All of the official literature about banding says it is realistic to expect weight loss of 1-2 lbs. per week. I am 2 days post op and just wanted to hear what others specifically found to be a realistic rate of loss.
-
Last Thursday I was three months out and down 61 lbs. I have been lucky and have not had any issues with my sleeve. I have never felt better and look forward now to waking up every day and seeing what's to come! For those of you on the fence about getting the surgery, just do it! You won't regret it, trust me! The first picture is the day before surgery of me at 308, then one, two and three month which of last Thursday I was at 247 lbs.
-
Most surgeons use a figure of 60 to 65 percent of excess weight lost to consider your surgery a success. I don't know why they use these figures instead of like 75 or 90 percent but I've heard the 60/65 percent figure from a few people here on the board. Today I did my weekly weigh in and was down to 242 pounds from a high of 375 pounds! That a tad more than 65 percent of my excess weight gone! I NEVER thought I see the day when I weighed this little again. I'd publish some pictures but like most fat people I never liked getting my picture taken and when I did I'd hide behind someone or something to hid my ponderous size. So ya'll just have to trust me on this.

]!00 pounds down since starting the pre op liquid diet on Febuary 23rd of 2011, sleeved on March 1st 2011, 10,5 inches off my waist.... Still have at least 50 more to lose, but so far so good! There have been ups and downs during the past 4 months, a couple small food accidents, but I have been 100% on the work outs! I started CrossFit a couple weeks ago, all I can say is Holy Frigging CrossFit Batman! Crossfit is expensive, but oh so worth it! I leave there shaking each and every time I go, its insane! Now for the bad part, I have finally hit that stall everyone talks about, and Its not making me very happy at all. My initial thought was to work out more, work out …

Everyone in my family and everyone I work with has been on me about my clothes being too baggy. So for date night last night, my husband took me shopping for some new pants. I bought three pairs of size 16 jeans and capris!!!!! This is the first time in 13 years that I have not had to buy my clothes in the plus size section!!! What an amazing feeling! I always hated buying clothes for myself before nut I can tell already that I am gonna be a shopping FREAK!!!! lol!

Friday was my 1 month surgiversary and my husband has been dieing to go out to dinner for awhile now since I haven't been able to go since like 2 months before I had the surgery. He wanted Olive garden. My normal meal here used to consist of the sampler for an app, the salad, the bread sticks and usually either the tour of italy (lasagna, alfredo and chick parm combo) or the chicken parmigiana dinner. I used to pray that I would get a table with one of the chairs with no arms cause otherwise I would be squished in the chair the whole time. It's funny because my husband knows how I am about the chair thing too so we were both looking to see what chairs were at the tabl…

In May of 1981, I graduated from MCRD Parris Island, SC at 187lbs. Today, May 31 2011, 30 years later, I stepped on the scale and was the exact same weight. I have chased that number ever since. I stuggled my entire enlistment to maintain the maximum allowable weight for my height (197 lbs). I have not at this weight since shortly after that time. I might not be as green or as mean as I was at 19 but I am just as lean. (perhaps leaner) It feels really good. This was a personal goal that I had set at the onset of my journey. Anything lower from here on out is a new low weight as an adult.

I'm now 5 months out and I couldn't be happier. I've lost 82 lbs so far and though things have slowed way down, I am still losing and most importantly - NOT GAINING! It hasn't been an easy road, but I'm feeling better and better!
-
I've finally hit 75 lbs down. It's been slow going this last month but I finally did it. I've officially hit my halfway marker. Well, halfway give or take 10-20 lbs depending on how I feel I look best once I get there. I'm shooting for 150 as a visable goal but like I said, it could be more or less. The day before my surgery (1/25) I was 314.8 and I've finally hit 239.8. I'm within about 15 lbs of weighing what I did when my husband & I started dating. My BMI was 50.8. That's insane. I still don't see the loss on me. I still feel like Zucherman's Famous Pig. Had I gone to the livestock show, I feel like I would've accidently won the blue ribbon. I've gone from a 28…

Well I post two pics to my album but can figure how to get them here. I'm using an iPhone.

This past Monday marked one week since my surgery and I had lost exactly 20 lbs.! I was pretty excited. I've been really weak and tired so today I started on full liquids a day early (oops!) because I just couldn't take the clears anymore. Hopefully this will help with my energy level.

