Daqui - I to was at a family gathering out of town this weekend.....and I'm proud of myself for not cheating also. We drove from Atlanta to the D.C. area and I packed a cooler full of things I could snack on. I was amazed at how strong I was. Especially when my aunt pulled out her homemade Cookies and another aunt made banana nut bread, LOL!

I’ve been nothing but positive this entire time, but now it feels like it’s happening to fast. I have so much to do before I leave for Denver. I won’t rest until the doc puts me under, lol!

I wish you all the best!

I joined the group the 23rd b/c i didnt see on for the 22nd.I am home and doing great!

I got to the hospital at 730, they did more bloodwork, and an ekg. everyone was so amazing at the hospital. They explained everything.

Did all the regular pre op stuff- got an iv, got something to relax me, then they took me to or and put me out. i was back in the recovery room an hour and a half later and then on to the other recovery room. They did my surgery from 10-1130, i left the hospital at noonish and was home by 1:30 pm.

it was a very positive experience for me.

i slept this afternoon, thanksto the pain meds and i had some shoulder pain from the gas, about a 3 on a scale of 1-10.

the nurses did say that day 2 was worse so to be ready for that. i will let you know

i was on Optifast for 2 weeks and my doctor said my liver looked good! he sure knows how to make a girl feel lovely

He also asked me NOT to weigh myself, that he would weigh me on the visits....

i have had 2 Optifast shakes over the course of the day and some Water, but you really have to go slowly- you get FULL!!!/sore.

i am so happy that i did this!

3 of the nurses that were in the OR did it and one was tellling me- she hasnt had a fill and she has lost 88lbs!!!

we have to be careful to compare ourselves to too many people or stories and need to just listen to our body.

good luck tomorrow- may it go as smoothly as mine did- b/c thatis a GREAT wish for you!

hi all

i had srgery around 10:30ish, i can't remember the exact time i was in recovery. my heart rate and BP was high and kept rising. the nurse told me it was 104 right after surgery and she called the anesthiologist once it reached 113. i told her i had to pee but she did not want to get me up. once he called back he said he thught i might need more fluids and to take me to pee before giving me more. by this time my heart rate was 117. well after my BR trip it immediately went down to 104 and my BP dropped. went to xray band looked ok, went to my room. stayed there a few hours longer my choice, i wanted to make sure i was comfy with my vitals. when i was asked i told them i was ready to go.

today was a little worse than yesterday as far as pain goes. i was walking around yesterday and im up to abt 10 mins per walk. the NP told me for the 1st week to walk 15 min every hour im awake, im getting there.

the gas is horrible like most of you said, once thats gone i can deal with the other pain. its not bad at all.

excuse the typos, no contacts and of couse under meds

safe recovery to us all

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
