Hi Everyone- I am one week post op from my surgery and am extremely excited about this new step I have decided to take in my life. In 7 months I will be taking my yearly trip to Hawaii (: and would really like to lose as much weight as possible. I have about 90-95 pounds to lose in order to reach my personal goal. I know that is not realistic in 7 months however I really would love to hear how some of you were able to lose your weight so quickly. Did it require hours at the gym everyday or was it more about what you ate? I am still on my liquids diet for another week so I have not really been faced with the challenges of cravings and temptations but am hoping t…

I have always loved to wear fine waled cords in the winter months - but I gave that up when I became obese because of the noise the cords made when I walked because my thighs rubbed together. There was so much friction, I'm surprised the pants didn't catch fire. The last pair I owned (way before my highest weight) had places on the inside of the thighs where the cords were rubbed smooth from the pressure. This winter, I have two very nice pair - one in black and one in camel. And, they don't make any noise when I walk in them. YEA!

  4. ONE YEAR AGO/12-9-10: I DO KNOW that I am VERY GRATEFUL to have had the VSG as a tool to help cope with my lifetime and continuing food addiction! My weightloss has been practically nothing for months & plateaued (1 year= 60 lbs) BUT my body has been changing & I have lost a size this month. It seems I'm still looking for the easier softer way (!!!) and have been using the SONIC VIBRATION that seems to be the reason for losing that size. My doctor purchased one & I know they're at gyms -- GOOGLE it and see if it may benefit you. It helps metabolism, bone density, and I believe it has started to help firm my jiggley areas. [she also has oxygen therapy for…

  5. My surgery and My Life: Procedure: Lap Band Surgery Weight at time of surgery: 308 pounds (My heaviest was 364 pounds, 5 years before surgery) Date of surgery: May 25,2010 Pounds lost thus far: 143 pounds Before my surgery: I have been overweight most of my life. In high school I was “chunky” but kept the weight under control for the most part. During my first marriage I spent much of that time as a hired man on a farm. The physical demands of a hired man masked the problems that were lurking below the surface. In 2000 I joined the Health and Human Services world. I had always wanted to help others and now I was working directly with kids and making …

  6. So this week I went to my surgeon for my 3 month post op visit. 3 months!!! ALREADY! Wow, I cannot believe how fast the time goes when you are so focused on a goal! So, I went there and first off got weighed by the nurse. She says to me, "Wow, you are down another 26.3 pounds since the last time we saw you just over a month ago!" So I tell her about the hair loss and the little bit of worry that I have about the loose skin, and she gives me some fliers about what other Vitamins I can be taking for the hair loss (BY THE WAY, ANY ADVICE IN THIS AREA WOULD BE GREAT!!!). She then tells me to ask the Dr. about the skin and what he thinks. So the Dr. comes in a few mi…

A little less than five months ago, I was 210 pounds. I had a hard time walking around the mall and I never would have entertained the idea of running a 5K. I've been running a few times a week using the couch to 5k app. My physical therapist said that he thought I could do way more than I was using that app. So today, I decided to do it. I went down and ran 17 laps non-stop on the indoor track in 32:33. It is amazing what your body can accomplish!! Next stop, 10K!!! Best wishes everyone!

Hi all, Today I reached a major personal NSV. We have been planning on going to Universal Orlando and visit the Harry Potter attraction. When they first opened there was talk about the seats on one ride being small. They made the outer seat larger so overweight people could ride but they were still small and it was a bit of a stigma if you had to sit there because "everyone knows" Well today I got on the ride I was alone because I was the only one brave enough to ride. The seat that was available was an end seat but an attendant had me switch seats to an inner one so the other person could be more comfortable!!!!!!!

Before I had surgery, I was wearing a tight size 20. I set a goal for myself that I wanted to wear a comfortably loose size 8. I also set my goal weight at 140. Well, I have been hovering around 148-147 for the last while but those 8's fit pretty nicely. Just for kicks, I tried on an old (VERY OLD!!) pair of size 6 pants today and guess what!!!!!! Yep! They fit! I wore them all day and was totally thrilled with my success. I had gotten on the scale this morning and was a bit frustrated that I still was hovering at the 148 level. Darn scale can really depress me. But when I tried on my 6's, just on a whim, and saw they fit...I was happy as can be! I love this s…

I had 99 pounds to loose and so now I am on the downhill slide! Woooohoooo! I am wearing my shirt tucked in and the cutest yellow sweater in size Medium! It has quarter length sleeves and is short cableknit... So cute. I had to wear a belt with my jeans to keep them up.. I guess its time for size 14's. Yay!