Hello All!! I was sleeved Jan 24th 2011. It has been an interesting journey to say the least. My SW was 304 and I am now 212. Only 12 lbs til ONEDERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant belive it. I recently changed my goal weight to 140 from 160 but Im not sure if that is very realistic but I am striving for it!!! My weight loss has slowed down some but that is due to my "falling of the wagon" and when I say that I mean not working out or eating as healthy. But the AMAZING part of the sleeve is that although I messed up I am still losing weight!!!! Its not 3-5 lbs/week anymore..more like 1-3 lbs a week. But the beauty of it is that I can start fresh and when I work out I drop ALOT…

Holy moly!!! I didn't think I'd ever be able to say this so quickly!!!! at just over 3 months out........ I am ONE pound away from my original goal of 160!!!!! I know from looking in the mirror that I Still have a ways to go, so I've reset my ticker to lose more. But I truly thought I was dreaming to ask to hit the 160s. My strategy was to mix things up all the time. I try to stay around 30-40 carbs each day. But I don't fret if I'm over, because there are other days I'm under. I go to the gym hardcore for a couple weeks, then go down to a few days a week to recover. I mainly just try to keep my body guessing. So far it's worked well for me. I have a 5k run in a co…

I weighed myself yesterday after a mini-vacation. Funny thing, I couldn't remember what I weighed before I left. Turns out I am down 30 pounds - and I have 30 pounds to go. Half-way, baby!!! I will be 3 months out on June 7. This is absolutely amazing. Some things I noticed about myself: - my mind is having a hard time catching up with my body. There are times when I think I don't look luch differen than before. - initially, I lost all the weight from the waist up. After the second month, my stomach / midsection finally started to go down. This morning I got into size 14 slacks :-) - I still can't tolerate sugary stuff. I can eat it, but it doesn't taste goo…

Ok, so after what seems like forever (yes I know in reality, it has only been just under 5 months), I finally hit -50lb today! With that has come some great changes, in the last 5 months; I have dropped 5 dress sizes (from UK 24/US 22, to a UK 14/US 12). I have become the lightest adult in my house (for the entire 12 years I have been with my husband I have weighed an average of 42lb more than him (today I am 2lb lighter than him) I have dropped 1/2 a shoe size and no longer need wide fittings (even in knee length boots). I have grown exponentially in confidence (seriously still trying to get over my moment of madness which led to nearly nude sunbathin…

So I haven't been around for a long time because I've been on vacation. During this vacay I have lost about 15 lbs, though it should be more like 30, =(. However, now that I have crossed the 200 lb divide, joined the century club, and started dancing, my changes are happening more often and are way more noticeable; more changes have been apparent from 200 lbs to 185 lbs then in the previous 75 lbs. My constant comment since surgery 10 months ago has been that I did not recognize the changes taking place. Though I know of course that I am much different then I was, it is difficult to recall whether or not I was able to do a particular thing or not. I find myself, for …

It's been a long, slow journey for me but I had a milestone goal in mind since the beginning that I wanted to lose 100 lbs. I had a 3 to 4 month period after losing 85 lbs where I needed a break and ate whatever I wanted. The weight loss came to a halt. So recenty I got serious and strict with my eating and it worked. After sitting at -99 for the last 2 weeks, this morning the scale showed me a new number...-101, I fit into a size 10 pants today too, so I'm pretty excited. I'm rockin my sleeve and can honestly see my final goal in sight...life is good. If anyone is on the fence about getting the surgery, don't hesitate. It will change your life.
-
As I have often said, the Before/During/After photos were something I could not get enough of when I was learning, researching and contemplating the sleeve. Now I'm 7 months post-op and have lost -65lbs. I have declared myself a slow loser, but in all honesty it doesn't matter. I'm losing weight!!! How can anyone argue with that logic? I have only lost -10lbs since my 5 month post-op so that averages out to about -5lbs a month. I definitely *wish* it was more, but I am being patient and working my sleeve and I will continue to work towards goal. As for the sleeve, I truly have not regretted anything about my decision to sleeve. It has been the best decision I have ma…

Hey everyone! I have been overweight nearly my whole life. About a year ago, I hit all time high of 325 lbs. I looked at my son, and thought I have to do something! On September 16, 2010, I was sleeved by Dr. Morton in Nashville, TN. It was the best thing I have done for myself! I absolutely love my sleeve! Now for the fun part!! I know everyone gets excited about being under 200! Don't get me wrong, I will be too, BUT I'm thrilled to be in the "200-teens"!! I'm down to 218 as of this morning!!! Yay! Only 19 lbs to "onderland"! I'll probably just pass out when I hit under 200!! Stay tune!!!

