December Bandsters 2009

Recommended Posts

I see I am not alone as a slow loser and not at my sweet spot yet. It can be quite frustrating to see others banded around the same time as me, or even later, down 50+ lbs. Especially when you're self pay, that just hurts even worse! But, when I think about the fact that I am have broken away from gaining weight, just that in itself is a good deal! And just with the 30 or so I've lost since banding, I feel 200% better!

I had my 2nd fill last Friday, I have no idea how much it was, I can tell a difference, but I think I could use a tad bit more given that I feel like I could still overeat if I didn't think about it. But, my doctor want to take it slow. He is totally against people sliming and getting stuck, and definitely against vomiting. And the only time I had a problem with that was right after surgery when I was still swollen. But not since then, thank goodness!

But, the good news is my doctor says I'm doing great with my weight loss. He only set a goal for me of 2lbs per week (I set my own personal goal of 10lbs per week) and so far averaging out my total weight loss since banding, I've met both goals, even without good restriction. But I am a serious calorie counter and I workout 4 days a week 45-75 mintutes too.

When I tell people what I still have to go through calorie counting, exercising and all, some say, well why did you get the band, couldn't you do that without? Maybe if I tried really hard and had tons of will power, but if I did, I would have lost this weight (and kept it off) a long time ago! I not in the green zone yet, so the band is not working at full capacity right now, but it is working! It reminds me, hey, you don't need to eat anymore right now, where as before, I was a bottomless pit!

So, yes, I think the band it totally worth it. Nobody said it would be easy, and if they did, they were lying, lol! Stay encouraged, give it time, and good luck to you all!

DizzyLizzy you are doing great!!! I have recently joined the gym and the workouts are kicking my butt! It's so cool that you're so motivated. We have to pump one another up, that's what I think, and reading your post definitely made me feel charged and ready! Thank you.

Thank you! Yes, we gotta do what we gotta do to get it done!

The workouts will get easier and more enjoyable as you go. I actually like working out now and kinda get a little "high" off it!

Hey ... were you serious that you made a personal goal of 10 pounds per week? I can never, I mean NEVER lose that much. Not even when I'm only drinking Protein Shakes. I think I topped out at seven in the very beginning, but now it's pretty much 2 to 4 on very carefully planned weeks that include exercise. Just goes to show how different we all are!!

Glad you straightened that up. I was thinking... if she's losing 40 pounds a month since December - I'm definitely doing something wrong. HAHA

Hey guys,

I hoped on here today to try and get some self reassurance. I have done very well since my surgery on Dec. 2nd, 2009. I have lost 45lbs. I am very happy about the results dont get me wrong...But I seem to be on a plateau...I have not lost a single pound in 3 weeks..I havent changed my eating habits or exercise habits. I am starting to get a little frustrated and listening to that stinking thinking we all get when we arent progressing like we want. I know I should be happy with the results so far and not worry these things happen....But Damn it SUCKS! You guys are all doing great and keep up the hard work....And don't we all wish we could lose 40lbs a month!:(

maybe it is because you haven't changed anything. Last plateau I had to increase my calories and change up my exercise. I've hit another plateau myself. We'll see if I can shake things up again.

4my4kids...my advice as well, shake it up a bit. Try eating an extra 100-200 calories a day and mixing up the exercise routine, seems to work fairly well for me when things stall....You're doing awesome anyway!

Definitely shake it up! Your body gets use to routine.

Well pregnancy is already killing my weightloss. I am up 4 pounds in less than a week. I just feel hungry all the time! And I have not been making the best food choices. Not to mention I have slacked on my exercise routine due to being tired all the time. But I am back going to the gym and watching what food I put into my mouth. I am determined not to gain a lot of what I lost back. With ds2, I only gained 13 pounds and that was without the band. So I'm hoping to repeat that.

Tracy, you can do it. It's just really tough because if you're like me, you're really tired when you're first pregnant. Just think of all the success you've had so far, and keep it in mind when you're tempted to make lousy food choices. Then remember, you're SUPPOSED to gain weight when you're pregnant, and go easy on yourself. You've already shown you have what it takes to be a big loser. I hope your pregnancy is smooth sailing all the way!!

Doer - thank you. I am scared of gaining a bunch of weight. I'm trying to remind myself that I am suppose to gain weight and I can get it back off after the baby is here. But your mindset is so different after losing so much weight.

tracy, the Water balance in your body may have changed. chances are you haven't eaten an extra 14,000 calories. Try not to stress, exercise when you feel up to it, and find a way to satisfy that sweet little babies sweet tooth.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