So I thought I would share a couple images, it amazes me to see myself before I lost the weight, I never saw myself like that. I think I was in complete denial, because even though everything hurt and I was exhausted all the time, I never thought I looked like that. The first picture is definitely at my largest, it was last September 2010. The progress photos are from surgery to now.

Measurements ‎B:43, W:36, H:45 March 28 ‎B:41.5, W:34.5, H:43.5 July 3 B:42, W:33, H:42 August 18 B:39, W:32, H:40 October 13 B:37.5, W:30, H:38.5 December 3 I don't have any proper before pictures because I hated (and continue to hate) the camera, but I hope you get the idea from the pictures I found.

A Do you eat mostly healthy food with a few treats here and there? B Do you eat all healthy food and NO treats/trigger foods until you've reached goal? C Do you eat what you want just in smaller portions? I'm wondering if people who do choice B and are very strict lose weight faster or if it really is calories in, calories out, so it doesn't really matter what you choose?

Went for my official 9 month follow up with my PCP. The routine is put your stuff in a room and then come weigh. They have a traditional post and beam type scale, where you slide the weights back and forth until it balances. So yesterday, this is how it went. I rushed into the exam room, dropped my purse and jacket and hopped up on the exam table (impossible for me to "hop" up there 9 months ago) to take off my Nehi grape colored high top Chucks. Thunk, Thunk, the shoes drop to the floor. I jump down from the table and rush back into the hall to the scale. The nurse slides the weight to 150 and it is TOO MUCH. So she lets me move the big weight from 150 to 100, the…

  17. Oh wow! I really have a hard time believing the changes in just a month. The pics show more than I can feel. I knew my jeans were looser and I could feel less chub in my belly when I'm sitting down. This is great to see the difference. The swim shorts I am wearing in the pics are actually loose!! I actually think my middle belly roll has disappeared and I'm starting to get my old hour glass shape emerging. I never thought I would be able to post pics but I'm just so happy that I really just want to share my happiness. My husband has said he noticed the changes but I thought he was just being nice. Now I can see what he is talking about. I am thrilled with my sleeve so far…

So, this morning (my official weekly weigh-in) the scale said 199.4. Wow, it's amazing to see that in print. This is such an amazing journey. And... over the weekend, I took my son to Disney World. I was able to easily fit AND get out of all the rides. At the end of each day, I still had energy to burn. This was so much different from times before when I could barely make it back to the hotel. The best NSV was at the playground at the Animal Kingdom. I climbed right up the nets and across the rope bridges. I would have never done this before. Then I went right down the enclosed curly slides and I fit NO PROBLEM. But, the absolute best NSV happened when I got…

One year through the trials of hell I started off at size 54 jeans and 6XL shirt. They were tight. I didn't wear them much because I mostly sat at the house, sans the occasional WalMart run to gather 10 2-liter Cokes for my many nights of playing World of Warcraft. Every Saturday night, I ordered an extra large Papa John's pizza with a large breadsticks and ate only that for all day Sunday watching football and playing video games. I had no girlfriend, no real friends, just the random online people I chatted with. And no computer vid cam because I never wanted anyone to see me. People on the internet are harsh, cruel and unyielding. My doctor had prescribed 3 bl…

Yesterday I ran my first 5K, something I would have never been able to do pre-sleeve. I've always enjoyed bicycling, elliptical machines and working out in general, but, because of my weight, my knees could not handle the stress of running. So, with the sleeve, I started running 2 months ago and signed up for the Jingle Bell Run in Portland, OR. The race was yesterday and I completed it!!! Having never run a 5K (even during training) I didn't know what goal time to set for myself, so I extrapolated the distances I had run with times and figured if I could do it between 30 and 32 minutes, I would be happy. First goal, though was to actually run the whole thing and no…