I know that I have not lost as much as others on this forum, but I expect to reach 50 lbs lost soon and want to celebrate it. I am single, no kids. I have thought of Botox, a new outfit, a piece of jewelry...or waiting until I reach goal and going on a fabulous vacation. What would you suggest? What's your opinion?
-
101 lbs later I feel GREAT!!!! Today marks a HUGE accomplishment for me. I finally have lost 100 lbs plus 1. To celebrate, I went shopping at Old Navy. I bought a new swimsuit and blue jean shorts. Both items I would not have been caught dead in this time last year. This journey has been hard but well worth it. I would recommend the sleeve to anyone and everyone. I AM TRULY BLESSED and 101 lbs lighter!!!!! WU WHOOOOOO!!!!!!:Banane02:

Good Morning all! I woke up this morning oh so very excited to get on the scale to see what my "official" 7 month weigh-in would be. I won't make this long. But just wanted to share a lil bit of my journey. Firstly this has been a lot more difficult then I anticipated. I am not one of the fortunate ones who lose weight without exercising. (trust me I've tried it lol) I literally took about a month or so off and actually gained one month and lost 2 lbs the next. Not GOOD! But I don't know what happened the month of May. I've just kicked up my exercise game up into high gear and the lbs are FINALLY starting to come off. My 5 month check up I was a little depressed. I t…

Last night for some reason I was feeling a bit down... I've said this many times to many folks - when this happens dig deep in your tool box and pull something out that will *fix* that mood. These are a few pics of me I took last night. This was my original size pants in the black (of course... lol) size 28W... I used to fit these at my heaviest, 330+ Lbs. They were even tight!! I refused to cross over into the 30's. My tops were a 3X, even sometimes a 4X (not as much) but still... They are matched up against my "goal" jeans, size 8M. How did I not realize how large I really was? I've never been able to really recognize the true me, I still don't now. I migh…

So, tomorrow I'll be 2 months out and I have lost 73 lbs so far!!! I started at 379 and now I'm 306. So close to getting into the 200's I can taste it. This has been an amazing journey and the weight continues to rapidly fall off. I'm no longer pre-diabetic, nor do I huff and puff going up stairs. I don't even have to hold the rail on the stairs anymore. This is so amazing!!! That is All, Fly

So my schedule between work and the pt (due to car accident) has been super busy. It's a little less than 4 months but I've hit my 70 pound loss already. I started at 330 pounds so I still have a long way to go but it feels so wonderful to be normal. Im sorry to say I don't count calories and I pretty much eat whatever I want but since I eat so little i make much better choices. I've started to play tennis with my husband and even purchases a used elliptical that I love. I'm only 2 pounds over my husband and can't wait till I weigh less than him. I started with a size 26/28 and to my amazement I acidently put the wrong size uniform in my bag to change after pt and I…

So...is this an NSV? I'm not really sure....so I'm going to put it here anyways. I'm down about 60 pounds from pre-op and feeling great, which in an of itself is an awesome accomplishment. I've noticed though that I'm getting a certain amount of attention from our male patrons at work and I'm not really sure I know what to do with it. Yesterday I was handling billing questions from a guest, when he asked me if he could take me out to famous dave's for lunch. I thanked him for his generosity, and told him that I already eaten. He then looked at me and said "Well I could pick you something up and keep it in my room....you could always come up for dinner later.." and t…

I weighed 218 when I got my band January 15th 2007. I hit 127 two years ago, had the band unfilled & have maintained my weight loss since. I had a tummy tuck a year & a half ago and I couldn't be happier. It worked for me.

I finally made it to One-der Land and my first 50 lbs. I'm so excited. After this last month, I have something to rejoice about. I haven't exercised since my father passed earlier this month. So, tomorrow I'm gonna give it a shot and get back on track. It's been a rough month, but I'm ready to resume my journey.

Today is my 4 month surgiversary. I can't believe how time flies. I am down 47 pounds as of today and need to lose another 28 pounds to get to my goal. I am very happy with my sleeve, it is a great tool to weight loss. The only thing I wish is that I was more of a fast loser. This last month, I have only lost 6 pounds. I would be happier with 10 pounds a month loss. But I will take any loss over the weight gain I used to experience. I am very thankful to God for this opportunity to make my health, life and happiness sooooo much better. I feel sooooo good. Thank You everyone for all of the sharing in this forum it has truly made my journey much easier.

