My 9 month surgiversary is on the 15th but I will be on Vacation so I'm doing my update today! For the past 9 months I think I have been doing pretty good. I am 5 pounds away from having a normal BMI which is my ultimate GOAL! Once I get there I will see where I want to be. People are telling me I am way too thin now, and I am looking a little on the sick side. I think once I have my plastics, to get rid of the 'twin skin' that is what i call it, and get the boobies lifted I will look good! I an wearing a size 6 pants and shorts, and a size small/ medium shirts and dresses. I am so happy with my life right now i could not tell you! I love shopping and trying on …

This time today a year ago I was in my hospital room, having had surgery that morning. That first day was rough for me, too, although I rapidly improved. What a difference a year makes! I weighed 385.5 on May 21, 2010 when I had my initial consult. Weighed 266 at surgery and have lost 145 pounds. Have been in a stall for several weeks, but I'm still losing albeit more slowly. Have some advice that hopefully will trigger some loss again plus trainer is going to try to change up my workout routine to jog some loss as well. At age 62 (now 63 and soon to be 64 in the fall) and even though I have a large amount of weight still to lose, the difference in a year is amaz…

Today I am at 219 that's 54 lbs since may 10th! So my scale victory is I am officially at my lowest adult weight I was 220 at 17. So I am in completely new territory! I bought some jeans a month ago that are a 40. I couldn't web button them. I can wear them! That is 14 in smaller than at my highest weight of 311!!!! I am only albs from my mini goal of 60lbs in 2 months before rhe U2 concert on the 9th of July and think I am going to make it! Lastly yestarday a friend told me I needed to go home and changed my "pantaloons". Lol.

As I rode my back today I was feeling self conscious about my stomach area and loose skin on my arms,,, I know, I know. However the thing that struck me as I rode through the park this TOTALLY built man was there with his kids there and he did the acknowledgment nod,, like I accept you are riding for your health and working out. Totally cool!

So I had surgery last wed and I am down 17 yes 17LBS. I can't believe it. Of course, skeptical me says that it's going to stop and the minute I eat food, the weight will just stick. Can someone PLEASE tell me that it's not the case. Has anyone else felt this way? Fear of failure of eating? Too Many emotions to think straight.

My actual surgiversary was on the 4th of June, so a little late. While I was in Las Vegas at the Weight Loss Surgery Foundation of America's National meeting, I had some boudoir photos taken. It was also our wedding anniversary, so surprised hubby with the photos. So here are before, after, boudoir and of me getting the new tat hubby had promised me as a reward for reaching goal. Don't laugh, even girls with skinny legs need love too! ha

SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES IS MUCH HARDER NOW. It used to be so easy -- just go into the store and look for the largest size they carried. In shirts, it was always XXL and in pants I had just moved to a 44. Now, I have to try everything on -- I don't know my sizes any more. I am a medium in some shirts and a large in others. In pants, I am either a 34 or a 36 depending on the cut, but I have to try them all on. Also, maybe it's just me, but when I was 300 pounds, I always had trouble finding my sizes. Feels like I was always looking for the big sizes. Now that I am an M or an L, all I seem to find are XXLs! Very strange indeed. Of course, I am teasing about complai…

So, for those not on my Facebook, we had the 20 week anatomy scan today. It was actually my 2nd, the first said girl with 70% definitely a girl. I just wasn't convinced because the first U/S was not 100% conclusive. . . As for my stats, my labs are stellar except for my platelet counts which is related to my clotting disorder and has nothing to do with my VSG. As for the baby, measuring on target (actually a couple of days early), weighing in a couple of ounces heavy, and is thriving. For those wondering if pregnancy is possible, or safe, or anything else post-VSG. We're living proof it is not only possible, but I've had a fabulous pregnancy thus far ! ! ! …

Today is the one year anniversary of my weight loss surgery. The surgeon said it would take AT LEAST a year to get to goal... two years with "typical" results. Goes to show him I am not a typical patient hahaha I did this surgery for one BIG reason which really lit a fire under my butt.... I want to be a mom. So I hope that piece of the puzzle happens for me soon. The Beginning.... Day Before Surgery. Down about 45 lbs Now!!! A total loss of 130 lbs +/-

Ok, so my scale says for my second month that I didn't lose anything but gained 3lbs. So I took everyone's advise and did my measurements. Since I didnt take them when I got my surgery, I called my surgeons office and got the measurements that they did. Over all I have lost a total of 19.75 inches. Not too bad I think.

Alright, Alright... i know it's really early but I just wanted to show you all what 40lbs has done!! I'm 2 months out and dropped 40lbs! You can definatly see it in my face and belly!! I'm so happy with my sleeve and I just cant wait to see what I look like next month!!