Here in Texas (I'm sure other states do too) we wear big blingy, shiny stuff. Well... I was always able to wear the rings and necklaces and stuff like that but was always too self-conscious to wear the belts. Well... my cloths are all falling off and I needed a belt.... I don't and haven't owned a belt in years.... like since the silver laced belt was in style (hope everyone knows what that is). So.... I'm in my room and I have a pair of pants on and every time I bend over or walk or do anything my pants were falling down around my hips and I was complaining about wishing Christmas would hurry up and get over so I could spend some money on some new cloths. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!! :smile1: I'm writing you today because I have recently had a revealing moment... or two. A few days ago I was walking around our house and I walked into an area where the kitchen light shines against our dining room wall. As I walked by I noticed a shadow appear on the wall, and one I could not for the life of me recognize. I was SO surprised that I had to walk by again, because in all reality I couldn't believe that was me I was looking at. This figure on the wall was tall, slender and super curvy. Well, I can't believe it has been a month already! I must say this vsg thing is probably the best decision I have ever made. All my health problems (impending diabetes, sleep apnea) are gone! I kinda knew it would happen but not this fast. My doc says I have lost more than double what he had projected me to lose at 47 pounds in one month! The best part is that I feel like I am no longer ADDICTED to food. I still see friends or family eating all those delicous, greasy treats and I really miss pringles for some reason, hmmm. But I don't feel like I NEED food like i used too. In fact I am never hungry. The biggest part was seperating cravings from hunger which I was never a…

I see all the pics everyone posts and everytime I just smile. The sleeve has brought out the inner fashionista in all of us. I just love how much more confident and happy we all are when we pose for pictures. I am sure this translates over into everyone's daily life as well. Keep doing what you are doing. You are making yourself a healthiear person for yourself and your family. We here always saw you shine and now you are shining from the outside as well as the inside. Rock those fashion forward clothes, rock that smile and that new born confidence that has been hiding and most of all rock your sleeve! You all inspire me to keep fighting the good fight.

Ok everyone. Today is Thanksgiving day. For me I can honestly say that today will be the first Thanksgiving of my life where I wont be concentrating on all of the food. Instead I will be visiting with my family, catching up with them, and truely paying attention to them instead of my mind wandering about food. Before the sleeve I was obsessed with food, what I was going to eat next, when I was going to eat next, how I would sneek away to eat so no one would know. I am so thankful this Thansgiving for my sleeve! It has truely freed me from myself! HAPPY THANKSGIVING fello sleevers!!!!!

hey all- I hit my goal over Thanksgiving! Slid right past it yesterday. I only weigh once every few weeks, so i'm not sure when it happened. Am I happy? You bet your sweet ass I am! Hang in there, folks. It slows down, but I am still losing about half pound a week. My measurement is now my pant size because that goes slower than the scale for me. Cant believe I have come this far :-)

I know there were a number of folks who posted in their top ten lists that they wanted to ride horses again.... I started riding again over the summer. I'm still losing and was careful to select a mount that could handle my weight (almost 140lbs gone but still 'heavy' for a rider.) Getting back into it has not been easy... while there are some elements that are like riding a bike my strength and muscles have a long way to go. If you are thinking about riding and want to get back out there... well... DO IT! Its amazing and very fun and so very rewarding.

  49. Started by clk,

We're stationed at the Embassy in Bishkek and recently attended the Marine Corps Ball. Days later, people are still coming up to me and complimenting me on my dress and how nice I looked! I know it might seem odd to consider this a success story but I've always avoided attending the military balls because I always feel like the fattest girl in the room or the unattractive wallflower. I never felt comfortable enough to dance and I always left as soon as we could possibly break away. This year I danced all night with my husband. I talked to everyone and had a great time. It was just an all around wonderful experience. My only issue was eating! They served about ten…

  50. Today I finally weighed in at 199! I am so flipping ecstatic, I can hardly contain myself. I had surgery on 8/15/11 and I think I have been losing slowly or slower than I want too but my results are inching along. I make sure to take my measurements monthly and that helps with the slower weigh in numbers because I see results monthly in my measurements. My goal was to be under 200 on my 37th birthday on 12/17/11 so I am happy that I met that goal early. My next goal is to be 189 by 1/4/12. My husband should be home from Afghanistan around 1/5 and I think that will be an awesome surprise for him! We have skyped but I sit at the computer so he doesn't see the whole me. I…
