As for the government workers making more and having better benefits than in the private sector, that is a blanket statement that is not true across the board. I can give you lots of examples of jobs in the private sector pay a whole lot more money and provide bonuses and perks that are absolutely not available for a job requiring the same skills and education in the government.

Obamacare is the next step toward socialistic America

The federal health-care bill passed last month has a monumental omission: It allows the denial of coverage until 2014 for children with pre-existing conditions.

As this was a frontispiece for President Obama in his promotion of the bill and Democrats made so much of it, it boggles the mind they could have omitted it. One is left to decide whether Democrats are incompetent or stupid. Or maybe it's something else.

The bill is designed to destroy the private insurance industry. It requires all Americans to have insurance and provides for penalties for those who do not comply, and for businesses that do not provide coverage for employees.

But the penalties are far less than the cost of a good basic health-care plan, so it makes financial sense to not have insurance until you get sick, at which time you can buy it because you no longer can be denied coverage.

The Internal Revenue Service is supposed to levy the penalties and expects to add 16,500 employees. The problem is the IRS cannot make you pay. Democrats have not made failure to have coverage a crime.

The Joint Committee on Taxation said: "The use of liens and seizures otherwise authorized for collection of taxes does not apply to the collection of this penalty. Non-compliance with the personal responsibility requirement to have health coverage is not subject to criminal or civil penalties under the Code and interest does not accrue for failure to pay such assessments in a timely manner."

No seizures, liens, interest, or civil or criminal penalties. No way to collect. Now why would anyone do this? The answer is to destroy the private insurance industry. Only sick people will seek insurance.

That means healthy people, who are crucial to making a system work, will avoid coverage until they need it. That means a huge drain on the insurance system and monumentally high premiums; eventually more than anyone realistically can afford, and eventually they'll drop out. It's a death spiral, and it is what Obama and the Democrats intended. They will destroy an industry so that they can institute single-payer and control all of medicine.

That means the loss of the 65,000 insurance jobs remaining in this state. It means another industry lost to this state. It means enormous losses of salaries, jobs, property taxes and losses to related industries. I cannot remember a time when the federal government sought by design to destroy an entire industry. I cannot remember when the U.S. government went to war against its own people.

Welcome to the new world. You have congressional Democrats to thank for this. Remember them in November.

And what of those promises of keeping your doctor and your plan if you choose? Forget it. They are as worthless as every other promise Barack Obama ever made.

This was never about health care. It's about complete control of your life, and this is the first step. Just wait until you see financial reform, amnesty and cap-and-trade. They're all puzzle pieces to complete the transformation of this country into the United Socialist States of America.

Q: Will the IRS hire 16,500 new agents to enforce the health care law?

A: No. The law requires the IRS mostly to hand out tax credits, not collect penalties. The claim of 16,500 new agents stems from a partisan analysis based on guesswork and false assumptions, and compounded by outright misrepresentation.

Insurers agree to fix loophole that would allow them to reject sick kids

By The Associated Press

Monday, March 29th, 2010 -- 9:03 am

If you can't beat them, join them.

After nearly a year battling President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats over the health care overhaul, the insurance industry says it won't block the administration's efforts to fix a potentially embarrassing glitch in the new law.

In a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, the industry's top lobbyist said Monday insurers will accept new regulations to dispel uncertainty over a much-publicized guarantee that children with medical problems can get coverage starting this year.

Quick resolution of the doubts was a win for Obama — and a sign that the industry has no stomach for another war of words with a president who deftly used double-digit rate hikes by the companies to revive his sweeping health care legislation from near collapse in Congress.

This kind of dangerous thinking is what you hear from those right wing militias that oppose the government. I see they are already gearing up to oppose financial reform. I mean why would we want to regulate the greed, excesses and gambling with our money by unregulated wall street that brought our economy to the brink of collapse? Just let them continue to toss a coin: heads they win, tails we taxpayers lose.

Well, I WILL remember in November that Boehner said he had the banks backs and not to let the punks (government) push them around.

I will stand with Main Street while he stands with Wall Street.

If the republicans hate the government so much they should get out and let the big boys and girls in the democratic party handle the tough problems. That's what we've always done.

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS NEVER DONE ONE THING FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS AMERICA. NOTHING. SQUAT.

I told you PG reminds me of being one card shy of the jihadist. The views are so extreme its scary. Never seen all this craziness till they saw a black man become president. Name one time in the Bush reign were they went off the rails like this with garbage in the news darn near ever week about overthrowing the government or threatening the people they put into office or people wanting the government to rule religiously and such or wanting to attack a funeral of police.

