I am 10 weeks out from surgery and am happy to say I am down 42lbs! I get frustrated sometimes due to my impatience, but I have never lost this much weight so fast. My older brother just saw me this weekend and gave me a big WTG high five. My clothes fit me better and I am actually fitting in to stuff I havent for over two years. I thank God for his guidence in seeking out this surgery, Was it worth it? YES! I would do it again!. All praise to you Lord.

So we are sitting at the dinner table last night. My husband throws out one of his millions hot momma comments and i'm like ok yeah right. and my 9 year old son says, " But MOM you are PRETTY HOT you know!" I'm like Joey you don't even know what HOT means. He says "Yeah, like the Divas on WWE! You are starting to look like them now that you are losing weight and you are HOT!!" How cool is that my 9 year old thinks I'M HOT!!! Patti

I am 5 weeks out and I am down 47 lbs. Is this too fast, or is this about where everyone else is?

Down 30 lbs and 14 inches from day of surgery and I'm happy with no regrets whatsoever! I have just over 100 lbs to lose now and I'm wondering if July 19th (birthday) is a realistic goal? That would be so unbelievably awesome even though I think I'll have an amazing b-day and be happy with my progress even without reaching goal.

During the first seven weeks of the year I gained 2 lbs, but this past week I recommitted to working my sleeve and lost a whopping 12 lbs, protein, water, and exercise were key, so excited it was great to see the pounds come off again.
-
Oh happy day -- today I had my weekly weigh in and yay, my new scale told me I had lost 2 lbs. and am now in ONEderland! 199.4 lbs.! My first major scale victory has been achieved! I am SOOOOO happy!!!! I haven't been in ONEderland since I was 30 years old. And this was achieved despite me travelling for business and visiting family all last week, and eating out every meal. I ate out at my favorite restaurants but because of my sleeve I was able to stick to very small portions, and I also stuck to the Protein first rule. In my life pre-sleeve, a weeklong visit with all those restaurant meals out would have resulted in a 2 lb. gain. Next goal is to weigh less than D…

Well I'm 85 pounds down and still a heft 290 pounds, I had 2 pair of jeans I bought years ago during my last failed attempt to loose weight. I never came close to fitting in them. Well I tried them on after getting down to 290 last Friday and was surprised that they fit! Still a little snug but fit OK and I can get my hands in my pockets. These are generous cut jeans but I was wearing the same brand and was in size 50's and they were cutting me in half. I am so happy!

So, I will admit it. I am a southern hick and I love it. I'm heading to Nashville in about 2 hours. We are going to the Jack Daniels Distillery tomorrow and then end the evening with Darius Rucker and Brad Paisley in concert. Sunday is marked to hit my old stomping grounds (I went to college there in the late 80's) and then a quick stop by the Bookstore on Monday to buy a new sweatshirt (since mine are WAY too big now)! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!!! But ... for the VSG part of this post ... I have to say that packing last night was so much fun. Temps are supposed to be in the mid-60's so I was able to pack some lighterweight clothes and 1 or 2 war…

I think my head is starting to catch up with my body. I am slowly connecting the dots that I have lost over 70lbs. At first people would say, you look great, you have lost weight. And I would nod and say yes I have, but in my head I still felt like a big girl. Well that mental concept seems to be disappearing. I was in walmart last night and I was actually in the junior's section fitting L(12/14). Now I don't know what that equates to in other sizes but in my world that is pretty unfreaking believable. People I am talking about Junior size clothing. I am estatic. I am wearing one of the outfits that I purchased last night, at work today and I feel that the belle …

So this past week has been an emotional one for me and a major accomplishment. The other morning around 5am I woke up and decided to weigh myself, I'm now in onederland. I so wanted to run thru the streets yelling and cheering like I won the lotto. Needless to say I woke up my hubby crying and he was ecstatic as well, we were up for the day from that point on. I'm now down to 197 and truly amazed at how fast the weight is coming off. I've bumped up my work outs to everyday and even lifting weights everyday. My arms which were sagging bad and I was getting highly self conscious, they are now starting to tone and I'm actually getting biceps that are visible . I'm worki…

I've been in maintenance for close to a year so NSVs are a little hard to come by ! ! ! But, today I pulled out some springy shirts from last season to rotate back into my wardrobe now that winter is heading out and the weather is gorgeous here in Florida. I was hesitant to put them on because I remember last year, they were a little snug around my waist and belly area. NOT TODAY, the one I tried on is actually a little big on me around the lower belly/hip area, and is definitely big around the upper arm area ! ! ! I'm so stoked because even though I weigh the same this means only one thing; MORE INCHES ARE GONE, and my skin is rebounding, and tighteni…