Hello All, Well I've lost 81 lbs. since 2/2/11 and I feel great. I'm looking forward to losing the next 80 lbs. My energy is up and my workout is amazing, I want to do more. For me the sky is the limit and I will live my new life to the fullest. The only issue I have is eating, I'm still trying to find what foods I can and can't eat. Eating for me is a job but I love it. I eat healthier and I'm very careful about the foods I eat. I can't wait to workout today and watch the fat go away. Thank all of you for your posts and encouragement. KHG

Check out my results! Even with a 1 week fail of too much sodium from camping, I still did fantastic! http://myaceinhand.blogspot.com/2011/05/1-month-results.html :D :D

I went to my internist yesterday for my 3 month follow-up visit. I am "officially" in ONEderland by her scales - 198 1/2 pounds. YEA! 54 1/2 pounds lost in 3 months. And my bloodwork was great - my cholesterol is normal - and I have been of all cholesterol lowering meds since 2 weeks before surgery. My "good" cholesterol and "bad" cholesterol were both where they needed to be. I haven't had a report like that in many years (and many pounds ago). The only problem was I am anemic - so she doubled my Iron supplement from 1 to 2 per day and told me to start working beef into my diet. I have faught being anemic my entire life - no matter what I weighed. She took me off …

I'm 6 months from my surgery now and everything is going pretty well. I've lost over 150 pounds. Of course because I started at such a high weight, I'm only half way to my goal. Weight loss was very fast at the start and has slowed down considerably. I get around 800 calories. I had hit a stall a couple of months ago when I was getting around 600 calories and increasing my intake to 800 helped with the weight loss. It might be time to up the calories again. Overall the Sleeve has been great, there was no way I was going to loose so much weight in such a short time frame. Even more importantly, all the right habits have become ingrained in my lifestyle - what I …

WOW, 6 months since surgery!! Where has the time gone? It's been a FABLOUS, WONDERFUL, CRAZY 6 months that is for sure! First I must say that I feel WONDERFUL! I haven't felt this good in a really long time. Not only is my weight and health doing so well it just seems that everything in life is falling right inline where it should be. We close on our house in less then two weeks and then my husband will finally be joining me here in MD (hes in NY finishing up the school year) and I LOVE my job (although I'm a little bored! LOL)! So in the past 6 months I have learned a lot about my sleeve and my "new" self! I am still a work in progess and I'm sure I will be for …

Weighed this morning - I am now at 197.4 - almost 10 pounds down in the first 8 days.

I've been almost stalled for nearly a month, losing 1/2 to 1 pound a week. Frustrating as heck but I haven't been too concerned about it. Maybe I'm replacing fat with muscle mass, I hope so anyway. A month ago I bought jeans size 22 when I had been wearing size 26. I walked into the living room tonight and said to my hubby, "Look at this." I gathered up about 4 inches of fabric on the outside of each pant leg. He said, "I noticed the other day that they were loose. Why aren't you wearing your new skinny jeans??" I told him, "These ARE my new skinny jeans!!" The look on his face was priceless! I guess I'll be shopping again soon.

A lady I hadn't seen in a while was surprised at my weight loss. She said I looked great. I told her I had 20 lbs to go and she couldn't believe it. It was nice to hear. Of course she didn't see all the fat under the clothes. Lol.

Hello everyone, I been coming on this site for about a month just reading everyone success stories, and the advice giving which is great, and I must be honest you all have given me hope in having this surgery. Last week was the beginning of my 6 months supervised diet and so far so good. In July of 2010, I was diagnosed with type II diabetes, I was walking around not having a clue of what was going on with my body, I though I was just overly tired because I had just moved from Illinois to Minnesota, I drove a Penske truck from there to here, losing my site alone the way, having my teenage daughter to read the highway signs for me. I didn't know how I had put our liv…

Let me start by saying, I am very happy for those of you that this procedure worked for! It could be that I had a low BMI and needed to lose only 40-50 pounds which doesn't seem like a lot to some of you but I seriously have battled with my weight the same way as you. Was called fat in grammer school, and by my sister growing up. I am an emotional eater or just say an eater. If I can get it down the pipe I am going to consume more than I need to. The only way this band worked for me is by getting it filled tight enough so nothing but liquid could get down and I would vomit every time I would eat. I tried the proper tightness but like I mentioned above If I can get it…

Well, today I had to renew my work ID and take a photo of myself. I have been putting this off for months now because I am totally hating my hair! LOL But I got the hate mail again and this time they copied my boss, so it had to be done! I took a self portrait with my cell phone and up loaded it, but compared it to the old one and WOW!!! what a difference, the old one is almost 5 years old. I could not take a shot of the old one, the security words blocked out the picture. But I was able to find this shot of me from the Devils game that I went to in April of 2010 on my work computer, pretty big difference here too! Even though I have had the band in that time and on…

It's finally official- I've lost 100 lbs since November (60 before VSG and 40 after)! Buh-Bye don't care to see you ever again!!! Now I still have a long way to go but got to Celebrate big milestones like this! Woo Hoo! I want to reward myself with little things so I bought a nice watch to signify my 100lbs. Don't want to celebrate with anything food or alcohol related as I would've before and I don't want to buy clothes right now so a watch it is! What do you reward yourself with when you hit a milestone or once at goal?

I did it!!! 110 pounds gone and I'm at my goal! My new focus......toning up!
