I am officially a statistical success as of today!

Most surgeons use a figure of 60 to 65 percent of excess weight lost to consider your surgery a success. I don't know why they use these figures instead of like 75 or 90 percent but I've heard the 60/65 percent figure from a few people here on the board.

Today I did my weekly weigh in and was down to 242 pounds from a high of 375 pounds! That a tad more than 65 percent of my excess weight gone! I NEVER thought I see the day when I weighed this little again.

I'd publish some pictures but like most fat people I never liked getting my picture taken and when I did I'd hide behind someone or something to hid my ponderous size. So ya'll just have to trust me on this. :P

Awesome Congrats!! This got me wondering how close I was so I looked up the tool at OH.com - you put in your weight at surgery day, your height and percentage you expect to lose. I put 65% since that is the common expected successful surgery WL goal.

I'm only 5 Lbs away from mine!!! Another reason to smile today.;)

YIKES! That BMI calculator produced the lowest weight yet at 169 pounds, that just doesn't seem possible. I haven't weighed that little since gade school and I was shorter. Neat tool but it seems a little on the extreme side.

Oh wow... that is too much. Mine came up automatically at 149 Lbs, which for me was only about 5 Lbs lighter than my maximum BMI chart weight. I don't even plan to get to 154 but to 165 - so if I'm counting by that I should be beyond the 65% which is even more excellent! It's all in the eyes of the beholder, and IMO the BMI charts really don't apply to me. I would have to go by another set of rules. Probably that big boned calculator you mentioned... LOL :D
