lbs. I went from a size 18-20 to a size 12. I can't believe I'm actually in a size 12. I know you shouldn't be stuck on size but I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT!! I know this isn't for everybody but I am very glad that I had it done and would definitely do it againt. I had no pain and no problems. The incisions healed great and the scars look great. Well, one of them just looked my direction, look back at her friend and then her head snapped back to me and she checked me out!! *huge grin* I don't think I have ever had anyone do a double take for any reason other than my enormity. I have started to walk some, I just need to stick with it and add in other things. I am amazed everyday how great I feel. 28. I am getting married July 30. We didn't have a long engagment, so as soon as I got engaged I went and bought a wedding dress, size 14. Back then I thought that was pretty good because wedding dresses run very small, and at that point I was a size 14/16 in clothes.... so I figured I'd lose some weight, possibly have to take it in, but it'd be fine. Well, I was having wedding dress remorse (it was "blush" aka pink) and decided to pop into a small dress shop on my way home from work. The woman asked me what size I am and I told her probably a 12 or 14 depending on the style. She looked at me and said "Are you sure? You don't look like a 12/14". So I just let her grab …

She will say something like, "God I am getting so huge... Yesterday, she tells me that she has been 'a little competitive' with me in trying to lose weight because she doesn't want me to weigh less than her. (This is no shock. I am wondering what to expect (getting sleeved in exactly a month) I am recently out of a 4 year relationship, and being single is odd to me- I am excited for a whole new life. 36. When I was at my highest weight (300lb Easter 2010) I said I wanted to lose 100 lb at least. I started my VSG journey by going to my PCP (June 2010) for my 6 months insurance requirement. I said then that I hoped to be under 200 by 7/4/11. They all thought that was to aggressive and my surgeon did as well. From Easter 2010 to surgery day, I lost 48lb (weighed 252 at surgery on 3/28/11). Today I weighed in at...........199.8!!! I almost didn't believe it but I took a picture of the scale to remember it by! I am so thankful for this journey and more thankful to have all of you to share it with!!!

It's not even a noticeable weight loss in terms of my appearance or clothes but it's making me feel great that I've lost enough to use a normal scale Oh and that's 22 lb for the Americans out there

  44. Started by apple-saucy,

so i went shopping on Saturday for new under clothes and popped into another store nearby to try to find some capri's or shorts for the family vacation that is coming up in 2wks. I grabbed the 4x's and the 3x's and on a whim a 2x capri's I laughed at myself putting the 4x "Safe" pants on they were SO loose and baggy! I totally skipped over the 3x's and grabbed the 2x's...took a deep breath stepped in and began to pull them up fully expecting to have to stop at my thighs or do a shimmy wiggle booty skooch to get them over my hips. They fit. Not only do they fit. They are a bit baggy in the seat. I ran out and grabbed 2 more pairs of 2x bottoms in different bran…

So I can finally say BYE~BYE to the 300's! Woo Hoo! The scale said 298 today! Now of course I wish I was saying bye to the 200's but hey gotta start somewhere. And my highest was 417 last November (354 at surgery in March) so gotta Celebrate that- right? I'm so happy with my choice to have the sleeve! I'm feeling so much better already and have a lot of energy! I love getting on here pretty much daily and reading all the fabulous success stories- that keeps me motivated. I think I'm checking this more than my Facebook now! LOL!

  47. Hi everyone....I know that I havent reached my total goal yet, i have so much to lose that I havent set myself a total goal yet just a series of mini goals, but this one is significant to me.....I was banded in November 09 and have had a total of 4 new ports in the first year of the band so needless to say I have had a lot of setbacks......but I have still been trying really hard the entire time even though its needed a LOT of will power for the times when i go back in for a re op and start again almost from scratch with my fills!!!!! For anyone who says that this is the easy option, tell them to talk to me and I will let them know how hard it can really be!!!! Anyway …

  48. Hi all my fellow sleevers, Like most sleevers, when I had my VSG procedure I set some weight loss progress goals so my ultimate weight loss goal (99 lbs.) didn't seem quite so impossible. Aside from my ultimate weight loss goal, the one goal that I really, really wanted to achieve was to weigh less than my husband ... and finally, today was the day! WOOT!?! I saw 170.4 on the scale and knew I was really close to his weight, so I called DH to hop on the scale. He obliged, and the scale said he weighed 172.8 -- more than 2 lbs. more than I weigh. This is a sweet NSV! We are having our 15th anniversary on Wednesday, and for most of our marriage, I have weighed more…

  49. Well it is close to my one year surgiversary and I have to say that I have been a total lazy bones the last 3 months and I am kicking myself in the butt for it. I am jumping back on the exercise bandwagon. I gained 3 pounds the last couple of months but I think it is from some medication I have been taking but I should be able to stop in the next week or so. THANK GOD. I know I know 3 pounds big whoop but I still want to lose an additional 15. It is so great to come back and see everyone that is working their sleeves and giving so much inspiration for those starting their journey. Way to go girls and guys too. Here is a pic from shopping last week. I shop wayyyyyy to m…

  50. I admit I've been in kind of a terrible mood lately. Mostly it's my divorce kicking my ass. I'll be in a decent mood, envisioning how I am going to restart my life on the terrible scorched earth coordinates wherein nothing intersects with nowhere; and then the ex will call. Lately? The ex wants to instruct me and give his impeccable expertise on the pursuit of happiness. For example: you need to learn to be satisfied with the little things, like the sunshine and the trees and the flowers, he'll say. I could tell you why that infuriates me, but i think you can imagine the whole backstory yourself. After this happens, I will hang up and fly into a rage that last…
