Yeah, even if they didn't wake me and get me up every couple hrs I would get up, use the restroom and do laps back and forth in my room just to keep things going.

It does get better every day. My leak test was good! No leaks and I didn't puke lol! They have removed my catheter and my pain pump, I've had a dose of liquid loratab and am sucking on ice chips waiting on my tray.

I will ck in the morning ;)

Hyoscyamine tabs u put under tongue. For gi spasms and cramping.

If u have nausea or vomiting zofran tabs worked for me. I never threw up but was a lil sick to my tummy and that took it away. For at home pain relief they gave me liquid lortab..I never needed it though,it taste yukky lol. Good luck!!!

I walked constantly and did laps around the floor I was on. I think it contributed to my recovery. I took the morphine once in recovery, but not once after that. Being in the hospital bored me and once I got that STUPID catheter out I was starting to hatch schemes to get off the floor I was on. Once back home I felt completely normal except for the loss of hunger and the leaky main incision. Out of the hospital I was going to livestock auctions, flea markets and museums. Two weeks out I went horseback riding and then camping in the desert.

I do recover fast from surgery and have a high pain threshold, but it was the walking and staying hydrated that made the difference.

Walk, walk, walk! Sip, sip, sip!

Thanks itsmeloca! Cattracks I hear you I am getting bored fast! I have been up peeing about every hour to an hour and a half and since I'm already unplugged I make a lap around the entire 2nd floor. I have been sipping and have finished about 4 ounces so far but I still haven't seen my tray. I'm hoping to go on vacation at 2 weeks out so hopefully my recovery goes as smoothly as yours!

I tell this to every newbie. I had a lot of subcutaneous trapped blood under the big incision above my navel. It gushed the night I came home and continued to leak for two weeks.

It won't happen to everyone and it didn't hurt. It was just annoying. I bought those little butterfly bandages that pull cuts closed, some gauze pads, iodine and antibiotic ointment.. If you are going to be on the active side this will save you from walking around with blood on your shirt.

I just don't want you to be freaked out like I was at first. Also, don't be an idiot and try to bend and twist to get a casserole dish out of a lower cupboard. Oh well. The blood had to go somewhere.

Yes my belly button incisions has been leaking lots! They said it was normal from my walking plus I had been bending over to scratch my calves lol! Thanks for the heads up!

I'm one week out today! Congrats to you. I was told to walk every two hours. I got gas in my left shoulder. Walking finally helped move it out. I was excited to start liquids the next day...but my sleeve was too irritated and I couldn't tolerate them. Thanks to my excellent Dr and the nurses...they got me through that day and the next things went great. Just sip, sip, sip and keep moving

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
