  1. I did a vlog on this last week, but thought I'd throw it out here too! I'm half way to goal (lost 69.4 with 59.8 to go) and I'm feeling really exposed without my fat! I explained it to my hubby like this..."Imagine I'm a football player and I'm running out on the field without my helmet...that's how I feel. Like I'm going to get crushed by those really big guys and have nothing to protect myself with!" I know that it's just mental...that my fat never actually protected me, but my heart felt safe behind my wall of fat and now....it's disappearing really quickly and I feel very exposed. I'm working through getting those negative thoughts out of my mind and off "repeat"…

So, I belong to a Meetup group for single people. I just changed my Meetup avatar to the same one I have for this site. I went to a pool party on Saturday night & this guy there starts asking when I changed the picture. He then spend the whole night referring to me as the "Hot Librarian". LOL. I think he must have called me that 20 times. He even made someone pull the picture up on their phone so he could show everyone. It was honestly the first time anyone has ever referred to me as 'Hot' in my entire life. Super flattering, even if he is 15 years older. It made my entire weekend. Krista

Just Curious, if anybody had a defininig moment when they made up their mind that the weight had to come off. I will start it off. I was at the playground with my son and there weren't many kids around so I decided to play with him. After chasing him around for fifteen minutes I couldn't go on. I was hot, sweaty and felt like I would pass out. I took him away from his fun in the sun so I could get back to my easy chair and the air conditioner. I wasn't gonna let my fatness ruin his childhood.

When my ex husbands girlfriend came to pick up my son the first thing she said to me is "Wow you really have lost a lot of weight!" This really meant alot coming from someone who doesn't compliment me at all and the fact that she is super skinny. It was very nice to hear! So eat your heart out ex husband! I have lost 30 lbs and I don't have ghout anymore! Tonight I also took a long walk with ease and didn't get out of breath I walked the longest and fastest around my neighborhood that I have ever done! I am so thankful for my sleeve!

I hit goal yesterday ! I scared the snot out of my husband when I came flying out of the bathroom and woke him up to tell him HAHA! It has been 28 weeks since I had the sleeve done. Started out at 240.8 before the liquid diet, 228.8 day of surgery and exactly 150.8 as of yesterday Cannot believe I have lost it all YAY! The weight is coming off still and I don't plan to stop it yet. At only 5'4 my goal of 150 lbs still puts me in the overweight category (which I think is beyond stupid) so I will just let my body do what it wants to do for now. The best part? No one believes I weigh 150, everyone says I look so much thinner, so yay for me Even though I had a …

Went to a old seafood restaurant we like, first time in 2 months with the wife. This is my first food outside of the house. I ordered a shrimp & oyster platter with a side of greens. I was confused. I knew I was ordering to much BUT knew I had supper & lunch tomorrow. Well I ate 2 small oysters & one shrimp & WAS STUFFED! I knew I couldn't eat much but was still surprised but pleased. Ate 2 shrimp for supper, I love greens but they fill me up FAST. So I stayed with the shrimp. Anyone else been surprised at a restaurant?

I came in at lunch from a short walk around campus at work. I have to pass through another department to get to my office. As I turned the corner to go through the double doors toward my office, an aquantance called my name. I didnt hear her... she called again and I turned. She screamed "How much weight have you lost!!! you look amazing!" I was startled. I made the same old knee jerk reaction by telling her it was probably because my hair was pulled back that it looked like I had lost a lot of weight. Then I realized, Hey! I have lost 27 pounds so far! I told her it was 27 pounds and she was so excited for me! Then I was excited for me! I dont know why I try t…

NSV, non scale victory. Yes, these are the things that make us smile and jump and laugh and say hooorahhh! But I think they should also be reflections as well. This evening I was feeling a little antsy. So close to 9/11. As many of you know, I am from NYC. I basically grew up on Wall St. from the time I was 19 years old. Needless to say I lost a lot of people that day. I had just moved to Chicago a few months prior. When I was working in NY I worked in 1WTC92nd floor, I worked with these people that many I considered family, for 15 years. No one made it out that was in the office that morning. So, feeling antsy, I decided to take a walk, get out some nervous energy etc. I…

Hey everyone! I just wanted to put up a quick post about my progress since the sleeve. Today marks 2 months since I went under the knife in Seattle and I can now say that it's quite possibly the best thing that I have ever done for myself. This morning, I jumped on the scale and I weighed 165.4! That means that since my sleeve, I've lost a grand total of 44.6 pounds and my BMI is 30.3. A few things that have changed for me since the sleeve: 1. Shopping is fun again! I don't have to skulk off to the plus size section and flick through the mumus with an ashamed look on my face. 2. When I notice men looking at me, my mind doesn't flash "stoplookingatmyfatstoplookinga…

