Tomorrow is my four-month anniversary and while I plan on losing more weight, I'm perfectly happy where I am. I can't believe the change in only 4 months! Here's the thing: My husband and friends are telling me to slow down on the weight loss. I still have 25 pounds to goal, but they are telling me I'm fine where I am. I'm large boned (really) so I don't really know where to be. I do know that my face looks better when I have a little extra weight. I feel great and my BP is now low/normal. Goodness! How do I know where to stop?

I've always been afraid to post pics, but here it goes. The before shot is me with my best friend at my wedding in March 2010. I had my surgery in November in 2010. The after pic is yesterday. I was feeling pretty good about myself as I am wearing size 10 jeans. (A significant change from my 32s) I am still a work in progress and I would like to lose about 35 more pounds, but most days I just feel like a new person, almost a stranger to myself I'm happy to meet.

I had my vertical sleeve surgery a little over a year ago and have lost from 327 to 160. That's a total lose of 167 lbs. I made my goal of getting to 175 and never thought that I would get to where I am now. Now hoping to go down to 150. The last time I weighed that was when I was 20, that was 39 years ago! I feel amazing! this is the best decision I have ever made in my life! Here is a before shot and a current one.

Hey Everyone, Just stopped by to give a little inspiration to those who on here trying to figure it out or wondering what it will be like. I was in your shoes not that long ago and always wanted to read about other peoples progress. Well, I had my 3 month visit the other day and I was down 58 lbs!!!!!!!! I actually lost 2 more as of this morning so I'm officially down 60 lbs!!!!! It's been a heck of a journey so far but now I feel great, look great and have more energy than I've had in 20 years! I don't get here much because I went back to school. So now I'm a full time student while working full time still. Not to mention my 7 year old and 3 year old at home…

Yesterday I went to my 6 week post op appointment (was actually more like 7 week post op) and boy oh boy did it go well! First they weighed me and the nurses tech was smiling from ear to ear to announce that I have lost just under 70lbs in 6 weeks. Then they redid the BMI calculator and IN 30 MORE LBS I WILL BE WITHIN A NORMAL WEIGHT FOR MY AGE/HEIGHT/BODY MASS!!!!! WHAT?!?!?!? NO LONGER OBESE?!?!?!?!??! I don't even know how to process that information in my head! So, then the Dr. tells me that I should be looking to loose another 30-60 lbs but that getting down to the lowest part of that might not happen because I am "no longer 18 years old". Psh, if only I co…

Today is my 12 week (3 month surgiversary). I was sleeved back on July 21, 2011 by Dr. Richard Collier at University General in Houston. My experience has been wonderful. The only pain/disomfort was during the first few days after surgery due to the gas used to inflate the abdomen area during surgery. I have had no complications (Thank you, Jesus) and no food intolerance. My presurgery weight was 394. I lost 23 lbs during my three week pre-op diet, so on the day of surgery I weighed 373. Since then I have lost another additional 49 lbs...so my total loss is 70 lbs! Of course right after surgery I lost weight very quickly, but it has now averaged out to about 2-…

Yesterday, I posted about these 11S junior size jeans that fit me. I was absolutely on cloud nine! Many people told me yesterday that 11S is a really small size in reg sized jeans. Ok, how much smaller could the number be? I mean seriously right? I think it was early this week that I posted on something Pasquini was talking about and mentioned that I was going to get my very first pair of skinny jeans to go with a new pair of boots I just bought. I was so happy about the boots because there is no zipper on them and they just slid right over my calf. I bought the jeans today. Are you ready for this people???? I got a size 6 and they fit like a glove! Initially my person…

Hi all- Was wondering what i am doing wrong. I have not lost anything in 2wks. My weight seemed to have stalled. I eat about 500-600 calories, exercise everyday, which leaves me a negative number each day.Should I increase caloric intake? Or just keep doing what I do and wait for the weight to start falling off?

About 2 months ago Target had a sale on junior size jeans. They were 4 bucks a pair! How could I not get a pair for that cheap? Well I bought a size 11S junior size and of course they did NOT fit then. Hell, I couldn't even squeeze the fat in and close them! This morning for two weeks in a row I weighed in at 171lbs. Yayy me! (I know my flux's at this point, I'll lose a couple of pounds and stay there up and down about 2-3 lbs for a couple of weeks. Its ok, I accept that now!) I took them out of the bag looked, scrunched my nose, thought do I want to be disapointed if they don't fit?? Screw it, I tried them on....*happy, happy, happy dance, wiggle my ass around the room, …

I was banded in late December 2009. I have lost only 44 lbs! I did not receive a fill until 4 to 5 months after my surgery. I currently have 12 ccs in a band that holds 14. I have had a hard time sticking to an exercise regiment, and I am truly frustrated. Any suggestions? Someone please help me!