A year ago today I: Weighed 295 pounds Took BP meds for high BP Was borderline diabetic. I was basically there. Took cholesterol meds for high cholesterol Used a CPAP machine for snoring Got tired after running 1 mile Had aching joints and knees Was generally disgusted with myself and my inability to control the volume of food I ate Was worried I'd not see my daughters get married and see my grandkids born Was ashamed of myself Today, 1 year later: I weigh 177 pounds No BP meds No diabetes. Great blood test results. My cardiologist actually said I'd made him the happiest he had been all month after he examined me. No cholesterol meds No CPAP machine. No snorin…

I'm just a few days away from my 4 month surgiversary and thought I'd share the good and the bad. The Good: I started at 185 and am now down to 144 I'm in a size 8 and headed to a size 6 on my next shopping trip Lots of compliments and people calling me thin are fantastic (who me? thin?) My thighs no longer rub together and in fact, I have a camel toe when i put on leggings . . . and I'm wearing leggings! Things are toning up nicely. I'll loose like 4 lbs, then stall for a week or two and then things will reshape and tighten up. The Bad: I think my gallbladder needs to come out. I've had several strong attacks that have knocked me to the ground. Getting offic…

If there were things you would find helpful if they were more accessible during your Lap Band Journey, to make your life easier what would it be and why? It could be anything! A specific meal outline, a LapBand friendly gym, ANYTHING!! Lets Hear it!!

So I have set a few goals for myself, and I thought it would help to share them here. I have lost 105 pounds total so far, 92 since the date of surgery. I lost 13 pounds the 2 weeks before sugery. So, I think my weightloss has been pretty good, and now it is slowing down. I can't really complain because I am still losing 2-3 pounds a week. But I think I could lose 4-5 pounds a week since I stil have 99 to lose. So, I am going to change things up for the next few weeks. I have been tracking what I eat and I am grazing way too much. Its going to be hard to break that, but I will! Right now, I am at 264 pounds. My goal is to be 240 pounds by March 28th, 2011. That is 6 we…

HELLO!!! My scale has been SO kind to me lately - and so has my closet... This morning I finally got myself out of the MORBIDLY OBESE category and just into OBESE!! So, the cheese stands alone. WHOOOOHOOOOO!!! Ya know, looking back 5 months I just never dreamed it could really be this fantastic. I'm so very very happy and I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!! Also, I fit into my first pair of Size 12's a few days ago!!!!!! What an amazing feeling that was! I'm also not able to fit ANY of my 18's anymore as they are way too big. If I wanted to swim in something, I'd jump in the pool. Hey skinny Irene, I'm knockin at your door!!!!! :D :D Cheers to all us slee…

So for the last month I went up 4 pounds and then took a month to get down to 191 where I was when my weight shot up. Now the last week I have seen 188,189 and 190 on the scale different mornings,. Well as of today I had to ask for smaller pants in my work uniform as the waist and butt where clearly starting to hang all of the sudden even though the DAMN scale is not giving me any encouragement. While it feels good to know my pants got too big, it is till a mind mess to deal with the numbers on the scale.

This message is to all those who are contemplating lap-band surgery. I will preface this by saying that this is MY experience and I know full well that its different for everyone... In August 2010 I decided that I was no longer able to ignore how fat I was and the risk I was taking with my life. The potential health impacts were great but I was ignoring them. I didn't 'feel' bad, so in my mind there was no major problem. I had always been a big person, and had grown to accept it. My fater in law was diagnosed with cancer and that for some reason prompted me to make some changes. I had a consultation with a lap-band surgeon in my area and made the decision th…

Well, I feel sort of guilty. As I tried to learn all I could about the surgery, during my recovery and as I learned I relied so much on those who had gone on before me, It brought me such joy and probably was what helped me be successful those first few months. So, I have realized that I should be here for those folks who are getting their start too. Thanks to all of you who have supported me, and to those who may need support or have questions I'm here. Thanks and good luck! Anna

For the first time in my life I am layering clothes.

I know that it means I still have a long journey left, but having lost 2 stone as of today I am a little over 1/3 of the way to my goal weight. That 1/3 has happened in 6 1/2 weeks despite everything slowing right down after the first week or so, and in that time I have lost 3 dress sizes. I have a couple of weeks to my birthday (not sure I'll manage my 8lb to onederland, but I'm giving it my best shot!), and I went out yesterday and bought my going out clothes from a normal rail in a normal shop, and not the outsize department. The only way is down, although in the best possible way! I love my sleeve!!!!