Difference is some people recognize and respect the laws and jihadist don't. Now the so called retard Palin people are starting to disrespect the laws which to me means they are not too far from going over that line. Look at the response a lot of religious people had about Tiller's killer. "Tiller killed people thus he deserved it." Crazy

People need to learn to decifer the difference between truth and half truths in the media. People watch Fake News because its entertainment. Only the fringe believes the garbage they put out completely. No way a News organization should be known for lying like they are. Only the ignorant watches any news and believes everything they hear.

I dont know where you get your info! Obama just said the other day in 6 weeks no child can be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions!

I cant believe people think Obama or any politician "wants to control your life". He's doing what he believes is in the best interest of the people whether you agree or not. I know I never say anything good about Bush but I will say he probably did what he thought was best also! I say probably because I didnt agree with much if anything he did. Thats where it gets difficult to explain. Being I didnt agree, its easy to come up with other reasons, conspiracy theories, just like you are doing, so I really cant fault you for doing the same thing I've done in the past.

I have a question. When the pre-existing conditions for kids passes, can the insurance companies still charge higher rates than normal or is it capped? No offense Patty but please dont answer.

So with the New Health Care Reform passed through the House. Who is for or against it?? Why or why not?

I am not in favor. My opinion (whether it's right or wrong) is why should we pay for the people who are too lazy to get a job just so they can have health insurance? Now it's different if they are disabled and unable to work. But these people who won't get off their butts to get a job shouldn't get subsidized health care that we, tax payers, are paying for!

I dont know why so many people believe that, but poor people that do not work DO have insurance. its called MEDICAID. They get yearly exams, can go to the Dr whenever they want and it is all paid for by you, me, us. The middle calss is getting screwed without reform and the million dollar politicians have government funded healthcare paid by you, me, us. someone has been lying to you. I used to be a poor, newly divorced mother of 2 who used medicaid for healthcare. Now I'm remarried to a naval Officer & am very, very middle class. My Nursing job offers healthcare coverage at $200 wkly for famillies. God bless you if you can afford it but some can't. Maybe we are the lucky ones.

O.K. I cannot take it much longer. So many people know so much about nothing. HEALTHCARE REFORM IS NOT FOR THE POOR. your money is not being used for the poor through Health reform. POOR PEOPLE ALREADY HAVE YOUR MONEY, THEY HAVE HAD YOUR MONEY FOR YEARS. have you ever heard of MEDICAID? GOOGLE IT. poor people have healthcare, childcare vouchers, W.I.C. to name a few. DO NOT WORRY there will be a class of people for you to feel superior to. Rich politicians who make millions in the private sector then go into politics for considerably less pay only want power and influence. By the way they recieve GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTHCARE. So who is the fool here that is footing everyones bill. The Middleclass is paying for the poor and the rich.

Exactly who do you consider poor is the question?

If you consider just the women who have children and don't have jobs, poor, then yes, we know they get MEDICAID. But what about the people who don't get medicaid? And still don't have a job like men over 19. None of these people in Illinois get MEDICAID. Only women. That is a large population who do not get MEDICAID but are poor. Also women who do not have children but make too much to qualify for MEDICAID, but too little for affording insurance don't get MEDICAID? Or the people who have a job but don't get benefits from that job. These are the poor that concern us. I had a girlfriend who could not get insurance from MEDICAID nor her job. SHe had to pay 1k a month plus just for insurance. WHat about these people?

There is more to being poor than just not having a job. Or having a job whatever the case may be. There are millions and I'll bet they are men who can't get insurance through their jobs nor MEDICAID without a job that need this help and for you to say that they don't fall into this category of not needing help and don't need this bill is just wrong.

We haven't even gotten to the people who get denied coverage or have to pay a rate higher than my girlfriend does each month for little or no coverage.

Sarah Palin's age but smarter.

This healthcare bill was largely enacted to help the uninsured get insurance and to stop some of the biggest abuses by the insurance industry.

For the uninsured, it expands medicaid and creates an insurance exchange for those without insurance. For those who can afford to buy insurance, they will be required to do so. For those who can't, they will be given subsidies.

For businesses over 50 employees, they will be required to offer insurance and will receive a 35%-50% tax right- off to offset this.

For insurance industry: no more denying healthcare for pre-existing conditions, or dropping someone when they get sick. And parent's dependents can stay on their plans until they are 26, which is very important because one of the largest group of uninsured are kids between 18-26.

If you already have healthcare, either individually or through your employer, you can keep it and your doctor if you want. This doesn't impact you as much.

But all of this has been demonized so much and lied about so much by the right wing media and their stupid followers.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