Hi all, Thought I'd boost my current bad mood by posting a new before and during pic. I had my surgery on 4 February 2011 when I was at 310lb. I had my first weight loss procedure (gastric balloon) almost a year ago at my highest at 376lbs. Here I am today at 231lbs! Just 71lbs to go until goal...

So since I am going to NJ this week, I thought I would clean out my closet of clothes that don't fit and bring them to my sisters. Holy Cow Batman!!! I had a lot of stuff ranging from size 14 to 18. Good thing is my sisters ( I have 4 sisters ) range from 14 to size 18 . Ok, so that being said, I was thinking what the heck am I going to do about clothes. Then in the back of my closet was a big plastic bin. About 6 or 7 years ago, I lost about 60-70 lbs (from start of my journey last June I am down a total of 64lbs, 59 if you put back the damn water weight I am holding LOL) and of course a month or two after I reached that point the yo-yo went back up. I know all of you gu…

Good grief, I finally got around to taking my measurements which I have not done since 1 month post op. Now here I am at 4 months post op and down 63 3/4 inches. So as I was showing my husband the numbers it dawns on me that I have lost my height. Oh. My. Goodness. And I am not even to goal. Part of me is seriously embarrassed that I could lose my height in inches off my body but the other part of me says BOOYAH! And this last week I went to my grandparents wedding and fit a size 12 dress and a medium shrug. I cannot even tell you the last time I fit in either one of those sizes. So many NSVs now which I do believe I love more than watching the scale move. So…

It's been a really easy project to take in T-shirts and skirts. I took in the waist of a size 14 skirt yesterday by about 3-4 inches. 5 months ago that skirt was too small for me! I'm not really skilled enough to take in pants but the other things has been so much fun. One of my favorite t-shirts was from Lane Bryant-now I can wear it again!

Tada! I'm at 199.9 this morning! It's about 5 weeks out from surgery. I've lost 22 lbs from my day before surgery weight and 54 lbs. from my nearly all-time high weight in February when I began the pre-op diet. 1/5 of my weight GONE in 4 months!!!! I've been expecting onderland, but it was still a shock to see that 1 at the beginning of the numbers. I'be only been under 200 once before during this millennial, century. last two decades, and it was a brief visit. Within days, I popped back, up in the 200s. The next twenty pounds will bring me to a weight I haven't seen in nearly twenty years and will deposit me firmly in the land of the overweight, not obese. I think t…

I just got back from a vacation this week and it reinforced for me that I can occasionally eat things that are not on my plan and be okay. I ate a lot of my favorite foods in New England (where I was visiting) including blueberry pie, fried clams, clam chowder and a lobster roll! The difference this year is that I ate 5 fried clams...not a huge plateful with french fries and coleslaw like I would have before surgery! I ate the lobster off of the lobster roll without eating the bread and didn't even eat all of that. My crab cake was shared with hubby and the piece of blueberry pie was just a sliver. Before I left for vacation I decided that I was not going…

On my 4 month "surgiversary" this week, I noticed I was feeling sleepy and lethargic. I took my blood pressure over a 4 hour period, and it was running about 95 / 55. I'm surprised I was up and walking around! Talked to my doctor. She had me cut my blood pressure medication dosage in half. I had already eliminated one of the two drugs I had been taking for blood pressure after my 3 month check-up. So I have gone from 2 pills twice a day to 1/2 pill twice a day. YEA! So far, my blood pressure is running about 105 / 65. I feel much better. Zumba class later this morning - I don't think my blood pressure will be low after that!

I have finally lost over 100# and have just 20-30 more to go. I was nanded in August 2008 but had 2 set backs. First the port rolled and I couldnt get filled and then I had to have my gallbladder out which required emptying the band. I ran and 8K last year and have done 2 5K this year one with and obstacle course. I am feeling great, healthy and strong. I am hoping to rech goal by fall which will be 3 years

Tomorrow afternoon I will be interviewing for a chance at a GIGANTIC promotion. Although I am totally qualified for the position, I wouldn't have dreamed of throwing my name in the hat 3 months ago. The weight-loss and ability to control my eating has given me that much confidence. Part of me is terrified but another part is so grateful that I've found the confidence to pursue these opportunities I've let pass for too long. Getting the call that I made it to the interview stage is one NSV, actually facing the THIRTEEN member interview panel will be another. Actually getting the job? Beyond my wildest expectations! To those contemplating this surgery, I would say that …