For a month I have been absent due to trying to break this month long stall. I lost two pounds!!!! How exciting!!! I was getting angry at the last mile stone to goal. I increased everything. Including my zumba work outs. I gave it everything in class. Busted my butt to keep up with my instructor. She is awesome! Now the last 25 pounds till MY personal goal. I have my 6 month with the surgeon on the 24th I don't know if I can get another 5 off before then. His goal for me is 122 pounds. I don't think I would look right at that weight. My bone structure is not small but more medium so I am shooting for 135. I think that would be more of a comfortable weight for me. So if no…

Yeh - I am down 110 lbs as of today. It is just hard to believe. This has been the easiest "not a diet" diet that I have ever done in my life. I have had absoluty NO - not even one - complications since I had surgery. I now know when my little tummy is full and I can easily say no more even if my plate is not clean. I have noticed that no one notices if you don't take a lot of food on your plate but I sure thought people noticed when I took a lot of food on my plate. Isn't it amazing? I have learned so much in the last 9 months since I started this journey. It has only been 4 1/2 months since my surgery and it seems like everything has changed for the bet…

I have not posted in quite a long while, but I check the site and read other's posts on a daily basis. My journey thus far has been interesting, at least to me. I have never once regretted my decision to have this procedure. I say interesting because my rate of loss has been much slower than I anticipated and much slower than most others on this site. Slow rates of loss is a new experience for me. In my long yo yo dieting history I have always lost at a fairly quick pace. Now, it never came off nearly as fast as I could put in on, mind you! (Funny how that happens, right?). I have never questioned whether this procedure was the right one for me but I must admit I f…

I am 6 1/2 months out and have to say this has been an AWESOME journey. i have reached many milestones over the last 6 1/2 months and learned so much about myself and found the strength and the confidence i used to have. But my post is about the exciting things that have happened to me in the last 30 days! just wanted to share with those that would understand my excitement, my hus…

Just a quick post on my 2-month surgiversary. Why didn't I have this surgery sooner?!? I'm down 38 lbs in 2 months. I've gone from a 24 pants/3X shirts to size 20 pants and 2X or 1X shirts. I'm walking/jogging 3 miles, 3 days a week, and taking a strength fitness class 2-3 days a week as well. I can't remember a time in my recent past that I had so much energy! I don't get winded from walking anymore, I actually enjoy parking farther out in parking lots and at work to get extra steps on my fitbit. I'm eating 2-3 oz per meal, around 600-800 calories a day max (usually between 650-700). I am sad to report that due to a crashed hard drive on my laptop, I lost my …

Hello All. I am doing the happy dance. :bananapowerslide: I made it to my original goal of 159 but see is believing so I had to take a picture. I was so in shock that I got on and off the scale 3 times this morning and each time it was 159. Yeah baby. I have never had so much joy getting to 159pounds ever. I wasnt starving myself or depriving myself of all of my favorite food and I have even found an exercise that I love running. I achieved my 2 goals for this year in the same week. I ran my first half marathon on Sunday and got down to my goal weight this morning Tuesday. My next goal is 155 pounds which I hope to meet by my birthday November 23 and my next goal weig…

So, I went to my PCP for the first time since surgery today due to a UTI that I haven't been able to kick in the last week. He walked in and ask if I was with Julie. Like he didn't even recognize me. I know I have lost 54lbs but do I really look like a totally different person??? It's not like he didn't have my chart right in front of him reading the weight. Anyway, I told him it was me and he acted really surprised. It was a good thing but this coming from a man who for years let me try every diet in the world and seemed to condemn me when I failed. HOWEVER, when I went in an talked to him about the surgery he did everything he could to make it happen. I'm truly gratef…

My pants won't stay up. They are a 34, I was in a 54 at my heaviest an a 48/50 at surgery 5 months ago. I have a pair of 33's that are a perfect fit. And buttoned a 32 the oter day. Can't wear them yet but I will. :-). Though I did notice that if I had a tummy tuck right now it would most likely remove several more inches!!! Yeah I'm loving it. Oh and yestarday I got the full body scan and smile from a hottie! Yeah I smile right back and for the rest of the day.

