December Bandsters 2009

Recommended Posts

Hi, everybody hope the Holidays were good and you did not gain a lot of weight......

So I've lost about 40 pounds since I started this journey. Got banded Dec 2nd. Far better experience than expected; no a lot of pain only took 1 days worth of pain meds. Only gained about 3 pounds during Christmas. Found out that pork is not my friend anymore but coffee is good (Thank God)

Cottage cheese is good high Protein low fat with sugar free jams is better and a good alternative to yogurt. Chili is good. Muscle milk is very good, no fat or sugar and about 25 g of protein. Tofu is good.

If you have any tips please let me know

Did you already get a fill? Great job on the weight loss. I'm still on the liquid phase.

Nope I get My fill next week. I am just sticking to a Atkins type diet. I did not expect to loose weigh this fast so I'm curious to see what this tool can do for me...

You can try V8 juice its very good and it will take away the salty cravings and you can get it low sodium too.

I got banded Dec. 3, 2009. To date, I have lost 31 pounds! Woohoo! One month and 31 pounds! That is so cool! Though I was self-pay, this was the best money I ever spent on myself. Can't wait until this time next year!

Are you cooking tofu? I've never cooked it before but I'm so curious about it!

I've been banded for 8 days now and still have tons of gas pains/heartburn in my chest and shoulder. I've been walking and moving around a lot (I have 3 little ones to chase). I also take about 6-7 gas X a day.

Has anyone else had it this long? Is this normal?

No I have not but I like Chinese food and there is a dish called hot pot wich is kind of like a stew. It has different styles but I tried Chiken and salted fish and tofu altogether and it went down fine. It sounds weird but is very good.

I was banded on the 29th and I am still fighting major gas pains in my left shoulder. I actually wear a heat patch all day at work and get on the heat pad before bed. I have been walking on every break and after work, but doesn't seem to help. I too have been eating gas x like candy! Glad to know I am not alone, but when will it stop????

I was banded a week ago and I really feel blah. I am keeping up on my Protein Drinks and fluids. I am growing hungrier each day. I have not had any problem drinking. My doctor said that is because he implanted the large size band in my stomach. I caught myself drinking my Protein Shake normally as I would have before surgery. Has anyone else experienced this?

I do have the pains in the left shoulder, but I also have continuous heartburn. I ended up calling my dr. to see if this was normal and they said it is not & that I should come in. I have an appointment in the morning. Will let you know what they say.:smile2:

I was banded on 12/9 and so far so good. I can totally realte on the gas thing though! For me its not left over from surgery, but EVERYTHING I eat gives me gas! I guess I will start on the GasX bandwagon LOL!

My first 5 days were really rough, had a fever of about 100-101 but it finally broke. No infection. After that it was like a swith was turned on! I am down a total of 31 lbs since my first appointment on 9/9/09. I went to my post op and did not get a fill. My choice. I seem to be loosing at a decent pace right now. Maybe in a few more weeks if I stay hungry. Anyway, I hope everyone is doing ok! Remember, God helps those who help themselves and that is what we are doing!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