Hi all- Some you may remember that I posted about a month ago about a big job interview I had and that I got a call back. Well, I got the call today and was offered the position. This position is MUCH higher than my current position and the salary is a FIFTY percent increase over my current salary. To say I am thrilled is putting it lightly. The thing that I have thought about the most today as I accepted congratulations from friends and colleagues, is that I truly never would have applied for this position had I not had the sleeve surgery. The confidence that has come with taking control of my eating habits and the subsequent weight loss has changed me. And, for th…

Hello all, I just had my VSG on 6/16/11. While my doctor was taking most of my stomache out he also fixed my hieated hernia. I feel my recovery is slow from surgery but finally my vomiting has stoped after the doctor put a patch behind my ear, but now I am afraid to take if off, in fear I will be vomiting again. Have anyone ever experience pain when swallowing the liquids? I feel like I am overflowing a funel, or that feeling you get when you drink a soda too fast and you feel a lump in your troat? Can anyone tell me if that is normal?

Hi everyone. I am scheduled to travel to Mexico next month for the sleeve. I have complete peace about this and wish I could do it sooner. After thinking about the cost involved to bring someone with me I thought I'd be OK to go it alone. I'd save close to $1,000. I was wondering if anyone went by themselves and how did they feel about it after the fact.

Last night I was on a mission. I wanted to wear jeans to work today so I dug in my closet and pulled out every pair of jeans that I had. Honey I gave away 13 pairs of jeans last night!!! :D I would try on a pair, run to the mirror, see that they were too big -- then the music would play in my head!! At first it was very faint and then it got louder and louder and that's when I would do the Shimmy Shimmy shake until the jeans fell off my body!!! I was cracking up so hard and making such a ruckus my husband had to come upstairs to make sure I hadn't completely lost my mind! I told him my "dilemma" and he was like, "Well I guess you have to go shopping then!" …

Heck freaking yeah! I just amazed. 50 lbs in 38 days. *worlds dorkiest happy dance*. So in the last two days have have had 15 people ask about my weight loss. (people who don't know about surgery). I just say "I stopped eating" and actually lol. :-)

Yesterday I stopped at a Farmers Market on bike ride and I was very interested in a booth that was offering info on a fruit and veggie supplement (as I don't feel after protien, I get enough of) and the effects of exercise and oxidative stress on the body. Long story short the lady called me athlete, blush blush,, while yes I am riding like the wind and working out, I never thought of myself as an athlete!

According to the height/weight charts, as of my last (Friday) weigh-in, my BMI is now 29.9, which means I'm -- just barely -- "overweight" instead of "obese" for the first time in, well, ever. As long as I've been weighing myself, anyway! WOOOHOOO!
-
I know this will not sound very importamt to a lot of you but it is big for me. I can now fit in a booth at restaurants and do not have to sit at a table. I hated always asking for a table because I could not fit in a booth. I have specifically asked for a booth for the last two weeks when we go out and it is fantastic. I will never sit at a table again if I have a choice.

Okay folks this is something that I would have never been able to do 125 pounds ago. I walked up 15 flights of stairs.....omg omg omg. It was good workout but boy am I tired, lol. Again I'm so loving my sleeve because without her none of this would have been possible

I was sleeved 5/9/11 and from 6/6 thru 6/16 lost NOTHING!! I was bummed! I had my first follow-up appointment with my surgeon on 6/16 and he advised me that losts of paitents stop losing when transitioning to solids. I stopped losing the minute that I started eating solid foods! How weird. He told me that it would be o.k. and that my body would adjust and I would start losing again and to just follow my guidelines and I would be fine. It also was TOM and maybe that had something to do with it, who knows, but I am to not eat "soft calories" any longer and focus more on solid foods like meat. I have been doing so since last Thursday and have lost 4lbs!! This morning when…

So I wore some stretchy capri length leggings out of the house to go to our little local grocery store last night. I had on a shirt that used to be tight on me but is now tunic length or looks like a maternity shirt now (LOL) so my rear end had full coverage...but I wore LEGGINGS OUT OF THE HOUSE!

I wanted to share my story to try and inspire others. I was overweight all my life, but when I hit a high of 250 after graduating law school I knew something had to change. My doctor actually told me that if I didn't take drastic steps I was on the road to early mortality, which prompted me to pay for the surgery myself. I had my surgery six months ago, and now I'm at 188, just 3 pounds from having a BMI of 25. My ultimate goal is 175 pounds (I'm 6 feet tall), so it's an ongoing process, but my progress is still steady. I'm no longer pre-diabetic, my asthma has cleared up, and I can run 2 miles a day. I couldn't climb a flight of stairs six months ago without gaspin…