A few days ago I visited my old home town in southern Louisiana near New Orleans were in some areas being overweight with a beer belly is worn like a badge of honor. A few old friends were there and some new folks who I did not know. One friend stated I was poor looking since I lost 100 plus pounds. What was interesting was all but one of the gentlemen had some type of illness brought on by being overweight, and one had Parkinson's (person said I was poor looking). All had high blood pressure, most suffered from elevated cholesterol, others had gout, two had prostate cancer, and few were taking medication for diabetes. After good-naturedly listening to each tell …

Wow, where is the time going? I can't believe that I am seven months out already. This has truly been the best thing that I have ever done for myself and like I tell everyone every month, if you are on the fence or nervous about getting the surgery.... DO IT and don't look back! After 33 years, I can finally say that I have started to enjoy life and experience my life how it should have been lived a long time ago. I abused myself with food and found comfort in it but today, I look at back and think, what the hell were you doing. You ruined your childhood, your high school years and your college years because you were too obsessed with food and then too ashamed to go out i…

I'm so very happy and wanted to share my story and pics ... some of you already know ... i was sleeved by Dr Aceves on July 29 ( uneventful) ... my best friend was totally against it, she call the sleeve an abomination. My husband left me 9 days after being sleeved, my one year old came down pneumonia, and my house had been on the market for nearly a year with no offers... ok so I had a heart to heart with my bestie ( we are great and she is super supportive )... i divorced my hub (who is still supportive and encourages me),my son made a full recovery, and I'm closing on my house and move to Atlanta in a few days... I'm already dating and loving it ... and i'm so happy i…

Hello All, I had my vsg done on 01-17-11 so a mere 9 months ago and my new years resolution at the beginning of this year was to complete a half marathon. Yes running 13.1 miles on purpose is my goal for 2011. Well its official i finish my first half marathon today in Long Beach California. My official time was 2:25:35 which is a 11:07 average minute mile. My goal was to be under 2:30 and I made it with over 4 minutes to spare. I have always been envious of runners and my entire life I have wanted to be one. Never in my wildest bdream would I ever imagine that I would be running marathons (or should I say half marathons). I have never been this proud of my self ever and n…

Today I am 1 year post op. I haven't been on the forums in a while, but will probably be around more. I have a few recent pictures, but need to get some more! I will share those once I get some more pictures with my hair down, and makeup on! Today has kind of been an emotional day for me. Thinking back this time last year, I was all kinds of nervous. The pain after surgery was pretty bad, I won't lie, but I would do it all over again. This surgery really did save my life!!! I was on 3 blood pressure medications before surgery, today I am on NONE! My blood pressure was PERFECT the other day at the doctor. He said I am doing great. My labs are all perfect except my chole…

We all have them, and yes they can be infuriating. Currently I have been on an extended slow losing run for 6 weeks. Yes I get down, want to say to heck with it and just eat whatever and sometimes do. So here are some things that help my sanity. :-) feel free to add yours. Remember your body is in shock and completely new territory and is adjusting. This requires it to go against most of it's normal processes. So remember that at your caloric intake it can not last, it will eventually break the set points and natural ability to conserve resources. And you will lose. You made this choice for the remainder of your life, while we all want to wake up tomorrow at our …

Well, according to the body composition scale at the gym, today I weighed in at 214.8 lbs, making another straight week of around 2lbs lost. Amazing to be doing that at 17 months post-op, but who's complaining? Also, since 215 was my goal (adjusted downward from 225 originally), GOAAAL! Well, except that I've now adjusted it down AGAIN to 200. And in addition to losing 2 lbs in the past week, according to the body composition numbers, in the past month (ish, since 8/26) I've lost 2% body fat (4.4 lbs) and GAINED ~2% muscle (around 4 lbs). That's just amazing; my fitness guru at the gym was astounded, he said he's NEVER seen a guy in his 40's (ok, early 40's, but st…

I have been keeping two dresses from my thinner days. A black slinky sequined dress size 10!! And one that is just a plain linen dress size 12 P. They both fit!!! So excited!!!! Imagine my surprise when the black one flowed over my hips. ( which are a still somewhat big) the linen dress is lose in the bust and shoulders kind of snug but not tight in my hips. Once my hips are a little smaller, I will have it altered. Oh yeah zumba must be working!!!! Deb

Hi All! Its been too long since I popped into this site and I just wanted to say I am still really thrilled with my surgery. It has changed my life in so many ways. First of all I am down nearly 80lbs since May 10th of this year, I guess about 4 1/2 months. I feel amazing, my energy is through the roof and I am having fun for the first time in a long time. I don't regret this decision for one second and I find something new to be excited about all the time. I recently started back to school, working towards my Registered Nurse, and we bought a house. I also recently went on a religious retreat and accepted God as my Lord and Savior. So, its been a big year for …

I am still surprised at how eating less food than I have ever in my life has made me appreciate the tastes of food so accutely. My husband made me one of the best meals I ever eaten tonight - it was amazing. Simple - a perfectly prepared omelet and some absolutely ripe sliced garden (REAL) tomatoes. The food tastes exploded in my mouth like I was eating pop-rocks. I just closed my eyes and enjoyed the experience of eating. I used to eat until I was numb and the food didn't even taste good at the point I would stop - I was full to the point was miserable and about to gag. The sleeve surgery has given me back the gift of enjoying food. I don't care if I ever eat a wh…