Hello all, It's been awhile. I lurk from time to time on my phone but I am not on here as much as I once was. Life and work is hectic but all around enjoyable. In the last 16 months of my life I have grown so much as a person in my personal life and also in my career. In the 16 months since my surgery and I am still loving my decision. I feel that with my weight loss I have been able to have the energy and confidence to accomplish all these changes in my life. In the last 4 months I have: Reached and bypassed goal #2 of 140. I am currently at 135 and have even gotten as low as 133! I weigh less than my husband and have and can wear his size 32 jeans! (I have not …

So I guess this qualifies as a NSV... at least from what I've read. Last week I was cleaning out the shed and found an old dress shirt I saved from my highschool graduation. I then proceeded to wear it work the next day. Yeah I wore an XL shirt and it looked good. :-)

Don't quite know how to take this one. . so maybe y'all can help me out with it. . . . I was working out at our local Gold's Gym where I always have been working out when out of no where comes this HUGH guy (bodybuilder trainer) and asks me if I would consider bodybuilding. I looked at him and told him I used to do that, he said "yes you can tell, you have the perfect body for it. A definate winner, would you consider doing it? You would represent Golds Gym and could win money to boot" . . . . I told him I'd think about it cause it does take a lot of time and effort and i wouldn't have a life . . . after a while of thinking about it I wondered what was it he really was…

From 1-18 to 2-14 I was stalled, I had actually gone up 4 pounds from 191 to 195 when I started the pill, I stopped it 2 weeks later but took until 2-14 to get back down to 191. Well FINALLY today I hit the 189 mark! AMEN! Goodbye 190's and the month from hell! The scale is moving again! I think the last time I weighed this amount was in my senior year of high school, some 20 years ago! This is my 3 month mark and I have to tell you I have never felt better! I am off all blood pressure meds and metformin, I was taking 5 pills a day before surgery. My back and sciatica no longer scream at me on a daily basis and I just plain feel GOOD! Can't wait to g…

Today is 4 months since I was sleeved!! I am loving it so much!!! Even though this month was a slow weight loss month for me, I will take it I lost 10 this month, but that now makes me at a total lose of 100 POUNDS!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!! I even fit into my size 20 jeans today! WOOOHOOOO!!!! My next goal is going to be to get to half way (only 2 more pounds!) and then get under 250! I can't believe how good I am already feeling, and that is at 269 pounds! I have been sick this week so I was not able to workout, but I am going to get back to it this week! I have attached some pictures. They are all from today. The middle one is a close up (WARNING- no makeup, watch out, LO…

So I posted this last Friday but lost the post because of the problems this website had. OK so I KNEW around the 3rd week I would hit a stall and I'll be honest it hit me at 39 lost! My whole life I could lose 30 pounds and then stall and I would start to eat again. SO the FEAR came back. I'm I going to be the one to fail? I put on my jeans and they were BIG so to make myself feel better I started trying on clothes that were to TIGHT but they WEREN'T TIGHT anymore! So I was confused...IS it POSSIBLE to LOSE INCHES but not POUNDS? I am TRYING not to get on the scale everyday now. Stopped after a few days of going up and down..between 37 to 39 pounds lost. I got…

I'm still a "newbie", but could not believe it when I tried on a pair of jeans at Academy...and they actually fit! I haven't been able to buy clothes from there in YEARS because they don't carry women's sizes, so I definitely had to buy myself a pair. The added bonus? "Normal" size jeans sure cost a lot less than my regular Lane Bryant Right Fit brand!!! Loving my band!

Good day! I?m posting this in the ?success? forum because that?s exactly what I intend to do. BE A SUCCESS! There are many stops along the way of success and for me; my biggest successful dream is to finally be back in onederland. Yes, even more than hitting my target weight. I have not seen a one in front of my weight since June of 1992. *WOW* ?that is such a long time ago! I?m just going to give a brief history here. I used to be thin all through my high-school days, and I maintained my weight in an unhealthy manner of almost near starvation and incredible lengthy workouts. I got married right at 21 years old and the weight piled on as I laxed a lot…

So, just a couple of short NSV's from Saturday night! I was out for dinner with some friends, and I was walking through our local Red Robin (note: the Ensenada chicken Platter is fairly sleeve-friendly; high Protein, not ENORMOUS portion sizes), and a couple of nice things happened in quick succession. First, I had my hands in my jeans pockets. Now, non-obese people probably wouldn't understand, but you guys might: my jeans fit me well these days (not giant and baggy, and not skin tight) and I noticed that having my hands in my jeans pockets felt... comfortable! I didn't feel like my hands were going to be severed at the wrists. I didn't feel like I had to bow my …

When I started my job 10 years ago I was wearing a mens 2X. We wear the same uniforms as the cops so I had 5, 2 x shirts, 5, size 48 pants and one 2x sweater and I wore that same size until a couple of months ago. As of yesterday I know own 3 size large shirts, 3 size 42 pants and one size large sweater, and........................................................... I would say by the end of next week I will be going in for the next size down in the pants ( This weight loss is causing my employer a bit a money at 45 dollar a pair paints and 30 dollar shirts plus the Patches, But hey I offered to wear street clothes and they said no. Great to be me lately, sucks…

Someone asked about before and after pics today. Here are some of mine. Surgery June 2010 VSG. Have lost 97 lbs. Gone from size 20-22 to size 8-10. I am at "goal" but will probably lose another 10 pounds. Highest weight 250. Now at 153.l VSG works!