I met with my nutritionist yesterday and am down 25 lbs based upon their scale. I got 2 big thumbs up on my eating, protein and overall progress. I got "official" approval to move on to the next stage of foods and it's not nearly as restrictive as I thought, so I was thrilled to hear that. I feel like a real person again who gets to eat like "normal people"! Now, my first small NSV - I had time to kill after a doc's appointment today so I went to Kohl's to spend my Kohl's Cash and was perusing the women's clothing section. I'm not buying any clothes yet until my current clothes are falling off, but I wanted to see if I'd gone down any sizes. I was pre-surgery in …

At my heaviest I was wearing a 20/22 just prior to surgery in Oct 2010. For several years I have kept a few tubs of my nicest, most expensive and mostly classic styled clothes in smaller sizes so I could wear them again when I lost weight (many were actually still new). While cleaning out our garage last weekend and unpacking the last of the boxes from our move two years ago, I ran across those tubs. I was so excited to go through all these awesome garments until I realized that each and every item was too big for me. Because I don't see myself as a small person, I never would have imagined not fitting into my "small" clothes (10-14). So the moral of the story is....…

And from August 13th to today I have already lost 16 pounds! I guess it will be a slow month next week. I can't believe I am 235! That is only just a short distance away from 199 and then a short distance away from wherever I land. WHERE WILL I LAND! I don't ever remember weighing less than 180 since high school and even then I don't remember weighing less than 180, and I don't think I was 5'10" when I weighed 180. If I get to under 200 I will be happy, but anything under 199 is just going to be nuts! I haven't even started to work out! Grocery shopping with my kids is never a pleasant experience. After picking my 13 year old son up from an event yesterday I was forced to take him with me to pick some things up for a party we were having last night. Rather than making deserts, I decided last minute to pick up a variety of things from the bakery section of the grocery store. Everything looked wonderful and I jokingly said to my son "it's never a good idea to let me run loose in the bakery while I'm on a diet". My son replied "Uh, mom, you don't need to be on a diet anymore and should be able to eat this if you want to. Just saying..." I have always felt bad that I was overweight when all the fri…

Today is my 6 month surgiversary. I have been wanting this day to come for so long!!! I remember how miserable I was the first 8 weeks after surgery. Sometimes the only thing that would get me through it was knowing that I would someday be right here - near my goal, eating more normal food, and living a good life. I was not sure what to expect from this journey - and it continues to surprise me. In some ways I am more limited than I thought I would be. However, I am also a lot more successful than I thought I would be. As of today, I have lost 52 pounds, gone from a BMI of 31 to a BMI of 23, gone from a size 18/20 jeans to a snug size 10, gone from a 40DD bra to …

  24. I threw an entire load of laundry in the dryer - work dresses, casual dresses, shirts, shorts ... you name it, and it's 100% Cotton, and it was thrown into the dryer. And as I did it, I was thinking all my clothes could use some shrinkage. Like 73 pounds of shrinkage ... Just like me. These clothes got me through my biggest, and now that I am WAY smaller, they needed to do some minimizing as well. I still had a heart attack when I was shaking them out. My body may not be the fat chick anymore, but my head is still catching up.

My question is this; is there any emotional "fallout" after you've reached goal? Pre-sleeve there wasn't a day nor hour that went by that I wished I wasn't fat. The health problems, the physical problems, the way i looked - you name it - all reminded me of what a fat cow I was. Post-sleeve and 160+ pounds later I am a few months away from my goal. I still daily think about my previous state and am anxious about reaching goal. I run in to people daily commenting about how good I look and asking how I did it. All reminders of where I …

Sorry to be so personal, but the new sex positions we've been trying are awesome! Oh and lets just say I can see what's going on a lot better these days. By the way, I'm 68 lbs lighter since my June 6th surgery.

  48. THE LEGS IN THIS POST BELONG TO GOOGLE IMAGES, NOT ME. NO LEGS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS POST. As I was sitting here reading about all of your NSV's only seconds ago, I had one of my own. I comfortably crossed my legs not once... but twice! I wasn't even planning to do it. I was sitting like that for a moment before I realized it. For me, losing enough weight to cross my legs comfortably just once was an NSV. To accomplish a relaxed leg-tangle, without it taking effort to keep it that way, is pretty awesome for me.

I've notice I get very cold post op. Is it because I don't have the extra tissue as insulation keeping me warm. A few examples are in the super market and movie theaters I have to bring a light jacket. At night I must move the thermostat up a few degrees and/or use a blanket. Never had this happened before WLS. Any one else share this situation. Lash
