Appeal Insurance

I have United Health Care and I was told today that my employer has a blanket policy of not covering weight loss surgery but I can appeal it. Has anyone ever heard of United Health Care covering weight loss surgery after you go through the appeal process? Is the process of appealing complicated?

If the employer excluded the coverage for this surgery, I don't think you have much of a leg to stand on. Do they mean appeal it to the employer to pay for the coverage for the surgery? Do you have a medical reimbursement plan?FYI, insurance "appeal" can be very long and drawn out. Wishing you all the best,

I sure hope not, this seems like my only option!

I would contact your human resources, a coworker of mine has United and was approved and I have Aetna with no problems.

Good Luck