At today's weigh in, I am 266!! That means, I passed my half way point!!! 103 pounds total lost, 101 to go! WooHooooo!! I actually might be closer to goal, because I might change my goal weight somewhat when I get closer. 165 might be too low for my body type and height, and I already have lots of extra skin, so once I get that removed, I am sure that will be more pounds lost. We will see!

Hey everybody. =) I am 7 months out and now that I am on the back half of year one, I am suddenly interested in hearing from the year 2 crowd. It's kinda like the difference between freshman and sophomore year in college; year one everything and every experience is novel and thrilling, year two brings challenges because after novelty wears off, there's a lot of work and things can get complicated. So I'm looking to hear from those who are approaching their 2nd surgiversary or have recently celebrated it. Year one was (I assume) spent losing the majority of the excess weight. What did year two bring? Did you achieve goal in year 2? What changes did your body go thr…

Yep, been waiting for this day. I even remember wondering the day of surgery what will it be like in one year and I was scared...would I be alive, feel well, be successful with weight loss, have any hair, etc. After surgery I cried after a few days bc eating less was so foreign. I mourned my tummy in the trash, my friend, my companion, my reliable partner in crime. I was a bit sad, strangely. End of an era. But I must tell you I am alive, I feel really great, I have been successful in losing a huge amount of weight, and I do have hair that I grew out kinda long. Today my health is much better than a year ago. I wear a 30" waist pant now or a size 8Petite or a …

Hey Bandsters So I wanted to share my mini goal. I shared @ home but the fam looked at me kinda weird like :huh2: "ok... whatever". So Yesterday was Sunday morning and I stepped on the scale and WOO HOO I'm FINALLY in ONEDERLAND!!! I wanted to scream out...but it was early & I didnt want to wake the kids. I quietly did the HAPPY DANCE. I couldnt wait to tell my hubby and daughter and they were like " uh...ok" but I was so so happy ALL DAY. Met with my surgeon this morning for my 3 month post-op appointment. A few weeks ago I had all my labs drawn (all 10 vials of them!!) and everything was back and OMG I can't believe it, it was all GREAT!!! NO Supplements at all!! WOOHOO!!! Still have to keep up with my protein and also my daily vitamin but otherwise nothing else!! She also said she was very happy with my progress and everything was great! I also went and saw the NUT today and she also was very happy with my progress! She looked up on her charts and says my "goal" weight should be 152 so MY goal is staying at 150! Today at the doctors office I weighed in at 192.7 but of course I am following my scal…

I had high hopes of losing a full 75 pounds by my 2 month anniversary, I almost made it at 73 pounds, that last 2 pounds is just stalling and not coming off. I weighed in at 302 this morning, 122 pounds yet to go. Unfortunately they did not weigh me at surgery time and my start weight of 375 is what I weighed at the start of my liquid pre-op diet - it still counts though! EDIT: Well SHAZAM! I posted this Sunday and got on the scale Monday and was at 300 lbs! Technically I guess I need to be at < 299 to make that 75th pound count but I was so excited. I try NOT to weigh every day but this is like watching a car odometer roll over to a huge number, can't take my …

Hello Fellow SLEEVERS!!! Its been just over 4 months since I had VSG in Mexico! This journey has been very kind to me thus far and I must say that I have made the most amazing decision for myself and Im so glad that I did this!!!! 4 months ago I was 214lbs and losing much of my self esteem as a young woman. Im 22 years old and I really felt ashamed of my appearance. I felt like I was a burden in my relationship with my husband because I was very insecure about myself even though he is one man in my life that I can trust with anything! I was wearing size 16 pants and size XL shirts, some of which were getting pretty tight HOWEVER>>>> I had VSG and since th…

I realized something this morning, I've had my favorite kind of potato chips sitting on the shelf, unopened, for a week now. To most people this is a stupid realization, but to think I've had one of my favorite foods in the house getting ignored is a huge success for me. I feel like I have shed my food-addicted skin and am a completely different person. Also - I'm 2 months post-op to the day and down 50lbs! Go sleeve!

Hello all, Just wanted to post my success story to show the differences this procedure can have. On November 20th 2006 I had the lapband done at NYU hospital by Dr. Renn. (Note she has been in the papers recently with some scandals and such but won't go into that.) I weight 430 pounds before having surgery. 4 years later I am now down to 205 pounds and have had a full body lift. I had my arms, chest, stomach, back, and inner thighs lifted by Dr. Capella in New Jersey and just wanted to show you guys that are thinking about the procedure or are wondering what hard work and devotion to a life style change can show you That was the old me @ Octoberfest at a friends…