All my life my weight has been a relationship issue because I feel fat or look fat or get fat. Kinda the biggest hurdle for me. Now I'm married and I was just slightly chubby when I met my hubby and then gained like 55 lbs over the years. I always thought he was disappointed about the weight gain, as I was. So now after losing my 70 lbs I lost a couple more lbs on vacay and he hugged me tonight was kind said "AGHHHH" and I was like "WHAT?" and he said "I just don't want you to get toooooo thin". Which I'm not, I'm 5'1" and still weight 146. But it was such a great thing to hear someone say. I'm like, can you say that like 200 times to me. Because my whole life m…

Last Sunday after church the Hubby and I went to our local Goodwill Industries store to pick him up some work pants. The last time I went in there, which was over a year ago, I had to look in the “Plus Size” section. Now everyone knows how that goes . . . when you enter a store you see all these cute clothes for the “regular” sized woman but go to the Plus Size section and you see some of your Grandma’s old clothes . . . you know the jeans/pants with elastic in the waist and some of her old gardening shirts thrown in for good measure!!! Now this time I went to the regular size section for women!! I made out like a bandit!!! I got a pair of Michael Kor’s jeans [tag s…

So, I am at about 6-7 weeks out from surgery. I have lost about 50% of what I want to lose. I'm overall feeling better physically--or at least I was. For the past week and a half I have been getting very faint when I stand up and it lasts a couple of minutes. Also, all of a sudden going up stairs has become as difficult as it was before I had surgery. I don't get out of breath, my legs just feel like Iron. I have been on blood pressure meds for about 10 years now. I take Lisinopril HCTZ and Metoprolol once a day. My bp has been on average around 130/80 WITH the meds. So I decided to go to my PCP today to tell him about the lethargy and lightheadedness. He took my blood …

I went to the doctors on thursday to see my PCP and my blood pressure was 123/81. Never in my adult life have I had a normal bp reading. I was so use to hearing 140 or higher over whatever that it took me a little time to realize that it was normal lol. He still has me on 2 medications but I'll take that since I started out taking 4 medications before surgery and I'm also on half the dose that I was on starting out. My next NSV is I wore a 5 inch pair of heels to my co-workers wedding last week. I now wake up at 4:30 on the days that I have to work to do a hour of yoga which I would have never done before surgery. Everyday I notice that I do more without even thinki…

Last year my husband had a proceedure done and was not able to get around. Couldn't drive etc. Well I don't drive so my mode of transportation was walking. Last Summer I was 240lbs and could barely make it to the grocery store and back without feeling utterly exhausted to the point of almost wanting to collaps. Today I walked 2 miles and was fine afterwards. Its amazing the difference 64lbs makes! Oh and to reward myself, stopped at Off Broadway Shoes and got two pairs on sale for a total of 40 bucks LOL. I love my sleeve!

Hi Everyone, I have a wedding coming up in 5 months.. I need to get my dress fit in 3. Realistically, how much weight do you think I could lose if I stick to diet and excercise routine.. and workout 5 days a week? Can I get some love and support? Do you think 30lbs is doable?

16 mos out - lost from 220 to 148. I am 48 years old now. Went to DIsneyworld by plane, then to the beach nearby Disney, then on a CRUISE (lifelong dream) to Bahamas with my family and friends. I wanted so many times to write in and just say how much I do not miss those 70 lbs. I wore the cutest sundreses w flip flops and even though they would look better on a 17 yo, they looked good still on me I felt. I know I need to firm up and lose a bit more as I've rested at this weight probalby 6 mos easily, but let me tell you nobody could out walkme and noticed I was usually leading the pack. I had just as much stamina, and even my husband kept saying how I could have n…

I'm not very active on this site, so I hope I am adding these pictures correctly, but I was so excited by a recent NSV that I had to share! First pics are immediately post-op and then the other day in a TJ Maxx dressing room, lol. I am just over 6 months out and about 88 lbs down. I recently fit into and bought a size Large Calvin Klein top for $7.00!!! I was excited that I fit into a regular size (I've been in plus sizes FOREVER and am still a 16W or 18R on the bottom). It blows my mind that if I could just go down one more pant size that I will be done with plus size shopping for good! Thanks! Lindsey

Hooorrayyyy!!! I'm 9 months post op!!! Life's better than ever, and I'm happier than ever too. What's to say - there's not one thing I can say that hasn't improved in my life. My health is scary fantastic and I can do things I haven't been able to do in 20 something years... I did take some new photos for my 9th month post op (check my photo gallery). Yay!! 9 months out -- WOW!!!!!!! So I was 281 Lbs at the start of my pre op diet. I was 272 on surgery day. On my last weigh in I was 191 Lbs!! My largest sizes I wore was a VERY tight 28W and 3-4X tops. On surgery day I was wearing 24W and 1-2X tops. Today I can fit into sizes ranging from 8's and a…
